Geochemical Composition of K-rich Lavas from the Lena Trough (Arctic Ocean)
Mid-ocean ridge basalts (MORB) from the Arctic Ocean have been significantly less studied than those from other oceans. The Arctic ridges (Gakkel Ridge and Lena Trough) are ultraslow-spreading ridges with low melt productivity and are thus the best locations to investigate mantle heterogeneity. We report the major and trace element and Sr-Nd-Pb-Hf isotope compositions of basalts generated along the Lena Trough and the westernmost part of the Gakkel Ridge in the Arctic Ocean. Basalts from the northern Lena Trough and westernmost Gakkel Ridge (NLT-WGR) have compositions close to normal MORB. The geochemical composition of the NLT-WGR lavas confirms a binary mixing model involving melts from a depleted MORB mantle source and a Spitsbergen amphibole-bearing subcontinental lithospheric mantle (SCLM) source. In contrast, in the central part of the Lena Trough (CLT), the basalts are alkalic with relatively high Mg-number (60-65), high SiO2 (51·0-51·6 wt %), Al2O. 3 (18·1-18·4 wt %), Na2O (4·0-4·2 wt %), K 2O (1·0-1·6 wt %), K2O/TiO2 (0·6-0·9) and (La/Sm)PM (1·4-1·8), and low FeO (6·5-6·8 wt %) contents. These basalts display isotope variations with .87Sr/.86Sr ranging from 0·70361 to 0·70390, .143Nd/144Nd from 0·51283 to 0·51290 (e{open} Nd + 3·7 to +5·2), 176Hf/177Hf from 0·28313 to 0·28322 (e{open}Hf + 11·6 to +14·9) and .206Pb/204Pb from 17·752 to 17·884, .207Pb/204Pb from 15·410 to 15·423 and .208Pb/. 204Pb from 37·544 to 37·670. These isotope compositions clearly distinguish the CLT lavas from those generated along the Gakkel Ridge. For the CLT lavas, involvement of a phlogopite- or amphibole- and (possibly garnet)-bearing SCLM source component is proposed. Owing to SCLM contamination along the entire length of the Lena Trough, we classify the Lena Trough as an ocean-continent transition boundary. Plenoptic imaging from intensity correlations
We demonstrate, theoretically and experimentally, the possibility to perform plenoptic imaging by measuring intensity correlations of light. Unlike standard plenoptic procedures, the technique we propose does not sacrifice spatial resolution to achieve directional resolution. © 2018 The Author(s)
Corporate Governance Rating and Family Firms: The Greek Case
Corporate governance (CG) studies have mostly focused on highly dispersed corporations. However, there is an important need for research exploring the governance structure of family-owned firms. The main characteristics that distinguish the family firm from the other types of corporations are the presence of one or more controlling family and the involvement of the owners in the management. Family firm is the most common form of business in Greece. Hence, the governance structures and the performance of the family firms affect the growth opportunities of the capital market. The aim of the paper is to explore the main aspects of CG of family-owned listed companies in Greece. For this purpose, we apply a specific CG rating methodology, using five core CG criteria to distinguish family from non-family firms: shareholders' rights and obligations; transparency, disclosure of information and auditing; board of directors; CEO and executive management and corporate social responsibility and corporate governance commitment. The overall research objective of the study is to develop a CG rating methodology on the current state of corporate governance in Greece. Each firm is rated among the 120 total number of companies (both family-owned and widely- held). Analysis of Factors Affecting Nursing Services with Inpatient Satisfaction at Harapan / Pematangsiantar Hospital
Improving quality of nursing services became a major issue in health development both in national and global, because of growing demands on health services organization to give satisfaction with nursing services maximally by providing the best service to facilitate the ease of fulfilling the needs and realize the satisfaction. This study was a quantitative research design survey analytic used cross-sectional approach. It was conducted at Harapan Hospital Pematangsiantar. The population were 280 respondents and a sample obtained by 74 respondents. Data analysis of univariate, bivariate using chi - square and multivariate using logistic regression at 95% confidence level (α = .05). The result showed that more respondents who gave a rating of good in the aspect of reliability, followed by the aspect of responsiveness, tangible, assurance, and empathy the influence aspects in this study were reliability (p=.002), assurance (p=.014), tangible (p=.011), empathy (p=.030), responsiveness (p=.024). The most influential aspects of this study was the reliability with Exp(B)/OR=20.667 that aspect of reliability that respondents perceived to have the opportunity 20.667 times to produce patient satisfaction. It is concluded that there was an influence of reliability, assurance, tangible, empathy, responsiveness to patient satisfaction in Harapan Hospital. It is recommended to hospital to further improve the quality of nursing service, to improve the welfare of nurse through provision of appropriate incentives hope the nurse, provide training, and installing CCTV in every room and monitoring of the level of patient satisfaction on a regular basis through a survey so that can improve the quality of hospital services as a whole

ANALYSIS OF MICROWAVE SPECTRUM, INTERNAL ROTATION AND C--HF INTERACTIONS OF THE CHFCHF WEAKLY BOUND COMPLEX
