    Student's Understanding of Graph Based on Information-Processing

    This study is a preliminary research on how students understand patterns. Students' understanding of something is a cognitive phenomenon as, according to information processing perspective, an integral part of the stimulus, receiving, encoding, storing and retrieving information. This paper aims to describe the information processing by students when they interpret the graph as a task that was delivered using takjil context. There are 9 seven graders aged 11-12 years in various mathematics ability that three students in each its category high, mid and low. It was found that: (1) The graph given in the task attract students' attention with various reasons. (2) The level of abstraction and processing is in accordance with students' mathematical abilities. (3) The number of words related to the context activated at certain period was determined by reviews of their experiences with similar contexts. (4) Concepts of a new schemes were not solely determined by the students' mathematical abilities. Broadly, this study recommends students to have learning experiences through varying contexts and gain extensive experiences to develop appropriate and useful cognitive schemes for solving problems. How to CiteMampouw, H.     EKSTRAK DAUN KALIANDRA SEBAGAI INHIBITOR ALAMI LAJU KOROSI ST-37

    The utilization of natural resources as a metal inhibitor is widely researched. The extract of Calliandra leaves is one of the natural resources utilized to prevent the corrosion rate. It contains high tannins, which is a natural compound that can be utilized as an inhibitor of the corrosion rate. The research is aimed to find out the efficiency of Calliandra leaves extract as the natural inhibitor for steel ST-37. The experiment method is applied to vary the extract of Calliandra leaves in the corrosive medium. Meanwhile, the extraction of Calliandra leaves uses the maceration method. The extraction of Calliandra leaves with the solvent uses an evaporation process using a rotary vacuum evaporator. The extract used as the inhibitor is determined in 5%, 10%, and 20% of concentrations. The sample test of corrosion used is steel ST-37 with 4 × 4 cm of dimension and 0.2 cm of thickness. The best inhibition efficiency is 99.73% with an inhibition concentration of 20% in HCl. It shows that the extract of Calliandra leaves works well as an inhibitor, and it is efficient to inhibit the corrosion rate

    Ada dua pertanyaan yang akan dijawab dalam penelitian ini, yaitu (1) apa konteks-konteks yang dapat dipergunakan untuk mengenalkan makna dari perkalian dua pecahan dan mencari hasil perkalian dua pecahan, dan (2) bagaimana menggunakan konteks-konteks tersebut untuk membantu siswa mengkonstruksi pemahaman tentang makna dari perkalian dua pecahan dan cara mencari hasil perkalian dua pecahan. Pendekatan pembelajaran yang dipergunakan di dalam merancang proses pembelajaran pecahan adalah pendekatan matematika realistik. Rancangan pembelajaran yang dibuat adalah untuk siswa kelas V SD. Jenis penelitian yang dipergunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian pengembangan (development research). Menurut Gravemeijer dan Cobb (dalam Akker, Gravemeijer, McKeney, dan Nieveen, 2006) ada tiga fase dalam penelitian pengembangan, yaitu (1) persiapan uji coba desain, (2) uji coba desain, dan (3) analisis retrospektif. Dalam makalah ini disajikan bahan belajar untuk siswa untuk siklus kedua yang direvisi dari bahan belajar siswa untuk siklus pertama dari tiga siklus yang direncanakan.     The purpose of this study to create cognitive profiles of elementary school teachers who have been and have not been following the PMRI workshop, before and after they learning about the realistic mathematics education learning resource in understanding about philosophy, principles, and characteristics of realistic mathematics approach. The type of research used in this study is a combination of qualitative research and developmental research. The developmental research is used to construct a realistic mathematics education learning resource. The analysis steps of qualitative data which was built by Miles and Huberman (1994) is used to create cognitive profiles of teachers who become the subject research. The triangulation process of data used in this study is the triangulation of method. The results presented in this paper are the cognitive profile of one subject who is a PGSD student.
