    Human-Nature Relationships in Raja Ampat: How Tourism Development in Coastal Areas Affects Residents’ Local Wisdom and Social Wellbeing

    This article illustrates residents’ local wisdom and social well-being regarding tourism development in a coastal area. Tourism development is believed to cause various impacts in various aspects of residents’ life, such as economic, socio-cultural and environmental. This article will explain how those impacts, added to residents’ local wisdom, result in different perceptions from them. The research which was conducted for this article used qualitative methods, involving 18 informants in semi-structured interviews in Saporkren and Sawingrai, Raja Ampat. The research sought to elaborate the relationship between impacts, residents’ perceptions and their social well-being in the context of tourism development. The findings began with the categorisation of human-nature relationship eras, which are the ‘Before Trading Era’, the ‘Trading Era’ and the ‘Tourism Era’. It continued with analysis of factors behind residents’ perceptions and social well-being, for instance nature quality, local wisdom and tourism development itself

    In marketing some snack products, in Indonesia there are still many who use human power, this can certainly cut the cost of operating the store to pay employees. To solve the problem, in this Final Task a vending machine was created. This vending machine can only detect coins with 500 and 1.000 rupiah. To detect the amount of money put in by the buyer, here the author utilizes a timer of arduino and several magnets to calculate the speed of coins inserted into the coin celah by the buyer. As a result of testing this tool, vending machine is able to service the purchase transaction of cereal type snacks with a time of ranging from 12 seconds per transaction, the type of snack beng beng with a time of about 15 seconds per transaction and a type of slai olai snack with a transaction time of about 11 seconds. The success rate of the testing that has been done against vending machines is 90% of 10 transactions

    Effective interventions for micro and small enterprises to reach the preferable future of the Canggu area in Bali

    As tourist arrivals to Bali have increased steadily over the past 40 years, the crowds from Kuta and Seminyak have started to shift towards the now booming area of Canggu. Rapid developments present the community with the challenge of preservation vs. economic growth that will impact the destination’s future. The objective of this study is to assess, analyze and evaluate the present and future situation of the Canggu area in order to give advice on the match between the area's supply and demand. The study provides Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) with recommendations on effective interventions in order to strengthen their strategic position to achieve the destination’s preferable future. This study used four different research methods: desk research, participant observations, surveys with tourists, and semi-structured interviews with enterprises. Results show that the most impactful difference between MSEs lies in the level of strategy refinement, which suggests that creating a circular model between MSEs could strengthen the area of Canggu

    ABSTRAK Dalam penelitian skripsi ini penulis meneliti tentang Persepsi Wisatawan Terhadap Keberadaan Komunitas Seni Karakter Kota Tua. Tujuan penelitian ini guna mengetahui persepsi positif dan negatif dari adanya Komunitas Seni Karakter di kawasan Kota Tua, serta mengetahui dampak yang ditimbulkan dari adanya perspektif wisatawan terhadap Komunitas Seni Karakter Kota Tua. Adapun subjek pada penelitian ini ialah Komunitas Seni Karakter, serta beberapa wisatawan yang berkunjung ke Kota Tua. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini ialah menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif, dan disertai metode kuisioner sebagai metode pengumpulan data. Dalam penelitian ini, penulis menggambarkan faktor yang mempengaruhi persepsi wisatawan, dampak dari persepsi wisatawan. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa adanya faktor yang menyebabkan timbulnya persepsi dari wisatawan. Terdapat tiga faktor yang menjadi kunci utama untuk wisatawan dapat memiliki persepsi terhadap Komunitas Seni Karakter. Adapun faktor tersebut ialah, kualitas penampilan yang dilakukan oleh para manusia karakter, interaksi yang dilakukan oleh manusia karakter terhadap wisatawan, dan pengetahuan yang cukup luas terkait karakter yang diperankan dan terdapat pula dampak yang dihasilkan karena adanya persepsi wisatawan tersebut. Dampak positif yang ditimbulkan akibat perspektif wisatawan yaitu adanya masukan yang membangun guna mengembangkan kawasan dan komunitas untuk lebih baik lagi dan memberikan gambaran keinginan wisatawan terhadap komunitas. Serta dampak negatif yang ditimbulkan akibat perspektif wisatawan yaitu, menimbulkan rasa kekecewaan yang cukup mendalam bagi komunitas. Kata Kunci : Kota Tua, Persepsi Wisatawan, dan Komunitas Seni Karakter. ************ ABSTRACT In this thesis research, the author explores the Perception of Tourists Towards the Existence of the Old Town Character Art Community. The purpose of this study is to find out the positive and negative perceptions of the existence of the Character Art Community in the Kota Tua area, as well as to find out the impact caused by the perspective of tourists on the Kota Tua Character Art Community. The subjects in this study are the Kota Tua Area Management Unit (UPK), the Character Art Community, and several tourists who visit Kota Tua. The method used in this study is to use a descriptive qualitative approach, and is accompanied by in-depth observation methods and questionnaires as data collection methods. In this study, the author describes the factors that affect tourist perception, the impact of tourist perception. The results of this research indicate that there are factors that cause perceptions from tourists. There are three factors that are the main keys for tourists to have a perception of the Character Arts Community. These factors are, the quality of the performances made by the human characters, the interactions carried out by the human characters with tourists, and quite extensive knowledge regarding the characters played and there is also an impact resulting from the perception of the tourists. The positive impact resulting from the tourist perspective is that there is constructive input to develop the area and community better and provide an overview of tourists' desires for the community. This paper describing the demographic, social and political contexts of the two countries to understanding how those factors and policy of the state contribute to their wellbeing condition. Secondary data Analysis of Indonesia and Malaysia have shown that conceptually there is a positive relationship between the integrative and comprehensive government policies toward the declining process of social exclusion, especially multiple deprivation related to unemployment and relative poverty. The process of social exclusion based on the vertical dimension can be dealt with if the government policy can be consistently implemented within a certain time period
