Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Full text link“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Full text linkWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. No full textTrabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Graduação)Resumo: Essa pesquisa é um estudo que procurou se investigar de que maneira seria possível realizar sobreposições de elementos musicais, tais como: acordes, arpejos e escalas pentatônicas, com o objetivo de alcançar de uma forma dinâmica as notas da estrutura superior das escalas correspondentes de acordes para a prática da improvisação idiomática. Para identificarmos as possibilidades de arpejos e escalas para as sobreposições, a pesquisa foi realizada começando com algumas ideias que eu já apliquei em minhas improvisações desse recurso, e posteriormente, uma pesquisa bibliográfica que abordam esse tema para explorar esse recurso. Em seguida foi realizada uma série de experimentações na guitarra/violão no próprio processo de criação e improvisações, com o auxílio de backing tracks disponíveis no site youtube, visando categorizar e sistematizar o processo para fins didáticos. A tomada de decisões baseou-se em reflexões do processo criativo a partir da escuta e do resultado das práticas no próprio instrumento rumo às sonoridades mais incomuns para o campo diatônico maior, somados as experiências que aprendi durante as minhas vivencias musicais
Socioconstrutivismo:: críticas e respostas
Full text linkthis paper introduces and discusses four objections that have been adressed to social constructivism as an approach with regard to science: i) its theoretical impossibility; ii) its theoretical implausibility; iii) its irrelevance; iv) its undesirability. This paper advocates the unsuitability of the four objections, suggests the importance of social constructivism, but argues for that this position is neither the only nor the best one for our understanding of science, but just one of many philosophical contributions to this understanding.O artigo apresenta e discute quatro objeções que têm sido direcionadas ao socioconstrutivismo, enquanto concepção de ciência: i) sua impossibilidade teórica; ii) sua implausibilidade teórica; iii) sua irrelevância; iv) sua indesejabilidade. O artigo sustenta a inadequação das quatro objeções, sugere a importância do socioconstrutivismo, mas defende que essa posição não é nem a única nem a melhor, para nossa compreensão da ciência, porém, apenas mais uma, dentre tantas contribuições filosóficas para essa compreensão

Full text link O diálogo que apresentamos no Simpósio Temático 10: Questões Africanas, Afro Latino Americanas e os Desafios Contemporâneos, no II Congresso Internacional da Faculdades EST, em São Leopoldo (RS), no dia 09 de setembro foi um momento especial de compartilhar nossas reflexões e dialogar com pesquisadoras e pesquisadores sobre um tema de uma grandeza significativa para toda a comunidade afro americana. Nossa tarefa foi apresentar um inventário da história do pensamento afro americano a partir das contribuições oriundas dos movimentos negros que surgem nos anos 70, 80 e 90 do século XX. A reflexão teológica afro americana terá nestes momentos de encontros, estudos e reflexões uma base de dados e elementos significativos para fundamentar a produção teológica e dar seguimento para uma reflexão capaz de sinalizar novos cenários aos primeiros anos do século XXI. The dialogue presented in the Thematic Symposium 10: African Issues, African Latin American and Contemporary Challenges, at the Second International Congress of EST Colleges in São Leopoldo (RS) on September 9th was a special moment to share our reflections and to dialogue to researchers on a topic of a significant magnitude for all the african american community. Our task was to present an inventory about the history of African American thought from contributions originating of black movements that arise in the 70s, 80s and 90s of the twentieth century. The african American theological reflection will these times of meetings , studies and research a database and significant elements to support the theological production and follow up to a reflection capable of signaling new scenarios to the first years of the twenty-first century in these meetings
