Hybrid Identities and Indigenous Language Sustainability: Reflections on Language Contact and (Neo-)Colonial Practices on Sakhalin Island
This article discusses hybrid identities and language contact of the Indigenous peoples of Southern Sakhalin, Russia's biggest island located in the Far East. It argues that mobility, advanced techniques of navigation, and a wide range of contacts with the neighbouring populations has facilitated multilingualism on Sakhalin. The international spirit and language super-diversity that were preserved until the beginning of the 20th century were significantly violated by the colonial regimes of Japan and Soviet Russia with their strong focus on ethnic and language classification. However, numerous redistributions of administrative boundaries, mass resettlements, and mixed marriages have paradoxically made the intervening of languages and identities in southern Sakhalin even more complicated. These radical changes further challenge current ethnic and language policies as well as development practices that rested on outdated perspectives on ethnic purity and traditional authenticity. These policies result in the exclusion of many Indigenous people, who fail to fit the dominant discourse on language and identity, which is colonial in nature. A more nuanced account of reality, though, raises a variety of questions ranging from special rights, to Indigenous peoples speaking non-Indigenous languages, to the adequacy of language revitalisation in ethnically mixed communities.</jats:p

The article generalizes available theoretical data concerning the investment assurance in the field of agricultural development. The author reveals the essence and tasks of the agriculture investment assurance mechanism. The peculiarities of agriculture, which is significantly influenced by the investment risk growth, are described. The traditional and up-to-date economic instruments for the investment activity regulation in the field of agro-industrial complex are highlighted.
The analysed data indicates an increase in the relative investment activity of agricultural enterprises, which, in the context of a systemic financial and economic crisis, is an extremely important factor for the anti-cyclical regulation and general production activity stimulation.
The share of agriculture in the total volume of accumulated foreign direct investment is relatively small, moreover it declined during 2014-2016. The decrease of indicators attests the agriculture investment attractiveness deterioration for foreign investors. This was simultaneously accompanied by the implementation of appropriate protective mechanisms by the state regulatory bodies.
The author states that the investment attractiveness of Ukrainian agriculture is insufficient and proves the necessity of developing target programs where the key criteria for agriculture investment assurance should be determined.
The author defines the main problems of agriculture investment activity organization; highlights the necessity of elaborating strategic element for attracting investment in agricultural production and increasing the investment attractiveness of agriculture; emphasises the importance of investment in the priority areas of activity, and mainly in fixed assets.
The article states, that the improvement of the agriculture investment attractiveness should be carried out primarily through the improvement of the organizational and economic mechanism of investment activity in agriculture, as well as the use of integrated scientifically grounded measures aimed at supporting the inflow of investments in agricultural production. It is also certain that the support of relevant credit programs is a key element in terms of stimulating high agriculture investment activity in the current environment of Ukraine.
Beijing Poly International Auction (2005-2015)
In this thesis, author has inspected the basic aspects of modern art and antiquities auction market in China (taking the case of Beijing Poly International Auction). Author has completed the study of the main stages of the development the market of Chinese contemporary art and antiquities, analyzed the specifics of Chinese art trade and the usage of auction as a market mechanism. As a result, author has revealed the necessity of sharing the methods of historical descriptions and economic and statistical analysis in the study. On the basis of the study author has identified the specifics of the Chinese auction business and determined the range of problematic issues in the trade of Chinese art and antiquities

Compartment-Specific Proximity Ligation Expands the Toolbox to Assess the Interactome of the Long Non-Coding RNA NEAT1
The nuclear paraspeckle assembly transcript 1 (NEAT1) locus encodes two long non-coding (lnc)RNA isoforms that are upregulated in many tumours and dynamically expressed in response to stress. NEAT1 transcripts form ribonucleoprotein complexes with numerous RNA-binding proteins (RBPs) to assemble paraspeckles and modulate the localisation and activity of gene regulatory enzymes as well as a subset of messenger (m)RNA transcripts. The investigation of the dynamic composition of NEAT1-associated proteins and mRNAs is critical to understand the function of NEAT1. Interestingly, a growing number of biochemical and genetic tools to assess NEAT1 interactomes has been reported. Here, we discuss the Hybridisation Proximity (HyPro) labeling technique in the context of NEAT1. HyPro labeling is a recently developed method to detect spatially ordered interactions of RNA-containing nuclear compartments in cultured human cells. After introducing NEAT1 and paraspeckles, we describe the advantages of the HyPro technology in the context of other methods to study RNA interactomes, and review the key findings in mapping NEAT1-associated RNA transcripts and protein binding partners. We further discuss the limitations and potential improvements of HyPro labeling, and conclude by delineating its applicability in paraspeckles-related cancer research
Commuting to Work: Nucleolar Long Non-Coding RNA Control Ribosome Biogenesis from Near and Far
Gene expression is an essential process for cellular growth, proliferation, and differentiation. The transcription of protein-coding genes and non-coding loci depends on RNA polymerases. Interestingly, numerous loci encode long non-coding (lnc)RNA transcripts that are transcribed by RNA polymerase II (RNAPII) and fine-tune the RNA metabolism. The nucleolus is a prime example of how different lncRNA species concomitantly regulate gene expression by facilitating the production and processing of ribosomal (r)RNA for ribosome biogenesis. Here, we summarise the current findings on how RNAPII influences nucleolar structure and function. We describe how RNAPII-dependent lncRNA can both promote nucleolar integrity and inhibit ribosomal (r)RNA synthesis by modulating the availability of rRNA synthesis factors in trans. Surprisingly, some lncRNA transcripts can directly originate from nucleolar loci and function in cis. The nucleolar intergenic spacer (IGS), for example, encodes nucleolar transcripts that counteract spurious rRNA synthesis in unperturbed cells. In response to DNA damage, RNAPII-dependent lncRNA originates directly at broken ribosomal (r)DNA loci and is processed into small ncRNA, possibly to modulate DNA repair. Thus, lncRNA-mediated regulation of nucleolar biology occurs by several modes of action and is more direct than anticipated, pointing to an intimate crosstalk of RNA metabolic events
