Variability of Word Choice: Usage Rate of “―NA SUGI” and “―NA SA SUGI”

This research focuses on the variability of word choices in native Japanese. The compound word expressing negative excess, “SUGI,” takes two forms: “―NA SUGI” and “―NA SA SUGI.” This paper examines the usage rate of these phrases by leveraging the minutes of the National Diet of Japan and the prefectural assembly minutes of Tohoku and Kansai regions. Results show that both “―NA SUGI” and “―NA SA SUGI” are used in all contexts. However, there are differences of the usage rates. In the minutes of the National Diet, the number of appearances of “―NA SUGI” is nearly the same as the number of appearances of “―NA SA SUGI.” In contrast, “―NA SUGI” appears more often in the prefectural assembly minutes of Tohoku, while “―NA SA SUGI” appears more in the prefectural assembly minutes of Kansai. Thus, the usage rate of “―NA SUGI” or “―NA SA SUGI” differs regionally.departmental bulletin pape

Genus Mimachrostia Sugi, 1982 Mimachrostia Sugi, 1892, In Inoue et al., Moths of Japan. Vol. 2: 893. Type-species: Mimachrostia fasciata Sugi, 1982. Species of Mimachrostia have several unique external and internal features: the weakly marked reniform stigma; the shape of the 8 th tergite and sternite, the former with a prominent crest; and the easily observable ostium bursae hole on the left side of the abdomen. The genus Mimachrostia was erected for two species, M. fasciata and M. owadai Sugi, 1982, however, the latter belongs to another genus (Fibiger in prep.). The genus was originally placed in the subfamily Ophiderinae (sensu auctorum). The structures of the tergite and sternite of the type species of Mimachrostia are unique; similar shapes have not been found in other groups of Micronoctuidae. On the basis of several synapomorphies in the abdomen and male and female genitalia Mimachrostia is a member of a phylogenetically ancestral subfamily of Micronoctuidae (Fibiger in prep.).Published as part of Fibiger, Michael & Kononenko, Vladimir S., 2008, Revision of the Micronoctuidae species occurring in the Russian Far East and neighbouring countries with description of a new species (Lepidoptera, Noctuoidea), pp. 50-58 in Zootaxa 1890 on page 56, DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.18432

Investigation on Structural Characteristics of Sugi Beam Lumber

    No full text
To utilize effectively Sugi lumber on the conventional post and beam timber structures, this study is planed to clear the structural characteristics (strength and stiffness) of Sugi beam lumber. In this paper, we discuss the strength of Sugi dovetail joints which are evaluated with the method of allowable stress design. And then, based on the experimental results, the mechanical behavior, the carrying capacity and the failure mode of Sugi dovetail joints are investigated
