The emerging legal framework for private sector development in Viet Nam's transitional economy
Get PDFA major objective of Viet Nam's transition to a market economy has been to reactivate the private sector in a mixed economy. Several new laws have been introduced in the past five years to implement this policy and to create an enabling environment for the private sector. The author reviews some of the more important laws and regulations that affect Viet Nam's private sector activities, including laws on real property, intellectual property, companies, domestic investment, foreign investment, bankruptcy, contracts, and dispute resolution. Anti-monopoly law has not yet been introduced in Viet Nam. The issue of competition is addressed in the context of trade law, the relative roles of the state and private sector, and restrictions in company law. These areas all establish the foundation of a legal framework for a market economy. The author concludes that Viet Nam's legal framework, like China's, is still influenced by ideology, which causes problems in such areas as private ownership of real property and with such fundamental legal concepts as"due process of law."It is noted that the private sector is constrained by the lack of an independent judiciary, the absence of private land ownership, other uncertainties in property law that limit the develpoment of financial markets, and the inherent bias of the system in favor of the state sector (and collective ownership). Also noted is a law-abiding attitude, equally important to development has been slow to develop. The author goes on to point out that the foreign investment process is too complicated, and its company law too restrictive. A first priority should be to strreamline regulations, as well as liberalize trade policy and increase efforts in privatization of state enterprises. In this respect the author notes that export processing zones may be a useful interim instrument to attract foreign investment but should be phased out over time. Get PDFEffect of weak carbide formers, Mo, Mn and Si, on intergranular corrosion (IGC) of low-Cr ferritic stainless steel is analyzed after IGC test using TEM and three dimensional atom probe. The co-addition ofMo, Mn and Si to low-Cr ferritic stainless steel effectively prevents IGC by forming along grain boundaries CMn4MoSi intermetallic compounds, which act not only as carbon trap sites but also as diffusion barrier against solute Cr diffusion toward grain boundaries. The evolution of citizenship education in nation-building in Singapore and Hong Kong
Get PDFCitizenship Education is a highly political agenda for politicians and governments, especially those of the emerging nations studied in transitology. Political circumstances that surround the birth of ล nation are inextricably tied up with the unique economic, social and even globalisation contexts that shape the formation of that particular nation. Citizenship education mirrors the political climate of such circumstances. A ruling government's policies and ideologies are often transmitted to the masses through education in the form of citizenship education in its evolving forms that take after the political orientations of the nation. A historical-comparative study of Singapore and Hong Kong is the focus of the thesis and a combined case in point. This historical-comparative approach presents a chronological and qualitative analysis of Singapore and Hong Kong that links the past to the present, and points to future direction on how citizenship education has transformed in its focus, dimensions, content, message and values. Theories of nationalism, nation-state and national identity provide a basis for the understanding of the political, economic and social factors that impact nation- building and the subsequent evolvement of Civic and Moral Education in Singapore and Hong Kong after independence. In an analysis of the content-domain of citizenship education, Singapore’s curriculum is shown to reflect the ruling party's ideologies infused through National Education, where the Singapore story is sacrosanct and has to be mastered by all students so that the continual survival instinct is preserved at ill times. Hong Kong covers more breadth with a curriculum that includes the history of China that can be taught critically and a Chinese cultural heritage element that is infused into all the Key Learning subjects. The Life Event Approach is also more practical and relevant to the students' appreciation of the more individual-growth values learnt. Singapore is identified as an Objective/Globalised nation-state with a parallel Objective/Globalised National Identity that has a predominantly strong political leadership and economic priority in its nation-building foundation. It recognizes the need to rise up to the global challenges ahead. Hong Kong has a combination of Objective/Subjective/Globalised region-state with a parallel Objective/Subjective/Globalised National Identity with China due to its cultural heritage component inherited from China and also the need to meet global challenges. The thesis demonstrates how education can be used as a channel to serve the ideologies of the politicians who have a direct stake in shaping the focus of the political content in citizenship education in building national identity. It also illustrates how the respective political circumstances, economic reasons, social contexts and globalisation challenges drive the evolvement of the citizenship education in both Singapore and Hong Kong
Determination of Hydrogen Diffusion Parameters of Ferritic Steel from Electrochemical Permeation Measurement under Tensile Loads
Get PDFThe hydrogen permeation experiment, performed with a stepwise permeation sequence involving "1st permeation-desorption-2nd permeation under loading, demonstrates that fine blister cracks are frequently observed on the steel surface in hydrogen charging side after the 2nd permeation under the load over 95% of yield strength of the steel. To accommodate the experimental phenomena under the loading conditions, a numerical model is developed for determination of hydrogen diffusion parameters of the sour-resistant ferritic steel evaluated under tensile stress in plastic ranges. To solve the modified diffusion equation, a numerical finite difference method (FDM) is employed. The diffusion parameters determined by curve-fitting with the newly proposed diffusion equation indicates that, with the transition of mechanical domain from local-plasticity to generalized-plasticity, a big increase in the crack formation rate and hydrogen capture rate per irreversible trap are observed. It suggests that the transition probability for hydrogen transport from interstitial lattice site to irreversible trap site increases with the stress level. (C) The Author(s) 2014. Published by ECS. Kundtillfredsställelse i Kb Ollas Bokföring Ky
Get PDFSyftet med lärdomsprovet var att undersöka vad kunderna hos Kb Ollas Bokföring Ky ansåg om tjänsterna som erbjuds. Det kollades också vad de yngre kunderna ansåg om tjänsterna gentemot de äldre.
Den teoretiska referensramen består av teori om tjänster och tjänstekvalitet. Som källor användes böcker och internetsidor som behandlade ämnena kundtillfredsställelse, undersökningsmetoder, tjänster osv. Exempel på författare inom områdena var Grön-roos och Echeverrri & Edvardsson.
Undersökningen genomfördes med hjälp av ett frågeformulär som delades ut åt kun-derna vid besök på kontoret i samband med konsultationen. Om frågeformulären glömdes att dela ut skickades de per post åt kunden tillsammans med ett frankerat ku-vert.
Resultaten av undersökningen visade att kunderna är tillfredsställda och nöjda med tjänsterna och företaget i fråga. Då man jämförde de yngres åsikter mot de äldres visade sig att de yngre inte var lika kritiska som de äldre, men båda var nog ändå nöjda.
Slutsatsen var att kunderna nog är tillfredsställda med Kb Ollas Bokföring Ky och dess tjänster. Förbättringsförslag kom det inte heller så mycket, så det betyder att kunderna inte kräver några konkreta förändringar i tjänsterna.The objective of this survey was to discover what the customers thought of the service provided by Kb Ollas Bokföring Ky, a bookkeeping agency. The study also focused on whether younger customers’ views deviated from older customers’ opinions.
The theoretical framework is based on literature and websites handling topics such as customer satisfaction, survey methods, and services. Examples of authors in these fields are Grönroos and Echeverri & Edvardsson.
The survey was carried out in the form of a printed questionnaire which was given to the customers when they visited the office for consultation. In cases when the ques-tionnaire was not given in person it was sent by mail to the customer together with a stamped envelope addressed to the author of this study.
The result of the survey shows that the customers are satisfied and pleased with the services and company. When comparing young and older customers’ opinions it is evi-dent that the young customers are not as critical towards the services as the older ones, yet both categories are still satisfied.
In conclusion, customers are satisfied with Kb Ollas Bokföring Ky and their services. No major improvement suggestions were put forward, which mean that the customers do not request any particular changes in the service concept
