The study aimed to study the Quran versifying (581 H) through the book of Suhaili “Nateg Alfikr fi Alnahw”. This book denoted to study philology, linguistic secrets and grammatical problems of the Arabic language. The linguistic sections in the book discuses the expressions and the structures and connects them with their meanings leading to cover its all particular indications. Moreover, Suhaili did not leave any section without strengthen it with Quranic applications that clarify the concise meaning of Quran verses. The study used the historical and descriptive methods. Also, it followed the analytical and comparative methods. The study came to the following conclusions: Suhaili quoted a lot from the Quran verses; the verses quotation was dominant in his book. He didn't subject the Quran context to the rules of grammarians; he instead made it the origin. In dealing with the method of Quran, he didn't adopt the doctrine of other grammarians in the exegesis of the Quran context، or judge it exceptional. Also, he discussed the secret in mentioning certain letters in some positions in the Holy Quran and then omitting it. Then he clarified the secrets based on his belief that the Quran text is undisputed. Al-Suhaili explained the ambiguity in selecting some expressional synonyms and neglecting others. He clarified the Quran method in using particular denotations in synonym, a method not seen in any other book except the Holy Quran. Al-Suhaili explained that every structure has its own meaning; he founded the broad bases to study the Quran meanings away from the abstract structural study used by modern methodological studies and other semantics sciences. In addition he compared the text of the Quran with another text to explain the semantic difference between them which is a method followed in many modern and contemporary studies of the Quran. Al Shuaili paid much attention the importance of the semantic development, and he expressed it in the idiom of “origin of words” in languages and semantics study in particular, since meaning precedes words and represents a thorough construction while words or speech is just a surface construction. The study recommends of the necessity of considering the book of Nateg alfikr fi alnahw a source or all the grammatical, syntactic and phonetics levels. That’s because, this book included all the linguistics levels. It also recommends unifying the semantic and syntactic idioms through unified dictionaries that include all what the ancient Arabs said and what is said in the modern curriculum

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    No full text
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
