Implementation Challenges for Nastaliq Character Recognition
No full textCharacter recognition in cursive scripts or handwritten Latin script has attracted researchers’ attention recently and some research has been done in this area. Optical character recognition is the translation of optically-scanned bitmaps of printed or written text into digitally editable data files. OCRs developed for many world languages are already in use but none exists for Urdu Nastaliq – a calligraphic adaptation of the Arabic script, just as Jawi is for Malay. Urdu Nastaliq has 39 characters against Arabic 28. Each character then has 2-4 different shapes according to its position in the word: initial, medial, final and isolated. In Nastaliq, inter-word and intra-word overlapping makes optical recognition more complex. Character recognition of the Latin script is relatively easier. This paper reports research on Urdu Nastaliq OCR, discusses challenges and suggest a new solution for its implementation

In this research, the authors examine the issue of a pay phone service provider in Malaysia. In 1990, the company launches its product and creates an industry, but by the turn of the century, it has a meager 17 per cent of the market share. The Paper examines the specific issue of how a market pioneer has been eclipsed. It is hypothesized that the main cause of the declining sales is the in appropriate marketing mix strategies. The outbreak of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has posed multiple challenges to healthcare systems. Evidence suggests that mental well-being is badly affected due to compliance with preventative measures in containing the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aims to explore the role of positive mental health (subjective sense of wellbeing) to cope with fears related to COVID-19 and general anxiety disorder in the Pashtun community in Pakistan.
**Methods**
A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 501 respondents from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa participating in an online-based study. We performed correlational analysis, hierarchical linear regression and structural equational modeling (SEM) to analyze the role of mental health in reducing fears and general anxiety disorder.
**Results**
The results of the SEM show that positive mental health has direct effects in reducing the fear related to COVID-19 (β = − 0.244, p 2 = 0.32, p < 0.001) through reducing fear of coronavirus.
**Conclusion**
Based on these findings, there is a need to develop community health policies emphasizing on promotive and preventive mental health strategies for people practicing social/physical distancing

In the article, Saba Mahmood, who recently passed away, deals with a main debate in feminist theory: social agency. Through an analysis of the piety movement in Egypt in the 1990s and precisely of the study of five mosques in El Cairo, the author questions the consideration of social agency as a synonym of resistance to domination relations, which prevents the study of movements as the one she studies.
