Abstract : The construction of Fernando Henrique Cardoso?s legacy has been developed based on the mark of structuring ruptures and dichotomies, characteristics that are both articulated around the idea of the transition from the intellectual to the political activity, in a process that reinforces strong features of the Brazilian political imagination. Anchored in a criticism of this view, this study investigates what the process of formation of the author?s legacy developed until the present moment reveal about the forms through which the ?Brazilian political thought? is produced and reinvented, or, in other words, what his personal intellectual trajectory represents in relation to the collective thought trajectory designated by this expression. Two main interpretative theses are tested throughout this work: the first one is that the continuity and the unity between the several moments of Cardoso?s intellectual trajectory (denied by the approaches that, until the present moment, have been systematizing his legacy) can be reconstructed and recuperated if the emphasis of the analysis lies in the political specificity of his writings - assuming that both the reconstructing and the recuperation, obviously, do not fail to consider possible inconsistencies, incoherences and changes in the beliefs of the author throughout his trajectory; and second , that such political thought , without disregarding other sources generally labeled as ?universal? , is structured from a selective, systematic and continuous dialogue with some of the main forms of interpretation of the policy in the country, this dialogue , on the one hand , makes it possible to show the existence of a worldview to act as ?common thread? for all of his thought (giving him a sense of coherence), and on the other, to understand the impact of this ressignificador thinking about such matrices. The work is organized in three parts: in the first, the field of the Brazilian political thought is theoretical and methodologically questioned; in the second part, the specificity of the author?s political reflection is discussed based on two different moments (the establishment and the consolidation of his political beliefs); and, in the third part, in an attempt of approximating the two previous parts, the specificity of the insertion of the author?s political thought in the Brazilian political thought field is discussed, which is based on two variables: the filiations and the receptions

Reel syndrome, on the other hand, is observed after external manipulation, intentional or unintentional, in which the leads move along their transverse axis and is considered a variant of Twiddler syndrome. We present the clinical case of a 91-year-old female who, after pacemaker implantation, presented with dizziness and chest discomfort following constant manipulation of the pacemaker, resulting in complete retraction of the lead tip into the pouch, which is unusual in the literature to date.Medicin

5,7,3′-trihydroxy-3,4′-dimethoxyflavone inhibits the tubulin polymerization and activates the sphingomyelin pathway

Flavonoids are polyphenolic compounds which display a vast array of biological activities and are among the most promising anti-cancer agents. The derivative of quercetin, 5,7,3'-trihydroxy-3,4'-dimethoxyflavone (THDF), is a natural flavonoid that inhibits cell proliferation and induces apoptosis in human leukemia cells. Here we show that THDF induces cell-cycle arrest in the M phase and inhibits tubulin polymerization. This was associated with the accumulation of cyclin B1 and p21(Cip1), changes in the phosphorylation status of cyclin B1, Cdk1, Cdc25C, and MPM-2, and activation of the acidic sphingomyelinase (ASMase). Moreover, desipramine attenuated THDF-mediated cell death, indicating a crucial role of ASMase in the mechanism of cell death. In vivo studies on the athymic nude mouse xenograft model also confirmed that THDF inhibits growth of human leukemia cells and suggest that this compound may have therapeutic value.122113101,3943,164Q2Q2SCI

The objective of the project is to suggest instructional and engineering methods that simplify the comprehending and usage of the calculation of the Family Agricultural Unit (UAF) by Homogeneous Physical Units (UFH) in the planning process for the city of San Jerónimo de Ayapel, Córdoba. The project methodology is structured in four main phases: the collection and analysis of preliminary information, the consolidation and identification of key variables, the articulation of a proposal of pedagogical and technological tools, and the socialization of the project. As a result, we propose the implementation of a feedback workshop and a geovisor as tools for understanding and using UFH calculations. These tools would allow users, both municipal and community, to identify and use each of the byproducts of the calculation of the UAF in the decision-making of the territory.Agencia Nacional de Tierra

Treatment of anterior open bite with palatal crib and chincup: study of dentoalveolar and soft tissue effects

The aim of this clinical, prospective and randomized study was to investigate the dentoalveolar and soft tissue effects of anterior open bite palatal crib and chincup treatment. The study group consisted of 60 caucasian children, of both genders, in mixed dentition phase, with permanent incisors and first molars completely erupted, presenting a Class I malocclusion with anterior open bite. This sample was randomly divided into two groups of 30 individuals each one. The treatment group (Group 1) had an initial mean age of 8.33 years, while the control group (Group 2) had an average of 8.61 years old. The evaluation period comprised the interval of 1 year between the first (T1) and the second (T2) lateral cephalometric radiographs. The experimental group used removable cribs in integral period (except for meals and oral hygiene) and chincup to sleep, with a force level of 450 to 500 g per side, passing 45º above the oclusal plane. The means and standard deviations for linear and angular cephalometric measurements were statistically analyzed by the non-paired “t” test, in a level of significance set at p< 0.05. Initial cephalometric variables were shown to be similar between the groups. The intergroup assessment of the alterations verified no significant difference in molar eruption level or in soft tissue anteroinferior height, suggesting that vertical control effects expected of the chincup did not occurred. On the other hand, dentoalveolar modifications in the anterior region were evident, with statistically significant extrusion, retrusion and lingual tipping of both upper and lower incisors. Such effects, probably due to the cribs, were the main responsible for the closure of the open bites in the experimental group. However, these hard tissue alterations did not implied expressive soft tissue modifications, once the variables related to soft profile did not present any statistically significant changes when the groups were contrasted

Of Manses and Convents: Violence, Memory, and Identity in Casablanca la bella by Fernando Vallejo and En el lejero by Evelio Rosero Diago

This thesis examines the ways in which the diegetic spaces of the manses and convents as portrayed in two Colombian novels, Casablanca la bella (2013) by Fernando Vallejo and En el lejero (2007) by Evelio Rosero Diago serve as scenarios for the representation of the violences that pervade contemporary Colombian society. It shines a light on the ways in which these violences assault the senses and leave their mark on individuals and collectivities. It follows the novels in their wanderings through the topohistoric and phenomenological milestones of the interminable Colombian civil war—The 'Violencia' and its sequels. It explores how these violences and the corollary traumas and affects generated by them interact with these spaces and their toposociohistoric context to generate and reconstitute collective memories. Finally, it focuses on how the narrative spaces and the memories they foster and generate may feed the process of re-construction or re-formulation of a stable national identity for contemporary Colombians.Master of ArtsThis thesis examines the manses and convents in two Colombian novels-- Casablanca la bella (2013) by Fernando Vallejo and En el lejero (2007) by Evelio Rosero Diago—to explore how the violences that pervade contemporary Colombia are performed within their walls and how collective memories and national identity may emerge from the interaction of the traumas and affects that occur in these spaces
