HOW AN ONLINE COURSE COMPARES
No full textStudent satisfaction with and performance in an on-line agrisales course is compared with that of students enrolled in a simultaneously-taught classroom course. Assessment tools are developed for both sections. Online and classroom students were equally satisfied with the course and the instructor using most measures, but had different motivators for course enrollment. Overall student performance did not differ, but the composition of such was unique for each group. 'I've got those empty diary blues': a wee case study of performance management in a Glasgow office
No full textFriedrich Nietzsche's writings are currently threatened in that he is he treated only as a philosopher or a poet, and his relationship with twentieth century politics and latterly Management theory is largely ignored, excepting of course when he is held to be responsible for the growth in Fascism. In this paper an attempt will be made to show that Nietzsche should not simply be considered as the deracine par excellence with no interest with more general humanitarian concerns. This paper presents a background to Nietzsche and his relationship to Managerialism and then provides a story written in Glaswegian argot of the relationship between a recruit to a Law Enforcement Office in Glasgow, Scotland and his new Manager. An interesting tale about performance management, illustrates how the abuse of power hides personal and organizational dysfunctionality. Another key feature in the twist at the end of the tale is the manifestation of simulacra in performance measures relating to inspection tasks, where we see that 'work not done but recorded' becomes more important, more 'real' than 'work done but not recorded'. This is the excess of history. The story is written in the Glaswegian vernacular partly as homage to the renowned author James Kelman, but more significantly in an attempt take us closer to the lived experience of the actors - as opposed to the more usual sanitised accounts which abound in the management literature. The language is surprisingly 'industrial' in what is regarded as a 'professional' setting

Pauta digital vía Google y su impacto en pequeños negocios. Un cambio de paradigma
No full textEn el contexto digital actual, la pauta en línea es esencial para negocios de todo tipo, pero especialmente desafiante para pequeños emprendedores que, por falta de conocimientos técnicos o recursos económicos, suelen recurrir a plataformas más simples como Instagram, dejando de lado herramientas potentes como Google Ads. Esta falta de dominio y la dificultad para medir el impacto concreto de las campañas en Google generan desmotivación y frenan el aprendizaje e implementación de estrategias más efectivas. Así, se evidencia la necesidad de un enfoque accesible que facilite el uso estratégico de estas herramientas digitales. Esta tesis utiliza una metodología mixta. Por un lado, se aplica un enfoque cuantitativo en un caso práctico en un instituto de clases particulares online, evaluando numéricamente el impacto de la pauta digital en sus ventas. Por otro lado, se complementa con entrevistas a expertos y datos de Google, que evidencian cómo los pequeños negocios enfrentan barreras en la adopción de publicidad en esta plataforma. El estudio es también de tipo descriptivo, ya que enumera estrategias existentes en marketing digital y brinda una guía sobre cómo comenzar a utilizarlas, incluyendo buenas prácticas para optimizar resultados. En el caso práctico, se adopta un enfoque evaluativo al analizar el desempeño de una campaña implementada, y se considera no experimental, ya que no se manipulan variables, sino que se observan y analizan los datos tal como se presentan
