The aim of the thesis is to deepen the theme of Luminescent Solar Concentrators or LSC through their experimental path and with particular attention to the integration of their color in buildings, considered one of their limits of application. The first part of the thesis reiterates how essential it is for the future of the Earth to invest time and money in the search for new sustainable ways of producing energy. The Covid19 pandemic and extreme weather events, which have been manifesting for several years on a planetary level, have shown how much man influences the quality of the environment and have made the concept of sustainability even more concrete. Their functioning is described and the experimentation conducted by some of the main national research groups is reviewed, in order to obtain good energy performance. In addition to low performance, the chromatic characteristic generates skepticism for their application: the transparency of the colored panels conditions the interior lighting of the rooms. The two currents of thought are represented in Italy mainly by two companies: ENI, which focuses on experimenting with colored LSCs, and GlassToPower, developer of colorless LSCs for integration into windows. The thesis continues with the demonstration, through examples and scientific articles, that the color of the panel does not constitute a limit for integration into buildings: it allows not only to characterize the architecture, but also to positively influence the behavior of the 'user. LSCs can therefore be included in the immediate future of construction due to their sustainable characteristics and their color

The work of Rafael Iglesia (1952-2015) has been widely disseminated. However, from the copious critical work devoted to his production, a scarcely explored field is selected here: its creative program. To approach it, we make use of the definition that Paul Valéry made of poetics as action that makes and that is present in the two movements that concur in equal measure in Iglesiaœs works: that of contradiction and error, and that of order and concentration. The purpose of the author is to unveil a poetic construction in Iglesias that, according to hypothesis of the author, is based on unexpected concordance between his trajectories of readings and his unprejudiced and random structural explorations "games with "maderitas" (small pieces of wood)", and it is reaffirmed in the writing of the memories of his works as a moment of reflection ex post. The primary sources were the built works, the published writings, a series of interviews with his collaborators and colleagues, a messy computer file retrieve from his computer and part of his library. Regarding the latter, we have paid special attention to the annotations on the margin and the underlining made by the architect which, as traces of his readings that allow recovering more accurate relations with his writings and projects. "Carlos Solari has developed, through the figure of Rafael Iglesia, a valuable document to the theory of architecture. He relies extensively on stories and the references of the architect relatives, but away from memorialisms and anecdotes. He reviews in detail [Iglesia] most significant works."

Periodic Review Inventory Management with Budget Constraints: Discrete-Event Simulation And Sensitivity Analysis

    No full text
In this study, a periodically reviewed inventory system with an order-up-to-level policy and budget constraints is considered. A discrete-event simulation model is developed to identify the optimal operating conditions, in terms of reorder period (DT) and order up to level (OUTL). Two different scenarios, characterized by different unit costs, are considered. A sensitivity analysis is finally conducted to evaluate the impact of procurement lead time and budget constraints on optimal conditions. A linear correlation between optimal DT and optimal OUTL is found and the equation of the line is derived as a function of the average daily demand and procurement lead time. © ECMS Enrico Vicario, Romeo Bandinelli, Virginia Fani, Michele Mastroianni (Editors) 2023

“Dialogue between Translators and Authors. The Example of Claudio Magris”

    No full text
The paper focuses on the forms of cooperation between authors and their translator(s) in all cases in which the two operate simultaneously. This issue is explored on the example of the Trieste-born author Claudio Magris, who cultivates a very close relationship with most of his translators. Writing and translation have been coexisting in this author throughout his career and have resulted in the heightened sensitivity of Magris the author with regards to translation, as the first part of the analysis shows. The second part describes the dialogue between Magris and the translators of his works, and ends with the more general question of the significance and role of such a form of exchange

Consideraciones sobre la poética de Claudio Rodríguez

The purpose of this paper is to study the poetics of Claudio Rodríguez, delimiting its components and trying to clarify them and to present them as a whole. The author left some pages written on his conception of poetry that encourage reflection and, in some cases, interpretation. So with his conception of poetry as a gift and inebriation, as an alliance and condemnation or celebration (giving title to his collections of poems), or with notions such as «participation», «living contemplation», «living expression » or «personal rhythm» that make up his way of understanding the poetic process.