Author Institution: Department of Chemistry, Eastern Illinois University, 600 Lincoln; Ave., Charleston, IL 61920C--HX hydrogen bonds with systematic variation of halogens (X = F, Cl, Br) have been examined using Fourier-Transform Microwave (FTMW) spectroscopy. Rotational constants for trifluoromethane--vinyl fluoride (TFMVF) were consistent with a symmetry structure that exhibited both bifurcated and single C--HF interactions between the TFM and VF. This near prolate asymmetric top exhibited three-fold internal rotation of the CF group causing characteristic doubling in its spectra. Initial assignments were completed using chirped-pulse FTMW spectroscopy with additional measurements made using a resonant-cavity FTMW spectrometer. Rotational constants from ab initio calculations at the MP2/6-311++G(2d,2p) level were in agreement with preliminary experimental values ( MHz, MHz, MHz). XIAM, nderline{\textbf {51a}}, (1996), 923-932.} was used to provide the barrier to internal rotation ( cm) and other spectral information. Spectroscopic parameters for the normal isotopic species as well as preliminary structural results on the C--HF interactions in this complex will be presented
Insulator-to-metal transition at oxide interfaces induced by WO3 overlayers
Interfaces between complex oxides constitute a unique playground for two-dimensional electron systems (2DESs), where superconductivity and magnetism can arise from combinations of bulk insulators. The 2DES at the LaAlO3/SrTiO3interface is one of the most studied in this regard, and its origin is determined by the polar field in LaAlO3as well as by the presence of point defects, like oxygen vacancies and intermixed cations. These defects usually reside in the conduction channel and are responsible for a decrease of the electronic mobility. In this work, we use an amorphous WO3overlayer to obtain a high-mobility 2DES in WO3/LaAlO3/SrTiO3heterostructures. The studied system shows a sharp insulator-to-metal transition as a function of both LaAlO3and WO3layer thickness. Low-temperature magnetotransport reveals a strong magnetoresistance reaching 900% at 10 T and 1.5 K, the presence of multiple conduction channels with carrier mobility up to 80 000 cm2V-1s-1, and quantum oscillations of conductance
Semiometrics: producing a compositional view of influence
High-impact academic papers are not necessarily the most cited. For example, Einstein's 'Special Relativity' paper from 1905 received (and continues to receive) fewer citations from other papers than his 'Brownian Motion" paper of the same year, despite the former radically changing the course of an entire scientific discipline to a much greater extent. Similarly, 'impact' metrics using citation count alone are, it is argued, not adequate for determining the scientific influence of papers, authors or small groups of authors. Although valid, they remain controversial when used to determine influence of larger groups or journals. While the term 'impact' has become closely linked to a journal's citation-based Journal Impact Factor score, this thesis uses the term 'influence' to describe the wider effectiveness of research, combining citation and metadata analysis to allow richer calculations to be performed over large-scale document networks. As a result, more qualitative influence ratings can be determined and a broader outlook on scientific disciplines can be produced. These ratings are best applied using an ontology-based data source, allowing more efficient inference than under a traditional RDBMS system, and allowing easier integration between heterogeneous data sources. These metrics, termed 'Semantic Bibliometrics' or 'Semiometrics', can be applied at a variety of levels of granularity, allowing a compositional framework for impact and influence analysis. This thesis describes the process of data preparation, systems architecture, metric value and data integration for such a system, introducing novel approaches at all four stages, thereby creating a working semiometrics system for determining influence at different semantic levels of granularity
Code choice and code-switching in Swiss-German internet relay chat rooms
In the German-speaking regions of Switzerland, dialect is spoken by all social groups in most communicative situations, Standard German being used only when prescribed. Swiss dialects rarely appeared in written form before the 1980s, apart from the genre of dialect literature. Due to the growing acceptance of informal writing styles in many European languages, dialect is increasingly employed for written personal communication, in particular in computer-mediated communication (CMC). In Swiss Internet Relay Chat (IRC) rooms, varieties of German are used side by side as all chatters have a command of both standard and dialectal varieties. Depending on the channel, the proportion of dialectal contributions can be as high as 90 percent. The choice of a particular variety depends on both individual preference and on the predominant variety used within a specific thread. In this paper I take a quantitative approach to language variation in IRC and demonstrate how such an approach can help embed qualitative research on code-switching in CMC
Canadians' travel knowledge acquisition during the pandemic: A cognitive mediation model approach
This study aimed to improve Canada's preparedness to rejuvenate the economy in public health crises by understanding how potential tourists acquire knowledge using the cognitive mediation model. We examined the effect of media motivations (i.e., surveillance gratification and anticipated interaction) in predicting two types of subjective knowledge (i.e., pandemic knowledge and travel health knowledge) through the mediation of media attention and elaboration. The study results supported all hypotheses except for the relationships between surveillance gratification and media attention, and media attention and travel health knowledge.
