Contributions to the introduction of Itoh-Paeonia in the Republic of Moldova
Only AbstractThe achievements of the Japanese breeder Toichi Itoh, from the middle of the 20th
century (1948), had a crucial impact on peony breeding. By successfully crossing the woody peony ′Alice Harding′ with the herbaceous peony ′Kakoden′, he obtained
absolutely exceptional hybrids: the leaves are similar to the woody peony, and the habit is similar to the herbaceous peony. In the cold season of the year, the aerial part dies. According to recent classifications, they are attributed to intersectional hybrids (Moutan section x Paeonia section). Of the 36 seeds resulting from the hybridizations, 9 plants inherited the characters of the woody variety, and the rest of the seeds generated herbaceous plants. Toichi Itoh died in 1956, before being able to enjoy the results of his work. The researcher's work was continued by his assistant Shigao-Oshida, who in 1963 recorded the flowering of hybrids for the first time. The first generation of Itoh-hybrids
was promoted by the American horticulturist Luis Smirnov, who bought Toichi Itoh's patent. Later, as a co-author, he patented the varieties ′Yellow Emperor′, ′Yellow Dream′
etc. After a break in peony breeding, in 1988, the American breeder R. Anderson obtained significant results, fascinating the world with the Itoh-hybrids created, declaring that these robust, exceptional varieties are the flowers of the future (Martin Page, 1997)
Differences in Social Preferences - Are They Profitable for the Firm?
This paper analyzes the impact of heterogeneous (social) preferences on the weighting and combination of performance measures as well as on a firm’s profitability. We consider rivalry, egoism and altruism as extreme forms within the continuum of possible preferences and show that the principal can typically exploit both the altruistic and rivalistic behavior of his agents. Firm profits reach their maximum value if the agents are differentiated as much as possible in their individual characteristics. We provide further insight; namely, that in order to realize these gains in profitability, it is necessary to reallocate participation in performance measures such that competitive agents are privileged as compared to altruistic agents. In this context, stochastic interdependencies are of importance since they yield overlapping functions of the share parameters, causing additional adaptations in the optimal design of the wage compensation system.Social Preferences; Rivalry; Altruism; Egoism; Team Composition; Performance Measurement

Natronolimnohabitans
Na.tro.no.lim.no.ha’bi.tans. Arabic n. natrun or natron, soda, sodium carbonate; Gr. fem. n. limne, lake; L. masc. n. habitans, an inhabitant; N.L. masc. n. Natronolimnohabitans, an organism living in soda lakes. The genus Natronolimnohabitans represents a currently monospecies alkaliphilic haloarchaeon inhabiting hypersaline soda lakes. Initially, the type species was placed in the genus Natronolimnobius mainly based on the phylogenetic relatedness inferred from the 16S rRNA gene sequence similarities. However, later on, it was reclassified to the current genus, Natronolimnohabitans, based on the results of more advanced phylogenomic analyses. Cells are rod-shaped and nonmotile. Gram-stain-negative, and red-pigmented. Obligate aerobic, and oxidase- and catalase-positive. Extremely halophilic with a growth Na+ range between 2.5 and 4.5M (optimum at 3.5 M). Cells lyse in less than 0.5M NaCl. Obligately alkaliphilic with a growth pH range between 7.5 to 10.0 (optimum at 9.5). Mesophilic or thermotolerant (optimal growth at 45∘C). Chemoorgano-trophic, utilizing mostly organic acids as carbon and energy source. The major polar lipids are diphytanyl (C20:C20) and phytanyl-sesterterpanyl (C20:C25) diether derivatives of phosphatidylglycerol (PG) and phosphatidylglycero-phosphate methyl ester (PGP-Me). The major respiratory quinones are MK-8 and MK-8(H2). Isolates have been obtained from soda lakes. DNA G+C content (mol%): 63.1 (HPLC), 64.3 (genome). Miridiba gravida
Miridiba gravida (Sharp, 1881) Lachnosterna gravida Sharp, 1881: 227 (type loc.: Soerian, Sumatra). Holotrichia moffartsi Brenske, 1900: 148 (type loc.: Sumatra). Holotrichia gravida – Brenske 1894b: 277 (combination). — Dalla Torre 1912: 203 (catalogue). — Frey 1970: 248 (in key). — Itoh 2002: 17, figs 1–12 (redescription). Holotrichia moffartsi – Itoh 2002: 17 (synonym). — Frey 1970: 248 (in key). Miridiba gravida – Coca-Abia 2008: 679, 683 (combination; in key). — Matsumoto 2016: 3, figs 9–11 (type material). Diagnosis See Sharp (1881) and Itoh (2002). Material examined Lectotype of H. moffartsi (here designated) INDONESIA • ♂; “ Sumatra ”; “Lectotype Miridiba moffartsi (Sharp, 1881) CH. Bu Gao det. 2017”; MFNB. Remarks Itoh (2002) redescribed Holotrichia gravida and Coca-Abia (2008) transferred it to Miridiba. In the original description, Sharp (1881) indicated that this species is closely allied to M. leucophthalma. We have not studied type specimens of H. gravida, but, after reviewing the redescription by Itoh (2002), we agree with Sharp (1881) and include this species in morphotype III “ Leucophthalma ”. On the other hand, Brenske (1900) also considered H. moffartsi belonging to Leucophthalma group. The first author of this paper has studied and compared a syntype of H. moffartsi (MFNB) with the genitalia illustrations of M. gravida (Itoh 2002), verifying the synonymy proposed by this author (Itoh 2002). Also, the syntype of H. moffartsi (MFNB) is designated as lectotype herein. Distribution Indonesia (Sumatra). Species included in Morphotype IV “Bidentata” The group is composed of seven species, which are characterized by antenna 10-segmented, pronotal surface densely punctate (distance between punctures equal or smaller than diameter of a puncture), and male and female genitalia as specified above.Published as part of Gao, Chuan-bu & Coca-Abia, María Milagro, 2021, Revision of the genus Miridiba Reitter, 1902 (Coleoptera, Scarabaeidae, Melolonthinae): genital morphotypes and new taxonomic data, pp. 1-94 in European Journal of Taxonomy 749 on pages 54-55, DOI: 10.5852/ejt.2021.749.1355, http://zenodo.org/record/477029
ジェイムズ・ジョイスと日本近代小説(二) : 『ユリシーズ』と『鳴海仙吉』
In this essay I attempt some critical remarks on one short story and two novels by Sei ITOH, who, as I have established in my previous essay, greatly contributed to the introduction of James Joyce to Japanese readers, in comparison with the works of James Joyce. After discussing Sei ITOH\u27s "Seibutsusai" ("The Feast of Living Things") and Joyce\u27s short story "The Sisters" in the first section, and ITOH\u27s Machi to Mura (The Town and Village) and the Circe episode in Ulysses in the second, I proceed to a comparative study of Ulysses and ITOH\u27s Narumi Senkichi, which is often referred to as "Sei ITOH\u27s Ulysses. " My conclusions are as follows: 1. Unlike ITOH\u27s earlier more experimental short stories, "Seibutsusai" is written in a traditional style and has much autobiographical content. While we cannot trace any visible influence of Joyce, it is interesting to compare the story with "The Sisters," because the two stories deal with the similar situation of the death of one close to the narrator. ITOH\u27s story is, in a more naive way, the author\u27s confession of the meanness and ugliness of his own self, whereas "The Sisters" is more elaborately fabricated in order to fix the moment of "epiphany" by means of words. In Joyce\u27s interest in "epiphany," we might be able to detect his attempt to comprehend the universe, or his search for some entity, an attitude which seems to have been left over from the Catholic belief he abandoned. 2. Mura to Machi, which consists of two parts, Yuki no Machi (The Town of Ghosts\u27) and Yuki no Mura (The Village of Ghosts), is a fantasy apparently inspired by the Circe episode in Ulysses. The ghosts of the people whom the narrator previously associated with, and in most cases did some wrong to, in the past, throng round him as he rambles in his native town or village, accusing him of cowardice and unfaithfulness. The fantasy, however, lacks the autonomy of the Circe episode, which is sustained by the whole solid structure of Ulysses; in Mura to Machi the author has constantly to revert to the details of the actual events in order to explain what happens in the fantasy. It is also noteworthy that the idea of Metempsychosis which underlies Ulysses is incorporated into Yuki no Mura, and treated lyrically rather than ironically as in Ulysses. 3. Narumi Senkichi is ITOH\u27s final and most thorough attempt to assimilate Ulysses into his work. Like Ulysses, the novel is composed in various styles with the aim of achieving a symphonic effect. For the hero we have Narumi Senkichi, a critic and professor. The comparison of Narumi Senkichi with Leopold Bloom, of the milieus in which they are placed, and of the way words are used in each novel leads us to reach several conclusions. In the first place, Leopold Bloom, who looks simply sensuous at first glance, reveals a far wider range of spiritual activites than does Narumi Senkichi. All the words the latter utters and all the deed he does are reduced by the author to impulses of the ego which he regards as ugly and mean, whereas in the case of Bloom the seamy, animal side of the hero is always counteracted by his aspiration for some transcendental values. In the second place, to Joyce words had almost a religious function; they were something to grasp, or even create, reality by. To Sei ITOH on the other hand, words were clothes to wrap things with; they were most effective and valuable when used in exact correspondence with things. It thus seems that there is a fairly side gap between James Joyce and Sei ITOH, even though ITOH called Joyce his master all his life
