Compatibilization of recycled polypropylene and recycled poly (ethylene terephthalate) blends with SEBS-g-MA
Abstract The compatibilization of recycled PP/PET blend with high and low concentration (20 and 5 phr) of elastomer functionalized by maleic anhydride (SEBS-g-MA) was achieved. Recycled polypropylene from plastic industry and recycled PET from post-consumer bottles was used. PP/PET blends: 80:20 w/w, 50:50 w/w and 20:80 w/w were prepared in an internal mixer for mechanical properties, thermal properties, morphology and rheological properties. SEBS-g-MA promoted compatibilization of the PP/PET blends and improved their properties. With an increasing compatibilization level, the refinement of morphology was observed in the PET rich blend. Compatibilized blends showed negative deviation in the PET glass transition temperature related to neat PET, demonstrating that compatibilization was very successful. PET crystallization was accelerated in the blends due to PP presence that enhanced nucleation. It was found that the 50/50/20 blend showed huge potential for textile fiber application and that of 80/20/20 showed more intermediary properties than neat polymers.</div

Between city and home: Spaces of transition in London Postwar Housing
In the period between the idealistic vision of the ׳Reshaping society׳ and Thatcherism, in the so-called ׳Swinging London׳, the second wave of modernism is facing the demands and the quantities of bombed cities. The architects of that season, moved by political ideals and interpreting the cultural ferment, have been responsible for shaping the city on the collective dreams and aspirations of the society and for forging the identity of London as unique experience in the international panorama. This paper focuses on the spatial relations between city and home, how they raised in that specific historical context, in which form they realized, and what are the architectural implications for current design culture. The methodology, based both on the literature review and on the graphic comparison of six case-studies, is articulated in four steps. First, the six case-studies are selected according to specific criteria. Second, the sociohistorical background is reported. Third, the cases are shortly introduced using text descriptions and graphic tools. Fourth, the cases are compared. This process leads to the definition of four transversal architectural items: the density, the settlement pattern, the basement, and the threshold, intended as elements able to raise connections between past and contemporary design culture

This essay is about short story and later play “Rustic Chivalry” (“Cavalleria rusticana”), by Giovanni Verga, one of the greatest representatives of Italian literary realism (verismo). The essay analyzes also its first film adaptations of 1916, which was a huge success.Cavalleria rusticana viene messa in scena, dalla Compagnia di Cesare Rossi, al «Teatro Carignano» di Torino il 14 gennaio 1884 per l’interpretazione di Eleonora Duse (Santuzza), Flavio Andò (Turiddu), Tebaldo Checchi (compare Alfio) e dello stesso scettico Rossi che paventando un insuccesso si è riservato il ruolo minore di zio Brasi. Ed è un trionfo. Messa in scena su cui non poco ha influito la mediazione di Giuseppe (Pin per gli amici) Giacosa, a cui l’autore avrebbe dedicato l’edizione a stampa, che sulla «Gazzetta Piemontese» del 13 gennaio scriveva: «La novità del Verga non consiste nel fare di più ma, forse, nel fare di meno, certo nel fare diversamente». Interesująca pod względem tematycznym “Cavalleria rusticana” Giovanniego Vergi z 1887 roku, jednego z najwybitniejszych przedstawicieli włoskiego weryzmu-naturalizmu, jest egzemplifikacją studium historyczno-komparatystycznego; dotyczy ono reprezentacji jednoaktówki w teatrach Włoch i Europy jako melodramatu w reżyserii Pietro Mascagnego i pierwszej ekranizacji kinowej w 1916 roku przez G. T. Tozzettiego i G. Menasciego, która odniosła ogromny sukces
Odzwierciedlenie założeń kantowskiej filozofii w poglądach filozoficznoprawnych Antoniego Peretiatkowicza
Zdigitalizowano i udostępniono w ramach projektu pn. Rozbudowa otwartych zasobów naukowych Repozytorium Uniwersytetu w Białymstoku, dofinansowanego z programu „Społeczna odpowiedzialność nauki” Ministra Edukacji i Nauki na podstawie umowy SONB/SP/512497/2021Antoni Peretiatkowicz żył w latach 1884-1956. Jest uznawany obecnie za jednego z najwybitniejszych polskich uczonych okresu międzywojennego. A. Peretiatkowicz związał się na całe życie z utworzonym po I wojnie światowej Uniwersytetem w Poznaniu, na którym wykładał przede wszystkim prawo konstytucyjne, teorię prawa oraz historię filozofii prawa. Jako filozof prawa znany jest głównie z analiz koncepcji polityczno-prawnych takich myślicieli jak J.J. Rousseau, G. Jellinek czy H. Kelsen. W jego poglądach można również dostrzec wyraźne oddziaływania krytycznej filozofii Kanta. Szczególnie silne inspiracje kantowskie związane są z teorią prawa natury o zmiennej treści, której zwolennikiem był A. Peretiatkowicz. Prawo natury, zwane przez niego inaczej prawem intuicyjnym, było psychicznym przejawem tzw. poczucia prawnego. Prawo natury wyrażało bowiem ideał prawa, który przeciwstawiał prawu obowiązującemu. Jego filozoficznoprawne stanowisko wyrażało więc w pewnym sensie rezultat zmagania się koncepcji pozytywistycznych z teorią odradzaj ącego się wówczas prawa natury. A. Peretiatkowicz, odwołując się do kantowskiej filozofii, pisał także o konieczności rozdzielenia prawa od moralności. Poświęcił też wiele uwagi teoretycznym rozważaniom dotyczącym umowy społecznej i utworzeniu państwa praworządnego. Według niego prawo w państwie ma gwarantować zewnętrzną wolność w stosunkach wzajemnych miedzy ludźmi. Z kolei, w nawiązaniu do kantowskiej idei wiecznego pokoju, A. Peretiatkowicz zajmował się również problemem wojny w odniesieniu do idei prawa.23826
