Quantitative and qualitative changes in humus at use of waste from the production of alcoholic beverages

    No full text
Modification of the humus content in the soil is the result of two processes with opposite trends: on the one hand occurs mineralization of a fraction of humus in order to ensure soil microorganisms and crops with nitrogen and other necessary elements, on the other occurs humus restoration on account of plant residues that remain in the soil and organic matter added as fertilizer. Chernozems of Moldova lost over 100 years about 25 percent of the accumulated organic matter. The critical level of Moldovan soils humification highlights as a primary problem: the preservation and increase of humus content, especially in soils affected by erosion. Stabilizing and increasing of humus content can be achieved by applying scientifically justified various wastes from the production of alcoholic beverages

Research regarding the use of straw as fertilizer on eroded soils

Straw originating from cereal plants served as object of study. The straw was studied as a fertilizer during a field experience on moderately eroded ordinary chernozem in the Southern region of the Republic of Moldova in order to elaborate some rational processes for its use. The application of straw had a mobilizing impact on the nitrogen and the phosphorus found in the soil. It favoured the provision of the cultivated plants with nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. The apparent density and the coefficient of water use in the soil have been reduced and the plant productivity has increased. The organic matter contained in the straw constitutes 820 kg/t and possesses an energetic potential of 4.4. Gig calories/t. In the Republic of Moldova, the straw is the only re-generable resource which possesses the highest potential to break up, to structure and to increase the soil capacity for water and air. Each ton of straw, applied as fertilizer, favours the completion of humus reserve in the soil by about 150 kg and that of nitrogen by 8 k

Recovery of arable soil fertility through the use of animal manure

In the Republic of Moldova, a country possessing an agrarian oriented economy, multiple social problems can be solved though the protection and amelioration of the soil, which is the main means of agricultural production. The protection of soil fertility is thus a social primordial problem. The quality of soil crust on the majority of agricultural lands is un satisfactory. Erosion affected and humus lacking surfaces continue to extend. Currently, the total surface of soils subjected to erosion processes is of 864,631 ha or 25.5 % out of the total surface of 3,384,626 ha. The recovery of eroded arable soil productivity is possible through the rational use of organic fertilizers on a well - set anti-erosion foundation. The incorporation of manure of different origins into the soil brings about an available energetic contribution: increases the heterogeneity, decreases and uniforms the entropy, influences positively the humus accumulation processes and increases soil quality and fertility, including crop productivity

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Provisional technology of capitalization of liquid wine yeasts as fertilizers for grapevines

The paper describes a provisional technology of capitalization of liquid wine yeasts as fertilizers for grapevines. Every year in the country from 100 wine enterprises are accumulated about 16,000 tons of liquid wine yeasts. They are discharged into the environment (what is prohibited), causing damage to aquatic basins and soil. As a result of the scientific investigations, has been found that liquid wine yeasts must be included in the agricultural circuit by using them as a fertilizers

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
