More on the relationship between drawing and project
Is there still a need to reflect on a classic theme of the disciplinary research of architecture such as the relationship between design and project? We think so, for a few reasons. It is no coincidence that many architects – defined Masters for their suggestion of a way forward in the project – have directly or indirectly expressed an opinion on this crucial theme of architectural research, reaffirming its importance as an irreplaceable tool. But the ultimate reason is the change in the boundary conditions given by the evolution (or involution) of the expressive instrumentation available to the practice of the project. Faced with the danger that CAD will turn from a tool to help drawing into a design tool, it is not superfluous to reiterate on the one hand the fundamentals of the design discipline and on the other the importance of hand drawing
Survey exercise applied to the different cultural and architectural style reveal important historical aspects with the investigation of the funerary shrines at the Monumentale of Milano. The architectural geometric representation may support and improve the knowledge in the deep connection between measure and space that move the human history
"Restituire" la Basilica di Collemaggio a L'Aquila: geometrie, strutture e modelli per il progetto di conservazione (The drawing of Collemaggio's Basilica in L'Aquila: geometries, structures and models for restoration project).
Il rilievo della Basilica di Collemaggio a L'Aquila si colloca all'interno del progetto di restauro dell'edificio gravemente danneggiato dal sisma del 2009. The project, funded by ENI, involves the "Soprintendenza ai Beni Architettonici e il Paesaggio" of L'Aquila, Politecnico di Milano, University of L'Aquila and Sapienza University of Rome, an interdisciplinary group called to collaborate taking into account both the security needs of the structures and conservation of the architectonic value of the church
Metodologie integrate per la documentazione delle fortificazioni alla moderna della Sardegna. Il baluardo di Santa Croce a Cagliari
The contribution shows an application of the methodology used for the creation of a catalog of sixteenth-century bastions of Sardinia designed by military engineers. Starting from the results of a study that showed a formal repertoire of high quality and a rigorous application of the treaty of Maggi and Castriotto, the survey has been expanded to the contribution of researchers in the disciplinary fields of restoration and history of architecture, archaeologists and geophysicists and has improved the architectural/functional, material and static knowledge of these architectures
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
