Career diversity and project performance in the Italian television industry
This paper contributes to boundaryless career research by focusing on how past diversity in the career patterns acquired across prior project-based industries and within the same project-based industry may influence current project performance. This study examines the “knowing how” elements accumulated in the past by team members across and within project-based industries as career-related measures of diversity. To address this issue, this paper analyzes the creative context of Italian TV drama series production teams by investigating the career patterns of 1,736 actors who worked in this industry from 1996 to 2010. To quantify the differences between career patterns, optimal matching analysis, is used.
This study finds an inverted U-shaped relationship between past career diversity accumulated across project-based industries and current project-performance; the study finds further that past career diversity achieved within the same project-based industry negatively moderates the inverted U-shaped relationship between past career diversity accumulated across project-based industries and current project-performance. These findings are consistent with the idea that the two patterns of career achievement – across project-based industries and within the same project-based industry – are not complementary but rather serve as imperfect substitutes

In tali contesti, diventa quindi fondamentale gestire
valore nelle imprese creative.

What is critical to success in the movie industry? A study on key success factors in the Italian motion picture industry
This paper investigates key successful factors in the Italian motion picture industry,
with a major focus on human and relational capital as a driver of competitive advantage.
So far in the creative industries this concept assumes a particular relevance, taking into
consideration that the know-how is often spread in social networks of professionals
belonging to different communities of artists. Therefore, the capability of quickly
reconfiguring these competences into specific projects is a critical issue (Lampel and
Shamsie, 2000 and 2003). Moreover, intangible assets play an important role within
these industries. Based on a research on more than one thousand movie projects
produced in the Italian cluster, this paper tries to address the role of intangible factors in

Team composition and project-based organizations: new perspectives for human resource management
Strategic Human Capital, Team Composition and Project Team Performance: The role of flexibility and experience
This chapter seeks to explore what characteristic of human capital at the individual level links to the performance in project-based organizations (PBOs). In particular, we are interested in the enriching of the individual flexibility construct, which has received minimal investigation from the strategic literature. Moreover, the challenges inherent to this topic are arguably more acute in PBOs, where temporary teams are strategically relevant to the success of the performance and individuals need to be more flexible in order to contribute to high levels of project performance. In particular, we support the idea that the flexibility of members enrolled within teams may influence positively the project performance
