Synodality: An Epiphany of the Spirit
Full text linkThis article discusses the ecclesial phenomenon of synodality. The author focuses on the potential implications of synodality on ecclesiology and the life of the Church. Within ecclesiology, synodality identifies the sphere in which the Holy Spirit truly leads the Church. With regard to ecclesial practice, synodality helps us understand the role that the auxiliary structures of discernment (e.g., synods, councils) play and, consequently, properly shape the awareness of the members of these bodies. Incoherences in the catholic description of the sacrament of matrimony
Full text linkThe article considers the main incoherences, which emerge from the meeting of dogmatic theology (theology of sacraments) and the Canon Law, general and detailed theology of sacraments (with reference to matrimony), and in the very sacramentological systematics of this sacrament. Particular focus is placed on the following problems: the significance of faith for the sacramentality of matrimony, the relation between natural and sacramental matrimony (Code of Canon Law, canon 1055), the relation between celebration of the sacrament and indissolubility of matrimony (the problem of unconsummated marriages), and the minister of the sacrament of matrimony. No full textThe author considers in the paper three animated etudes made by Grzegorz Wacławek in Film School in Łódź. Films entitled Gleam, Scrap and Lost share many common features: creation of the hero’s outer world, extensive use of symbolism and condensation of events centered around one or two heroes. Particularly interesting mean used by Wacławek in endings of the films is the transformation of the presented world that can be named a scale change. Also on this basis director’s animations are metaphorically interpreted, showing their existential meaning, close to the tradition of Polish Animation School

Full text linkThe article points to the problem of the conditioning of the discussion on the Christ’s
knowledge through a theological anthropological pre-assumption of its participants. The
above conditioning concerns mainly the question of the reception of the data deriving
from other non-theological sciences in theological anthropology. The reception of this
data requires a revision of traditional concepts of the connection between the body and
the mind in cognitive processes. Without an adequate explanatory theory it is not possible
to experience God in a way leading to data which can be processed by the human
brain. According to the author it will not be possible to find a satisfactory solution to the
problem of Christ’s knowledge

Stefan Morawski i Grzegorz Sztabiński: kilka uwag na marginesie sztuki neoawangardowej
No full textIn the article, the author attempts to answer the question to what extent Stefan Moraw- ski's and Grzegorz Sztabiński's views on neo-avant-garde art were convergent or identical. The first stage on the way to answering this question is the reconstruction of Grzegorz Sztabiński's standpoint on the crisis of culture and the role of neo-avant-garde art in it. The second stage is the reconstruction of Stefan Morawski's contexts of understanding the art practised by Grzegorz Szta- biński. The third one, which provides a fundamental answer to the question posed in the introduction, is the confrontation of the axiological dimension of neo-avant-garde art with postmodernist art. The author argues for axiological convergence in the decisions of Grzegorz Sztabiński and Stefan Morawski in favour of neo-avant-garde art confronted with postmodernist artW artykule autor podejmuje próbę odpowiedzi na pytanie na ile poglądy na sztukę neoawangardową Stefana Morawskiego i Grzegorza Sztabińskiego były zbieżne lub tożsame. Full text linkNeurosciences and the Question of the Knowledge of Jesus
Rapidly developing neurosciences provide greater and greater insight into human cognitive processes. In this context one may formulate a hypothesis that the current reception of their research findings by theological anthropology can serve as a turning point in the discussion over the question of the human knowledge of Jesus, which is held within dogmatic christology. Classical christology is open to adopt the data from neurosciences, particularly thanks to the conviction, upheld by the Chalcedonian dogma, that the characteristics of natures in Christ do not undergo any changes after the Incarnation. It is especially in the reflection upon the characteristics of human nature that the results of natural sciences should be taken into account as they can indicate some intransgressible limits of human cognitive abilities. One of the results of this reception is a more and more clearly noticeable need for the revision of a common belief in theological anthropology stating that all the “higher” acts of human cognition take place in the soul; thus they have a nonmaterial character. This has, in turn, its key significance for the discussion over the knowledge of Jesus, since the neo-Scholastic theory of human triple knowledge in Christ (the knowledge coming from the beatific vision, the infused knowledge, the acquired knowledge), drawing its inspiration from the hypotheses of St. Thomas Aquinas, was to a great extent based on the assumption that the soul is the center of cognition, which can be gained in a way independent of the body. Given the new perspective of understanding human cognition, open to us by neurosciences, the attempts to sustain this theory may result in material heresy consisting in attributing Christ some characteristics which can by no means be regarded as belonging to human nature (in the pre-Paschal state)
