Supporting Small Medium Enterprises planning through the use of a step-by-step System Dynamics model building process

    No full text
This paper aims to support small medium enterprises (SMEs) in business planning through the use of system dynamics models. In particular, it has been hypothesized that through the use of a step-by-step system dynamics model building process SMEsâ€TM entrepreneurs can better understand the net of cause-and-effect relationships underlying company financial and non-financial results. Such an approach also enables decision makers to improve their understanding about the figures portrayed in a balance sheet. In order to reach such a goal, this study has been carried out through the use of a case-study. The small company investigated is a leather handcraft operating in Indonesia. The paper makes explicit main feedback mechanisms underlying company customer base dynamics adoption process, production and inventory management policies, human resource management practice and machineries production capacity acquisition policy

This research aims to analyze what criteria and subcriteria are important to use in assessing prospective Construction Design Consultant in the procurement process using the ANP method. This research departs from the problem that the Toll Road Planning Division, which is responsible for technical and financial planning for the Trans Sumatra Toll Road project, is not spared from vendor performance problems, where in recent years several Construction Design Consultant have not managed to complete their work with the right quality and time. The results showed that the priority criteria for selecting the best construction design consultant are Quality of Service (23.31%), Relationship with Job Owner (22.36%), Company Certification (20.87%), Quality of Personnel (20.55%), and Company Reputation (12.91%). The subcriteria that has the highest weight is the Personality of personnel (14.90%) and the lowest is the Availability of software (0.75%). The sensitivity analysis of alternative priority weights shows that there is no change in the priority order of alternatives if the subcriteria weights are changed by amounts ranging from -50% to +40%

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Lean operation is the common method to increase operational's efficiency, but it is still rarely implemented for Quality Control Laboratory. This paper used Value Stream Mapping to identify added value and non-added value activities from raw material analysis in Quality Control Laboratory of pharmaceutical industry. Efficiency was measured by reducing the turnaround time for raw material analysis and then converted into labor cost efficiency. Our research renders a decrease of 42.7% in turnaround time for the top 20 raw materials sample that received in 2020. In addition, it reduced the cost of labor by IDR 130,193,977 per year. These results showed us the importance of implementing lean operations in the laboratory to support pharmaceutical industries in producing quality and affordable drug products

Education is one of the most important factors in the development of a country\u27s progress. Currently, apart from economics and health, education is also an investment and achievement on sustainable development. However, until now education in Indonesia is still not evenly distributed in various regions. There are several areas where education is still not feasible of good quality even though the budget allocation in Indonesia are increasing almost every year, no exception in the Province of Papua. The budget allocation for special autonomy funds in Papua Province is fairly large compared to other parts of Indonesia, what the government is trying to do to improve is to distribute the education sector in Papua Province. The purpose of this study is to explore educational disparities between regions in Papua Province and its relation to the increase in the special autonomy funding budget which is estimated from 2012 to 2018. In this study the researcher uses a quantitative methodology by data panel, namely data time series 2010 to 2018. Combining it with cross section data per city/district in Papua Province, the data is used as a reference in calculating educational inequality in Papua Province using the Gini Index Education where the average length of schooling is the reference. Based on the results of the calculation of educational inequality between regions in Papua Province from 2011 to 2018 it is known that the value of the Gini index calculation of education in Papua Province is included in the category of low or evenly distributed education inequality, this is in line with the results seen by using the Lorenz curve which shows the line 33-35from this calculation, it is found that with the increase in the budget for special autonomy funds every year in Papua Province, the inequality of education in Papua is furthermore getting lower or even. Keywords : Education Inequality, Sustainable development, Lorenz curve, Papu

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
