Measurement of XeI and XeII velocity in the near exit plane of a low-power Hall effect thruster by light induced fluorescence spectroscopy
No full textNear exit plane non-resonant light induced fluorescence spectroscopy is performed in a Hall effect low-power Xenon thruster at discharge voltage of 250~V and anode flow rate of 0.7~mg/sec. Measurement of the axial and radial velocity components are performed, exciting the transition at ~nm in XeI and
the transition at ~nm in XeII. No significant deviation from the thermal velocity is observed for XeI. Two most probable ion velocities are registered at a given position with respect to the thruster axis, which are mainly attributed to different areas of creation of ions inside the acceleration channel.
The spatial resolution of the set-up is limited by the laser beam size (radius of the order of ~mm) and the fluorescence collection optics, which have a view spot diameter of ~mm

Isoelectric focusing studies of human pancreatic secretion
No full textPure bile, pancreatic and duodenal human juices have been analyzed by isoelectric focusing, either at rest or upon stimulation with caerulein. In rats, stimulation has also been performed by secretin. Twenty bands have been resolved and quantified in the pancreatic secretion. By developing zymograms, a number of isozymes have been identified: 6 iso-amylases [pl's 7.2, 7.1 and 6.6 (major) and pl's 7.4, 6.7 and 5.8 (minor)], 3 lipases [pl's 7.0 and 6.8 (major) and 6.4 (minor)], two major alkaline proteases (pl's 9.8 and 8.4) and one major acidic protease (pl 4.3) and one band of RNAase activity (pl 8.6). The stimulation kinetics follow a mechanism according to Palade, indicating uniform response to secretogogues, parallel intracellular transport and parallel discharge of pancreatic exocrine proteins

No full textThe significant advances achieved in the last years in the field of liver transplantation have led to an almost routinely performance of this therapeutic approach throughout North America and Western Europe. This has led to an increased demand so that today the real problem is the organ availability and the need to use those supplied only for patients with best chances of success. For this reason timing of the operation and patient selection are of critical importance. The ultimate success depends on better surgical procedures and advances in immunosuppressive therapy, but perhaps even more on an accurate patient evaluation. The patient selection is based on standardized medical criteria which constitute the indication in patients with end-stage liver disease and on a careful search for risk factors. To this purpose the evaluation of the tolerance of the hemodinamic stress during clamping of the inferior vena cava is of critical importance and must be carefully evaluated both in patients with known and unknown coronary disease. Another condition to be considered is lung hypertension which is frequently associated with portal hypertension. Finally, important conditions for a good evaluation are the epatopulmonary syndrome and diabetes. The last condition is not a contraindication unless associated with seve-re vascular, cardiac or renal complications
CLIMA ORGANIZACIONAL COMO FATOR DE MOTIVAÇÃO EM UMA INSTITUIÇÃO DE ENSINO SUPERIOR
No full textO artigo foi realizado por meio de uma pesquisa de campo sobre o tema clima organizacional em uma Instituição de Ensino Superior (IES) da cidade de Goiânia-GO, com o objetivo de diagnosticar o clima organizacional na visão dos professores e coordenadores e aprimorar a relação individuo e organização, oferecendo um ambiente de trabalho adequado ao alcance de metas organizacionais e pessoais. Foi analisada a opinião dos colaboradores nos seguintes aspectos: relacionamento interno; desenvolvimento profissional; liderança; imagem da empresa; ambiente físico de trabalho e remuneração. Para tal, utilizaram-se os métodos da pesquisa bibliográfica e aplicação de questionário com 18 questões fechadas a 18 colaboradores da instituição. Conclui-se que a organização possui um ambiente interno positivo, onde através dos resultados da pesquisa exploratória, ficou perceptível que os aspectos de relacionamento interno; desenvolvimento profissional; liderança; imagem da empresa; ambiente físico de trabalho e remuneração está sendo supridos pela empresa em relação aos colaboradores. Desta forma observa-se que o clima organizacional da empresa pesquisada está estruturado, sendo capaz de oferecer satisfação aos seus colaboradores, motivando a retenção de talentos
Responsabilidade Social em IES: a experiência do Projeto Comunitário da PUC em Toledo no Paraná
No full textDurante a formação universitária, muitos acadêmicos têm o primeiro contato com a visão global da sociedade, com seus desafios conflitos e oportunidades. Atrelado a isso surgem, também, as preocupações que envolvem decisões éticas e suas conseqüências para as pessoas, as empresas e a sociedade. Por isso, a universidade pode ser entendida como importante agente influenciador dos seus egressos no que se refere às atitudes a respeito da responsabilidade social. Pretendendo contribuir com este contexto, esta pesquisa apresenta um relato da experiência do Projeto Comunitário, desenvolvido pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Paraná (PUCPR) com a adesão dos alunos do campus Toledo no ano de 2005. Para atingir o objetivo proposto, utilizou-se a pesquisa bibliográfica descritiva que, por meio de análise de documentos da instituição, permitiu reunir informações sobre o referido projeto. Os resultados demonstram a preocupação desta IES em formar não apenas profissionais, mas também cidadãos conscientes das questões sociais do Brasil. A participação dos alunos no Projeto Comunitário logo nos períodos iniciais dos cursos que freqüentam e o aumento do número de instituições que procuram a universidade para adesão ao projeto demonstram a aceitabilidade do mesmo, o que tem garantido o seu sucesso
