Il mondo come volontà e documentazione. Definizione, selezione e accesso alle risorse elettroniche remote (RER) or The World as Will and Documentation. Definition, selection and access to remote electronic resources (RER)
What is a document? It is of course a fundamental question - if not even the funding question par excellence - of every possible science of bibliography, documentation, librarianship, information, or however else we choose, or will choose, to call it. And just like for every funding questions, it is not taken for granted that it had been handled and answered in a satisfactory and definitive way at the dawning of the historical evolution of
the respective discipline; in fact, during the last years it has been so much discussed, and it will still be discussed during this meeting.
In this multimedia and hypertext age I would take for definite that a document could be not only necessarily textual or alphanumeric and that both the material supports – be they analogical or digital - that will constitute document’s substratum and the techniques used
to produce, distribute, preserve, organize and use them, will be innumerable and diversified
Alt(r)o gradimento.
An exemplary representative of a generation of young, eclectic intellectuals and artists, active in various areas of the cultural industry, Giacomo (Mino) Guerrini was one of the best preserved secrets ever in the history of Italian cinema. Guerrini was many things: besides being a man of cinema - whose films range from Italian comedy to horror, from spy-story to popular comedy - he was also a painter and artist, journalist and writer, television and radio author. A man of show business and an intellectual capable of moving on many levels and in different areas, without ever bothering to distinguish between high and low culture. The essay focuses in particular on the film tetralogy dedicated to the popular character of Colonel Buttiglione, created by Mario Marenco for the radio program "Alto gradimento": a first, ramshackle example of intermediality to be evaluated, however, with an attention that highlights, along with the many flaws, the elements of interest
Different clinical and radiological features of solitary fibrous tumor of the pleura. Report of two cases
We report two cases of solitary fibrous tumor of the pleura (SFTP). The first appeared in a young, new mother as a large mass in the upper lobe of the left lung that caused compression of lung parenchyma without significant respiratory symptoms but with polyarticular paraneoplastic syndrome; the other was documented by an occasional chest x-ray in a man affected by chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) as a small peripheral mass 4 years before and no longer controlled. Both patients underwent surgical resection with quick and full recovery. SFTP is a benign, slow growing neoplasm that is mostly localized. It appears in adult or elderly patients often with few symptoms. The computed tomography (CT) of the chest with contrast medium is important in order to see the shape of the mass and relationships with adjacent structures but only histology can provide the diagnosis. Surgery is the best treatment
Geometric properties of matrices induced by pattern avoidance
The notion of submatrix avoidance in polyominoes has recently been introduced in [2] with the aim of extending most of the concepts and properties concerning pattern avoiding permutations to the setting of polyominoes. In this paper we use submatrix avoidance to describe families of polyominoes which, in the literature, are usually defined by means of the geometric constraints of convexity, k-convexity, and directedness. To reach this goal, we provide an extension of the notion of pattern in a polyomino, by introducing generalized polyomino patterns. In the second part of the paper, we tackle the same problem in the context of discrete sets, which can be naturally regarded as binary matrices. In this case, we consider two types of geometric constraints: convexity and directedness, and we study how these constraints can be imposed on matrices by using submatrix avoidance
Effervescence description of No-Low alcohol wines at different temperatures and ethanol concentrations through image analysis
The increasing demand for no- or low-alcohol (NoLo) wines in the European beverage market has led to a rise in the availability of sparkling NoLo wines. However, comprehensive evaluations of their foamability and effer- vescence remain limited in the scientific literature. This study aims to provide a detailed assessment of the foamability of sparkling NoLo wines across various levels of dealcoholisation and temperatures. The Mosalux methodology was selected as the standard reference for this analysis. In the study, pure ethanol was incrementally added to a completely dealcoholised white-still wine, raising the
ethanol concentration from 0 % to 12 %; at the same time, different wine temperatures ranging from 4 ◦C to 25 ◦C were tested. Additionally, artificial intelligence (AI) techniques based on image analysis were employed to
assess foam collar persistence, count, and classify visible bubbles. Image acquisition was performed over several minutes to monitor foam behaviour, simulating a typical consumer evaluation continuously. An RGB camera captured images from above the experimental glass. The collected data were compared with the wine’s physical properties, using response surface methodology to
describe the interaction between the liquid and gas phases. The results showed that ethanol reduction promoted the formation of stable and compact foam while reducing the average bubble diameter. The Mosalux data and wine physical properties were correlated with indices derived from the image analysis, which described bubble production potential and foam receding time. Maximum bubble production and bubble detection kinetics were found to be closely related not only to the wine’s viscosity and surface tension but also to the maximum height recorded with the Mosalux device. These findings suggest that alcohol reduction may enhance the overall visual appeal of sparkling NoLo wines while offering potential health benefits to consumers
A Generating Tree for Permutations Avoiding the Pattern 122+3
In this paper we study the family of permutations avoiding the pattern 122+3 (trivially equivalent to those avoiding 1 23 4), which extend the popular 123-avoiding permutations. In particular we provide an algorithmic description of a generating tree for these permutations, that is a way to build every object of a given size n + 1 in a unique way by performing local modifications on an object of size n. Our algorithm leads to a direct bijection between 1 23 4-avoiding permutations and valley-marked Dyck paths. It extends a known bijection between 123-avoiding permutations and Dyck paths, and makes explicit the connection between these objects that was earlier obtained by Callan through a series of non-trivial bijective steps. In particular our construction is simple enough to allow for efficient exhaustive generation

On enumeration sequences generalising Catalan and Baxter numbers
The study carried out along this dissertation fits into the field of enumerative combinatorics.
The structures that have been investigated are families of discrete objects which
display combinatorial properties. They are mainly subfamilies of well-known combinatorial
structures, such as lattice paths, pattern-avoiding permutations, polyominoes (more
specifically, parallelogram polyominoes), or inversion sequences. Furthermore, these combinatorial
families are closely related to two famous number sequences known in the literature
as the Catalan and Baxter numbers.
We start defining and studying the properties of a combinatorial class whose elements
appear as tilings of parallelogram polyominoes, and thus are called slicings of parallelogram
polyominoes. This first combinatorial class results to be enumerated by Baxter numbers,
and shows relations with Catalan and Schroder numbers.
Then, we turn to two families of pattern-avoiding permutations. First, we study the
semi-Baxter permutations, which reveal a natural generalisation of the Baxter numbers.
Next, we deal with the strong-Baxter permutations, which are defined by restricting the
Baxter numbers.
Thereafter, some generalisations of Catalan numbers are presented. A first generalisation
involves families of inversion sequences and lattice paths among the combinatorial
structures enumerated, and is shown to be related to the sequence of Baxter numbers as
well. Meanwhile, the family of fighting fish provide another generalisation of the Catalan
numbers that appears to be independent from the Baxter numbers. These objects generalise
the family of parallelogram polyominoes, and display remarkable probabilistic and
enumerative properties.
In this dissertation we tackle the problem of enumerating these combinatorial classes
and exhibiting their combinatorial properties, resolving some conjectures and open problems.
The methods used are rather diverse: for instance, establishing one-to-one correspondences
with other structures, or combining the use of generating functions and succession
rules. A succession rule is a powerful tool for counting discrete objects, and moreover it
allows to generate them exhaustively. Owing to this remarkable fact succession rules, and
equivalently generating trees, are largely used in our study of combinatorial structures
«Fessi igitur assiduitate studii ... odibili norma».
