Get PDFThe impact of the work of Thomas Samuel Kuhn It is due, in large part, to the emphasis with which this author highlighted the relevance of factors external to scientific knowledge in the development of scientific practice. But also the relativistic and subjectivist consequences that emerge from many of the positions that he defended in his first publications contributed to the wide dissemination of his ideas. However, in his later writings, Kuhn seems to have qualified some of his more radical views. In this work, some critical observations about his work are formulated. It is also argued that the modifications subsequently introduced by this author only constitute partial alterations of the most extreme theses that characterize his work.El impacto de la obra de Thomas Samuel Kuhn se debe, en gran parte, al énfasis con que este autor destacó la relevancia de factores externos al conocimiento científico en el desarrollo de la práctica científica. Pero también las consecuencias relativistas y subjetivistas que se desprenden de muchas de las posiciones que defendió en sus primeras publicaciones contribuyeron con la amplia difusión de sus ideas. No obstante, en sus últimos escritos, Kuhn parece haber matizado algunas de sus concepciones más radicales. En este trabajo, se formulan algunas observaciones críticas sobre su obra. Se argumenta, además, que las modificaciones posteriormente introducidas por este autor sólo constituyen alteraciones parciales de las tesis más extremas que caracterizan su obra

Cartea sa „Structura revoluţiilor ştiinţifice‖ (The Structure of Scientific Revolutions), apărută în 1962 devine un studiu de referinţă asupra evoluţiei ştiinţei.
În „Structura revoluţiilor ştiinţifice‖, Thomas Kuhn a formulat o teorie asupra naturii şi dinamicii ştiinţei; teoria lui Kuhn are propriul său pachet de concepte de bază ca: paradigmă, ştiinţă normală, ştiinţă extraordinară, revoluţie ştiinţifică, probleme, anomalie, criză, comunitate ştiinţifică. Get PDFThis research explains the integration of Thomas Samuel Kuhn's thoughts in the development of Islamic scholarship in the modern era. The main focus of this research is to highlight paradigm changes in scientific development and its integration in Islamic scholarship. The aim of this research seeks to apply Kuhn's thinking, namely the concept of scientific revolution in developing Islamic scholarship to be able to produce a valuable contribution and solution to the problems faced by Muslims due to technological developments which have given birth to a new paradigm in Islamic scholarship. This research method is qualitative in nature, prepared using library materials or literature studies. This research provides an overview of the scientific revolution put forward by Kuhn and its integration in the development of Islamic science in the modern era, which from Kuhn's thoughts can be applied in the development of Islamic science with the aim of encouraging Islamic thought regarding anomalies and crises as well as revolutions in Islamic science. which can develop understanding of science and produce solutions in facing Islamic scientific problems resulting from developments in time and technology in the modern era.

Penelitian ini menerangkan tentang integrasi pemikiran Thomas Samuel Kuhn dalam perkembangan keilmuan Islam di era modern. Fokus utama penelitian ini untuk menyoroti perubahan paradigma dalam perkembangan ilmiah dan integrasinya dalam keilmuan Islam. Tujuan penelitian ini berupaya menerapkan pemikiran Thomas Samuel Kuhn, yakni konsep revolusi ilmiah dalam mengembangankan keilmuan Islam untuk dapat menghasilkan sebuah kontribusi yang bernilai dan solusi terhadap masalah yang dihadapi oleh umat Islam akibat perkembangan teknologi yang melahirkan paradigma baru dalam keilmuan Islam. Metode Penelitian ini bersifat kualitatif disusun dengan bahan kepustakaan atau studi pustaka. Penelitian ini memberikan gambaran tentang revolusi ilmiah yang dikemukakan oleh Thomas Samuel Kuhn dan integrasinya dalam perkembangan keilmuan Islam di era modern, yang dari pemikiran Thomas Samuel Kuhn tersebut dapat diaplikasikan dalam perkembangan keilmuan Islam dengan tujuan mendorong pemikiran keislaman terhadap anomali dan krisis serta revolusi dalam keilmuan Islam yang dapat mengembangkan pemahaman mengenai keilmuan dan menghasilkan solusi dalam menghadapi permasalahan-permasalahan keilmuan Islam akibat dari perkembangan zaman dan teknologi di era modern

No full textThis dataset holds the MATLAB codes for the PhD thesis "Overcoming the Electricity Grid Capacity and Battery Thermal Limitations of Electric Vehicle Fast Charging using Stationary Energy Storage and Cell Thermal Modelling" by Thomas Bryden.
The files for Chapter 3 include codes to predict daily demand at fast charging stations. The files for Chapter 4 include codes to determine electric vehicle waiting times at fast charging stations. The files for Chapter 5 include codes for a battery thermal model as well as least squares regression to determine heat capacity of cells.

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
