Remembering the Jewish student dormitory Belgrade
Jevrejski studentski dom se nalazio u zgradi sinagoge u Beogradu u ulici Maršala Birjuzova broj 19, tada Kosmajska 19.
Za sve njih Jevrejski studentski dom je bilo PORODIČNO UTOČIŠTE.The Jewish students' dormitory was located in the building of the synagogue in Belgrade at 19 Maršala Birjuzova Street, then Kosmajska 19. On the left side of the building, from the ground floor to the third floor. The rooms, the dormitories, were on the second and third floors. There was a classroom on the first floor and a dining room on the ground floor. On the second floor were the male and female bathrooms. The Jewish dormitory was formed at the end of 1945. It lasted until 1957 or 1958 when there were no more students in the dormitory. Residents were post-war homeless people, whose families and households were completely or partially destroyed, these were young people who happened to be alive in concentration or extermination camps, who returned from wars in partisans or were illegal, or hid behind during the occupation by Nazi executioners or by domestic quislings, they either returned from German or Soviet captivity or could not afford to rent private rooms if they were from the interior. They were mostly from Serbia, but they were also from Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. For all of them, the Jewish dormitory was a FAMILY SHELTER.Autor je sa ovim radom 2015. godine učestvovao na 59. nagradnom konkursu Saveza jevrejskih opština Srbije. With this paper, in 2015, the author participated in the 59th award competition of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Serbia
"It was pure coincidence to stay alive..." Eva Timar - one life story
Nove publikacije u seriji posvećujemo svim bivšim zatočenicima koncentracijskih logora i njihovim porodicama. Zahvaljujemo im na podršci i ukazanom povjerenju. In front of you is the first issue of the series of biographies that will be published according to the order of events. Our goal is to present people who were imprisoned in one of the three concentration camp subcamps in the Salzgitter area. It is not always possible to write comprehensive biographies; sometimes we report only biographical fragments or special aspects. The "Memorial and Documentation Center Drütte" archive contains a wide selection of source materials that will form the basis of the biography series. In large parts of the brochure, former inmates with whom we had personal contact speak, whose interviews, memoirs, letters or other personal testimonies exist in our archive. The quotes impressively show how big the break was and what impact the persecution and imprisonment in the concentration camp had on their lives. We dedicate new publications in the series to all former concentration camp detainees and their families. We thank them for their support and trust.Original knjige na nemačkom jeziku dostupan je u JDB preko linka (the original book in German is available in JDL via the link): [https://jevrejskadigitalnabiblioteka.rs/handle/123456789/2653

Nell’anno di Nikola Tesla
The 150th Anniversary Celebration of Nikola Tesla
The paper deals with the 150th anniversary celebration of Nikola Tesla, the greatest ever Yugoslav scientist. Due to his origins, Tesla is contended between Serbia and Croatia, but he is also considered to be an American scientist since he registered most of his patents in the USA. Although there is some dissension between Serbia and Croatia regarding the historical facts about Tesla’s life, it can be asserted that Tesla appears to be an example of collaboration among the former Yugoslav countries.
Tesla, however, deserves to be remembered as well as the author of autobiographical prose (My Inventions; Some Personal Recollections; A Strange Experience by Nikola Tesla) and as the protagonist of many works published in Serbo-Croatian and in English, such as Miloš Crnjanski’s drama Tesla (1969) or The Hunger and Ecstasy of Vampires (1996) by Brian M. Stableford, for example. This fact should not be neglected and actually should be researched more fully

Nikola Vitkov Gučetić and His Cultural Circle
In this article the author deals with the cultural circle surrounding a philosopher and polyhistorian of 16th century Dubrovnik by the name of Nikola Vitkov Gučetić (Latin: Nicolaus Viti Gozzius, Italian: Nicolò Vito di Gozze, Nicolo Vito di Gozzi). In his published works, most of which he wrote in his summer home in Trsteno, he brings into his dialogues certain renowned citizens of Dubrovnik, such as Maruša Gundulić, Cvijeta Zuzorić, Miho Monaldi and Dinko Ranjina. The literary source for our topic is primarily Gučetić’s published work. Apart from those individuals who can be more directly connected to Gučetić and Trsteno, his circle would probably also include Nika Zuzorić, Sabo Bobaljević Mišetić, Stjepan Nikola Bunić, Nikola Lujo Gučetić and Antun Medo. Gučetić probably knew them and befriended them, and so they may have influenced his philosophical work to an extent. Therefore, in this article the author also presents details about these citizens of Dubrovnik, though information on some of them is scant. It would be extremely superficial on the author’s part to exclude these individuals from Gučetić’s cultural and intellectual circle, for it is because of their influence that Gučetić has made a significant contribution to Renaissance philosophical thought in Croatia
