On the design of enhancement cavities for second harmonic generation

Zimmermann o intencionalnosti
Zimmermann intencionalnost shvaća kao esencijalnu relacionalnost, tj. odnos mentalnoga stanja prema predmetu. Makar ne zastupa tezu o intencionalnosti kao oznaci mentalnoga, tvrdi da je intencionalnost prikladan kriterij za klasifikaciju mentalnih stanja u međusobno isključive kategorije. Suprotno tim izjavama, ne čini se da je pojam intencionalnosti u njegovim djelima posve jasan, niti da ima eksplanatornu ulogu koju mu je Zimmermann namijenio. Zimmermann se pri klasifikaciji mentalnih stanja češće poziva na razliku između osjetnih i duhovnih, za koju često iznosi i detaljne argumente. U ovom radu iznosim probleme s Zimmermannovim shvaćanjem intencionalnosti, te pojašnjavam alternativnu podjelu mentalnih stanja koju se u njegovim djelima može pronaći. Ključni dio argumenata u prilog toj alternativnoj podjeli Zimmermannovo je inzistiranje na postojanju fiziološki neuvjetovanih momenata u ljudskoj spoznaji, a glavni su primjeri skolastički shvaćena apstrakcija i relativno opažanje. Analizom tih primjera pokazuje se da su višestruko problematični, te da ne pružaju adekvatnu potporu značajnim tezama koje Zimmermann na njima temelji.</jats:p
Distributed Information Services in Physics
The concept of distributed information services maintained by a distributed work force for scientific information is described. Realizations and experiences for Physics (since 1995), Marine Sciences, and dissertation theses in physics are presented. Technically the information is gathered from the local web servers of the worldwide distributed research institutes and departments, by distributed Harvest-gatherers, under the control of national learned societies or regional other institutions. Queries are answered by a network of mirrors of Harvest-brokers. For PhysNet, a Charter sets the rules to assure a noncommercial, free full-text access service, under the control of the set of national national learned societies involved, but unbiased to any single one

A Quantum Model for the Dynamics of Cold Dark Matter
A model for cold dark matter is given by the solution of a coupled Schrodinger-Poisson equation system. We present a numerical scheme for integrating these equations, discussing the problems arising from their nonlinear and nonlocal character. After introducing and testing our numerical approach, we illustrate key features of the system by numerical examples in 1 + 1 dimensions. In particular, we study the properties of asymptotic states to which the numerical solutions converge for artificial initial conditions
Collagen-Based Engineered Heart Muscle
Cardiac muscle engineering has evolved over nearly 20 years from a scientific oddity to a mainstream technology with a wide range of applications. Of the many published methods it appears that hydrogels constitute the preferred scaffolds for myocardial tissue engineering and support of organotypic development.
