Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used

Get PDFKehitysvammaiset henkilöt muodostavat merkittävän potilasryhmän terveydenhuollossa ja käyttävät päivystyspalveluja muuta väestöä useammin. Päivystysympäristö on hoitoympäristönä kiireinen ja kuormittava, ja kehitysvammaisen potilaan kohdalla hoidon tarpeen arviointia voivat vaikeuttaa erityisesti kommunikoinnin haasteet. Potilaan kyky kuvata oireitaan ja vointiaan voi olla rajallinen, mikä korostaa sairaanhoitajan vuorovaikutusosaamisen ja erilaisten tukikeinojen merkitystä.
Tämän opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli tuottaa visuaalinen taskukortti päivystyksessä työskentelevälle sairaanhoitajalle kehitysvammaisen potilaan kanssa tapahtuvan kommunikaation tueksi hoidon tarpeen arvioinnissa. Opinnäytetyön tehtävänä oli selvittää, millainen visuaalinen taskukortti tukee aikuisen kehitysvammaisen potilaan ja sairaanhoitajan välistä kommunikaatiota päivystyksen hoidon tarpeen arvioinnissa. Työn tavoitteena oli tukea potilaan osallisuutta ja ymmärrystä omasta hoidostaan, vähentää päivystystilanteeseen liittyvää pelkoa ja ahdistusta sekä edistää yhdenvertaisuuden toteutumista päivystyshoidossa.
Opinnäytetyö toteutettiin toiminnallisena opinnäytetyönä. Teoreettinen viitekehys rakentui kehitysvammaisuutta, päivystyshoitoa, kommunikaatiota sekä hoidon tarpeen arviointia käsittelevästä kirjallisuudesta. Toiminnallisena tuotoksena laadittiin visuaalinen taskukortti, jossa hyödynnettiin puhetta tukevaa kommunikaatiota eli tässä yhteydessä Papunet-kuvapankin kuvia. Taskukortti on suunniteltu käytännön hoitotyötä tukevaksi välineeksi päivystystilanteisiin, joissa selkeä ja rauhallinen kommunikaatio on keskeistä.
Opinnäytetyön tuotoksena syntynyt taskukortti tarjoaa sairaanhoitajalle konkreettisen apuvälineen kehitysvammaisen potilaan kohtaamiseen ja hoidon tarpeen arvioinnin havainnollistamiseen päivystyksessä. Tuotoksen avulla voidaan tukea potilaan ymmärrystä hoitotilanteen kulusta ja edistää potilaslähtöistä, yhdenvertaista hoitoa päivystyspalveluissa.People with intellectual disabilities constitute a significant patient group in healthcare and use emergency services more often than the general population. The emergency room environment is a busy and stressful care environment, and in the case of a patient with intellectual disabilities, the assessment of the need for care can be particularly difficult due to communication challenges. The patient's ability to describe their symptoms and condition may be limited, which high-lights the importance of the nurse's interaction skills and various support measures.
The purpose of this thesis was to produce a visual pocket card for nurses working in emergency rooms to support communication with patients with intellectual disabilities in assessing the need for care. The task of the thesis was to determine what kind of visual pocket card supports communication between an adult patient with intellectual disabilities and a nurse in assessing the need for care in the emergency room. The aim of the work was to support the patient's participation and understanding of their own care, reduce fear and anxiety related to emergency situations, and promote the realisation of equality in emergency care.
The thesis was carried out as a functional thesis. The theoretical framework was built from literature on intellectual disability, emergency care, communication, and assessment of the need for care. The functional output was a visual pocket card, which utilised speech-supporting communication, i.e., in this context, images from the Papunet image bank. The pocket card is designed as a tool to support practical nursing work in emergency situations, where clear and calm communication is essential.
The pocket card created as an output of the thesis provides nurses with a concrete tool for meeting patients with intellectual disabilities and illustrating the assessment of the need for care in the emergency department. The output can be used to support the patient's understanding of the course of the treatment situation and promote patient-centered, equal care in emergency services

Get PDFOpinnäytetyömme ”Palvelutalon asukkaan hyvä suunhoito” on osa suun terveydenhoidon kehittämishanketta. Hanke on osa Helsingin kaupungin terveyskeskuksen hammashuollon ja Vanhainkotien ja palveluasumisen asiakkaiden hammashoidon kehittämishanketta. Hankkeen tavoitteena on yhdenmukaistaa ja kehittää Helsingin kaupungin palvelutaloissa ja ryhmäkodeissa olevien asukkaiden suun terveydenhoitokäytänteitä lisäämällä hoitohenkilöstön valmiuksia motivoida ja kannustaa asukkaita päivittäisesssä suunhoidossa. Tavoitteena on myös aktivoida itse asukkaita suun terveydenhoitoon. Päivittäisellä suunhoidolla ja säännöllisellä hammashoidolla pyritään edistämään asukkaiden hyvää oloa ja kohentamaan toimintakykyä. Opinnäytetyömme aiheena on "Palvelutalon asukkaan hyvä suunhoito". Opinnäytetyönä suunnittelemme ja toteutamme koulutustilaisuuden vanhusten päivittäisestä suun hoidosta palvelukotien hoitohenkilöstölle. Koulutustilaisuuden tietorakenne tuotettiin pienryhmissä, joista jokainen tuotti oman vastuualueensa mukaisen substanssin. Oma osiomme oli vanhusten tyypillisimmät suun sairaudet ja suun kuivuus. Muiden ryhmien substanssialueet olivat, vanhuksen terve suu ja sen merkitys toimintakykyyn ja hyvään oloon, vanhuksen yleissairauksien ja suun terveyden vastavuoroinen yhteys, vanhuksen ravinnon ja suun terveyden vastavuoroisuus, vanhuksen päivittäinen suun terveydenhoito ja hammashoitopalvelut, niiden sisältö ja saatavuus. Oman osiomme tietorakenteessa käsittelemme vanhuksen suun tyypillisimmät suun sairaudet, karieksen, gingiviitin eli ientulehduksen, parodontiitin eli kiinnityskudostuhon, limakalvomuutokset, suun syövät sekä suun kuivuuden. Käsittelimme näiden sairauksien etiologiaa, oireita sekä luonnetta vanhuksilla. Suun tyypillisimmät sairaudet ja suun kuivuus vaikuttavat merkittävästi palvelukodin asukkaiden elämänlaatuun. Kivulias suu vaikeuttaa syömistä sekä hankaloittaa normaalia sosiaalista kanssakäymistä. Näin ollen vanhuksen elämänlaatu heikkenee. Osiomme ”Vanhusten tyypillisimmät suun sairaudet ja suun kuivuus” hankkeessa oli tärkeä, sillä yleisesti suun sairauksista tiedetään melko vähän. Jotta palvelukodin asukkaiden elämänlaatu turvattaisiin, tulee hoitohenkilökunnan tietää suun sairauksien, yleissairauksien ja suun terveyden välinen yhteys.
