Tef Breeding
In summary, whilst the generation of basic scientific information on the genetics, genomics, physiology and other related biosciences is still a fundamental requirement, the overall improvement of tef in Ethiopia requires a concerted and holistic multi-disciplinary approach. This, in turn, calls for enhancement of national, regional and international networking, collaboration and data sharing among research and development, and donor institutions and organizations. Last but not least, in order to see the impact on the genetic progress research on tef, it is imperative to undertake large-scale popularization of the released varieties, where the end-user farmers can see the impact of such improved technologies through demonstrations and scaling up activities involving improved varieties coupled with commensurate management practices
Dramatist Jean Genet
This work is focused mainly on Jean Genet´s dramatic works and their basic principles and characteristic features. In the introductory chapter Markéta Machačíková describes some choices the performers had to make when they decided to rehearse Genet´s one-act play The Maids as their bachelor theatre performance. The second chapter concentrates on Jean Genet´s life that vastly influenced his works and on his permanent endeavour for forming his own image. Genet´s conception of theatre, his dramatic works and his place among other playwrights of the theatre of the absurd are discussed in the third chapter. Based on her work on The Maids as translator and as dramaturgist, the author of this work tries to analyse the play and its possibilities of interpretation in the fourth chapter. The last chapter is dedicated to Genet´s position and to the potentialities of his plays within the contemporary Czech theatre
Genet dynamics and its variation among genets of a clonal plant Convallaria keiskei
In clonal plant populations, a number of genetically identical ramets form a genet. While coexisting ramets potentially perform independently, their behaviours not only depend on ages and sizes but are also constrained by genetic background. In this study, genet dynamics and its variability among neighbouring genets were investigated based on the ramet demography of each genet in Convallaria keiskei. Genet dynamics were first formulated as a matrix model with the two components of clonal growth (clonal reproduction) and survival-transitions between ramet size classes. Then, a statistical estimation of the matrix elements was established using three datasets: aboveground demographic censuses, belowground directional rhizome connections and genetic identification of ramets. Finally, genet growth rates reflecting both the changes of clonal growth and ramet size growth were estimated and compared for fundamental demographic elements among genets. Over three years of aboveground annual censuses of a 28 x 2 m plot, 2021 ramets were identified as belonging to 28 genotypes. Belowground excavation detected 515 clonal fragments. Genet growth rate of three dominant genets varied with medians of 1.13, 1.02 and 1.05; 95% credible intervals of the posterior distributions did not overlap between the genet with the largest median and the others. The variation was caused primarily by differences in clonal growth rather than survival-transitions between size classes. Clonal growth by branching was rarer than at the tips but contributed to the maintenance of the genet. Therefore, both clonal growth frequencies and connecting patterns of ramets caused the variation of genet dynamics and established genets persist for a long time through the positive growth rates, which would contribute to maintain a population. We also conclude that fundamental demographic elements relating to clonal growth traits (the features of individual genets) strongly impact genet dynamics

La première œuvre de Jean Genet
The author compares two versions of the work which Jean Genet himself entitled «Lettre à Ibis», the word «lettre» pointing to the literary genre through which he wished to express his admiration for Michel Vieuchange’s achievement, i.e. his expedition to the ghost city of Smara. For Genet, Vieuchange is an «artist of genius» and entering Smara was for him the ultimate stage of an «idea» reduced to a pure, quintessential state. The quest for expressivity, the syntactic audacity, the fact that «Lettre à Ibis» begins in prose and ends as free verse are elements showing that, like Vieuchange, Genet was aiming at a form of accomplishment, the creation of a work of art.

Fast identification of biological pathways associated with a quantitative trait using group lasso with overlaps.
Where causal SNPs (single nucleotide polymorphisms) tend to accumulate within biological pathways, the incorporation of prior pathways information into a statistical model is expected to increase the power to detect true associations in a genetic association study. Most existing pathways-based methods rely on marginal SNP statistics and do not fully exploit the dependence patterns among SNPs within pathways. We use a sparse regression model, with SNPs grouped into pathways, to identify causal pathways associated with a quantitative trait. Notable features of our "pathways group lasso with adaptive weights" (P-GLAW) algorithm include the incorporation of all pathways in a single regression model, an adaptive pathway weighting procedure that accounts for factors biasing pathway selection, and the use of a bootstrap sampling procedure for the ranking of important pathways. P-GLAW takes account of the presence of overlapping pathways and uses a novel combination of techniques to optimise model estimation, making it fast to run, even on whole genome datasets. In a comparison study with an alternative pathways method based on univariate SNP statistics, our method demonstrates high sensitivity and specificity for the detection of important pathways, showing the greatest relative gains in performance where marginal SNP effect sizes are small
Jean Genet in Front of the Mirror of Identity Destruction
The life and work of French author Jean Genet have always been a quest for the ultimate masterpiece. In this quest, three major figures will guide him: the sculptor Giacometti, the painter Rembrandt and the tightrope walker Abdellah Bentaga. Through the works of these artists, Genet will discover the ultimate identity. What drew him to this discovery and which consequences did it have on the writer? It is this relationship to the Other, analyzed in the four texts that Genet wrote about these artists, that we will explore in this article, particularly through the myth of Narcissus.
