Could the past be just a play? History teaching and "new educational tecnologies"
No full textThe growing addition of information and communication technologies in history teaching is what triggers the reflections in this essay. Used as a reference of analysis the thirty programs by Series Brasil 500 Anos, which is an audio-visual educational device especially designed to celebrate the nation 500th year widely distributed to public schools as part of the Kits Tecnológicos TV Escola. Organizing the dissertation in two large essays, first, used the Series Brasil 500 Anos to talk about wishes of past that mobilizing the configuration of a memory culture in the contemporaneous world. Posteriorly, understating itself as an audio-visual narrative which show curricular contents with allusions to national history considered worth to be taught and learned, discuss some mechanisms of embedding and disembedding of history teaching and curriculum in the contemporaneousness its. In this epistemological approach, the borders of the historiographical field are overflowed and a dialogue is developed with supposed theoretical- ethodologies originated from the different disciplines. Como vetor de análise, utilizo os trinta episódios que compõem a Série Brasil 500 Anos, um artefato educativo audiovisual especialmente produzido para as comemorações do quinto centenário da nação amplamente distribuido para as escolas públicas como parte dos Kits Tecnológicos TV Escola. Estruturando a dissertação em dois grandes ensaios, inicialmente, aproveito-me da Série Brasil 500 Anos para refletir sobre desejos de passado que impelem a configuração de uma cultura de memória no mundo contemporâneo. Posteriormente, entendendo-a como uma narrativa audiovisual que exibe entendimentos curriculares alusivos a histórias nacionais
consideradas dignas serem ensinadas e aprendidas, discuto alguns dos mecanismos de desencaixe e reencaixe do ensino de História, assim como de seu currículo, na contemporaneidade. No full textEllis Island é uma pequena ilha localizada em Manhattan, Nova Iorque, Estados Unidos. Com cerca de 12.000 m2, a Ilha foi artificialmente erguida e conta com um conjunto de edifícios que historicamente abrigaram a antiga Estação de Imigração de Ellis Island. Durante o seu período de operação (1892-1954), estima-se que 20 milhões dos imigrantes que se candidataram a entrar nos EUA foram processados em Ellis Island. Em 1990, o edifício de recepção e hospedagem de imigrantes foi convertido no Museu de Imigração de Ellis Island. Com base nessa historicidade, em abril de 2017, o Departamento de Interior dos Estados Unidos submeteu à UNESCO a Candidatura de Ellis Island como patrimônio mundial por imaginar que o conjunto arquitetônico da Ilha testemunhou um período excepcional da história global, em especial a movimentação de milhões de pessoas que deixaram a Europa para viver na América. No marco do projeto "Pelos bastidores da UNESCO: a construção do consenso em torno de bens considerados patrimônios mundiais (1960-1980)", este artigo propõe socializar os resultados de um estudo de caso a respeito da candidatura de Ellis Island como patrimônio da UNESCO e, substancialmente, algumas análises a respeito dos argumentos apresentados pelo governo dos Estados Unidos para justificar a importância histórica excepcional da Ilha enquanto ícone que espelha o intenso fluxo de migrantes para esse país

Get PDFHow did the notion of new technologies emerge in the interior of OECD? Which approximations did Organisation build between this notion and education? These are the questions that animate this article. The article is organised in three parts. First of all, I present a description of the OECD, highlighting the complex operation of its institutional machinery. After that, based on a dialogue with the pertinent bibliography, I reflect on the mechanisms of influence and regulation undertaken by the Organisation to mediate its member States. Finally, through the interpretation of sources researched in the OECD Library & Archives (Paris), I analyse how the OECD worked to build the notion of new technologies in articulation with its future perspectives about work, employment and international education policies.¿Cómo surgió la noción de nuevas tecnologías en el interior de la OCDE? ¿Cuáles aproximaciones se han construido en la OCDE entre esta noción, la enseñanza y la educación? Esas son las preguntas que impulsan este artículo. El artículo fue organizado en tres apartados. En el primero, presento una caracterización de la OCDE, subrayando el complejo funcionamiento de su maquinaria institucional. A continuación, en base de un diálogo con la bibliografía relevante, presento una reflexión respecto los mecanismos de influencia y regulación movilizados por la Organización al mediar sus Estados miembros. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases.