The multiple dimension of water in the designing and governance of public spaces. The case of Shanghai West Bund Project compared to other Western Waterfronts renovations
In 2010, the municipality of Shanghai started the “Huangpu River Comprehensive Development Plan”, a large regeneration initiative including the Expo site, targeted to revitalize the river banks and generally the urban environment, making Xuhui waterfront one of the six key construction areas of the 12th Five-Year Plan in Shanghai. Formerly one of the largest industrial districts, the so-called West Bund area has experienced a process of substantial transformation, currently still ongoing. Particular attention has been paid to the rehabilitation of the riverside, as a source of landscape enhancement, providing a system of open spaces and public facilities able to meet the dweller’s demands and to attract touristic fluxes. For this reason, the West Bund Project represents one of the most relevant regeneration initiative currently taking place in Shanghai. This paper aims to investigate, starting from this specific case-study, the role of water in the definition of cultural and natural elements, revealing new perspectives for the revitalization of the urban environment
Uprawa roślin cytrusowych w Europie w świetle dawnych traktatów ogrodniczych
The paper is in the form of a review. The aim of the article is to present the history and historic techniques of growing plants of the genus Citrus L. Europe, including Poland. The research methodology was based on the analysis of archival materials, including historical treatises in the field of horticulture and agriculture. They include dissertations written in the 16th-18th centuries by such authors as: G. B. Ferrari, J. Commelin, J. van der Goen, J. Ch. Volkamer, J. S. Elsholtz, W. Sierakowski, A. P. Jabłonowska and J. K. Kluk. The early modern history of the European cultivation of citrus plants, as well as described in the treatises methods of their cultivation and overwintering, including cultivation techniques in the ground and in containers has been described. The types of wooden and brick conservatories erected for this purpose and containers used for cultivation were also taken into account.Artykuł ma formę pracy przeglądowej, której celem jest zaprezentowanie historii i dawnych technik uprawy roślin z rodzaju Citrus L. w Europie, w tym w Polsce. Metodyka badawcza polegała na analizie materiałów archiwalnych, obejmujących historyczne traktaty z zakresu ogrodnictwa i rolnictwa. Należą do nich rozprawy powstałe na przestrzeni XVI-XVIII w. m.in. autorstwa: G. B. Ferrariego, J. Commelina, J. van der Groena, J. Ch. Volkamera, J. S. Elsholtza, oraz W. Sierakowskiego, A. P. Il progetto di architettura nei paesaggi produttivi abbandonati. Caratteri identitari e prospettive per le ex-cave della Valpolicella
Le recenti iniziative nazionali ed internazionali, come i Progetti di Ricerca di Interesse Nazionale PRIN , mostrano che il progetto di architettura nei luoghi marginali e dello scarto rappresentano uno dei temi maggiormente frequentati al giorno d’oggi. Questo scritto indaga le tematiche inerenti i rapporti che legano i paesaggi produttivi e le identità locali, concentrandosi sullo specifico caso studio delle cave dismesse della Valpolicella, in provincia di Verona, con l’obiettivo di identificare le questioni di rilievo rispetto ad un panorama nazionale ampio e diversificato. Colpiti da un impoverimento territoriale, sia per la sottrazione di materiale che per l'impatto ambientale dovuto all'attività di cava, gli ex-siti estrattivi appaiono luoghi sospesi, in attesa di un riconoscimento e di una riconfigurazione spaziale capaci di riabilitarli nel proprio specifico contesto sociale, innescando nuovi cicli di vita. Il paper riassume gli esiti di una ricerca condotta dagli autori e mira alla costruzione di uno stato dell’arte relativo al caso studio selezionato attraverso la ricognizione bibliografica, la selezione di riferimenti alla cultura di progetto significativi, e la verifica sul luogo dello stato di consistenza di suoli e manufatti. Si intende inoltre definire strumenti e temi che conducano a una significativa conoscenza dei contesti evidenziati, in grado di favorire strategie architettoniche per il riciclo di ambiti abbandonati. Il caso delle cave in Valpolicella è esemplificativo di una condizione paesaggistica allarmante rispetto ai temi legati alla dismissione dei siti estrattivi e al conseguente depauperamento del territorio su scala nazionale ed internazionale. A maggior ragione se si considera il paesaggio come prodotto di una lenta e continuativa azione dai risvolti socioeconomici, culturali ed estetici, frutto di un’organizzazione tecnico-formale, da parte dell’uomo che, abitandolo, ha la responsabilità di prendersene cura
