No full textDissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Centro de Comunicação e Expressão, Programa de Pós-Graduação em Letras/Inglês e Literatura Correspondente, Florianópolis, 2007The aim of the present study is to analyse how issues of Albanian national identity are portrayed in Ismail Kadaré's novel Broken April (Prilli i Thyer), and how such features have been appropriated and translated onto the screen into a Northeastern Brazilian context. I depart from the premise that, even though Brazilian elements are indeed shown in the film, the non existence of the Kanun in Brazil, and the use of narrative techniques different from the ones employed in the novel render the story of the blood feuds in the film more universal than the genuinely Albanian reality depicted in the novel. In sum, the appropriation transcends the Albanian reality into a universal context, showing, at the same time, elements which are typical of the Brazilian culture.O objetivo do presente estudo é analisar como questões sobre a identidade nacional Albanesa são retratadas no romance Abril Despedaçado (Prilli i Thyer), de Ismail Kadaré, e como tais questões foram apropriadas e traduzidas para a tela num contexto Nordestino-Brasileiro. O estudo parte do princípio que, embora elementos tipicamente Brasileiros sejam mostrados no filme, a não existência do Kanun no Brasil, e o uso de técnicas narrativas diferentes das empregadas no romance ajudam a deixar a história das brigas de família no filme com um aspecto mais universal do que a realidade genuinamente Albanesa representada na romance. Em suma, a apropriação transcende a realidade Albanesa para um contexto mais universal, sem deixar de mostrar também elementos típicos da cultura Brasileira

No full textThe breadth of science in various kinds of studies, both those that develop in the Islamic world or those that develop in the western world, gave birth to two different sides of thought, western scholarship with all its achievements in progress which stems from the development of Greek philosophy that leads to modern thinking models. Meanwhile, Islamic scholarship which refers to the holy book of the Qur'an and Hadith leads to the purification of thought. So that from these two scientific sides, there are several scientific principles that are contradictory and even contradictory. So far, Islamic thought is fragmentary and has no connection with contemporary issues. Therefore, efforts are needed to build an integrative-interconnective scientific epistemology. The purpose of this paper is to look at some of the thoughts of Islamization and scientific integration of Ismail Raji Al Faruqi, Syed Muhammad Naquib Al Attas and Amin. This writing method is in the form of a literature review (Library Research). Data analysis was carried out using the technique of deepening Islamic thought from Ismail Raji Al Faruqi, Syed Muhammad Naquib Al Attas and Amin Abdullah. The results of the paper describe that the Islamization and Integration of Science in Islamic Religious Education is Amin Abdullah's scientific spider web model, the integration of western science with the Ismail Raji model and the Islamization of science with the Syed Naquib Al Attas model

No full textFenomena terkait dengan pekembangan ilmu pengetahuan begitu pesat. Ditandai oleh munculnya ilmu-ilmu pengetahuan yang baru. Fenomena ini memunculkan sebuah dampak yang begitu besar bagi umat muslim. Sebab dengan perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan tersebut memicu suatu kebobrokan moral dan etika yang tidak berlandaskan agama Islam. Yang mana Islam telah diakui sebagai agama yang paling benar dan berakhlak. Dengan demikian muncullah sebuah kekritisan dari seorang cendekiawan muslim yang mencetuskan gagasan Islamisasi ilmu pengetahuan. Beliau adalah Ismail Raji Al-Faruqi dan Syed M. Naquib Al-Attas. Keduanya melihat fenomena perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan ini sudah melenceng dari ajaran-ajaran Islam. Sehingga membawa dampak seseorang menjadi sekuler. Berangkat dari sana kedua cendekiawan muslim ini melakukan Islamisasi pengetahuan dengan berbagai cara. Islamisasi ilmu pengetahuan merupakan langkah dalam menciptakan suatu peradaban Islam dalam dunia ilmu pengetahuan. Kedua tokoh besar tersebut menawarkan beberapa opsi dalam melakukan Islamisasi ilmu pengetahuan. Diantara opsi tersebut Syed M.Naquib Al-Attas menawarkan dua opsi dalam melakukan Islamisasi ilmu pengetahuan, yang pertama dengan melakukan pemisahan konsep-konsep kunci yang membentuk kebudayaan dan peradaban Barat. Yang kedua, dengan memasukan konsep kunci Islam ke dalam setiap cabang ilmu pengetahuan masa kini yang relevan. Dalam hal ini Ismail Raji Al-Faruqi juga menawarkan dua Konsep dalam melakukan Islamisasi ilmu pengetahuan. Yakni tauhid, integrasi kebenaran Islam dan ilmu pengetahuan, dan ayatisasi atau pemberian ayat-ayat terhadap ilmu pengetahuan

Estimating Passenger Car Equivalent Factors for Heterogeneous Traffic Using Occupancy-Density Linear Regression Model
No full textA variety of methods have been proposed in the existing literature for the estimation of passenger car equivalent (PCE) factors. These methods are based on the comparison of selected attributes of different vehicles. This research, for the first time, utilizes the basic notion of the linear relationship between road area occupancy and density for the estimation of PCE factors for different vehicle types in heterogeneous traffic. Aerial photographs obtained from an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) were analyzed to estimate the road area occupancy and the number of vehicles classified in seven selected groups. A linear least-squares regression model was developed between road area occupancy and classified vehicle count. The coefficients of the occupancy-density linear regression model were used to estimate PCE and motorcycle equivalent (MCE) factors. The comparison of the estimated set of PCE values with the values reported in the literature shows that PCE factors estimated using the proposed method are reasonable and produce a better occupancy-density relationship than the other studies. In comparison with the existing methods that rely on lane-based measurements, the proposed method is well suited for traffic with weak/no lane discipline, as it considers the entire road width and the dynamics of lateral movement of different types of vehicles. The proposed method does not need extensive traffic data of speeds, headways, flow rates, and so forth, and is applicable on aerial photographs obtained from other sources, such as satellites.Funding
