In the present study we evaluated the anti-biofilm and anti-quorum sensing activity against 8 clinical isolates and 3 reference strains, using 15 alkylglycerols obtained by chemical synthesis, they are analogous to those present in nature. In the first step, we evaluated the growth inhibitory activity of each alkylglycerol in order to quantify the anti-biofilm activity using 50%, 25% and 12.5% of the MIC concentration through broth microdilution. Using the modified Stepanovic protocol, we obtained biolfilm inhibitions of up 83.9%, which varied according to the alkylglycerol concentration and bacterial genus. The production of violacein of Chromobacterium violaceum ATCC 12472 was used for demonstrating the anti-quourum sensing activity by mean of diffusion on agar and broth microdilution techniques, depending on concentration and technique used; some alkylglycerols led to a lower production of violacein from C. violaceum ATCC 12472.
According to these results, alkylglycerols showed different effects depending on their concentration, the microorganism used and the number of chain carbon atoms
Development of a continuous culture tool for the generation of mutants induced by exposure to antibacterial agents
Tazobactam).A continuous culture operated at 50% of the specific growth rate (= 0,2587 h
-1
for E. coli;
= 0,2695 h
-1
for S. aureus) was established. Once growth had stabilized,
Piperacillin/Tazobactam was added to a concentration equivalent to 50% of the MIC until
growth stability is reached. Piperacillin/Tazobactam concentration was then increased to
75% of the MIC until stable and finally increased to 1MIC. With the proposed tool, the
generation of mutant microorganisms resistant to Piperacillin/Tazobactam (32 times more
resistant to both E. coli and S. aureus) was achieved, with continuous culture in operation
for approximately 55 hours, of which more or less 40 hours corresponded to antibiotic
exposure, which is a relatively short time and requires a low expenditure of material
(culture broth spent per hour) with a high production of biomass (Piperacillin/Tazobactam
resistant microorganisms).MaestríaMagíster en Ciencias - FarmacologíaFarmacologí
Contemporary theory of metaphor: an analysis of lakoffian echoes in Brazil
An Approach to Enable Human–3D Object Interaction Through Voice Commands in an Immersive Virtual Environment
Nowadays, the Metaverse is facing many challenges. In this context, Virtual Reality (VR) applications allowing voice-based human–3D object interactions are limited due to the current hardware/software limitations. In fact, adopting Automated Speech Recognition (ASR) systems to interact with 3D objects in VR applications through users’ voice commands presents significant challenges due to the hardware and software limitations of headset devices. This paper aims to bridge this gap by proposing a methodology to address these issues. In particular, starting from a Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficient (MFCC) extraction algorithm able to capture the unique characteristics of the user’s voice, we pass it as input to a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) model. After that, in order to integrate the CNN model with a VR application running on a standalone headset, such as Oculus Quest, we converted it into an Open Neural Network Exchange (ONNX) format, i.e., a Machine Learning (ML) interoperability open standard format. The proposed system demonstrates good performance and represents a foundation for the development of user-centric, effective computing systems, enhancing accessibility to VR environments through voice-based commands. Experiments demonstrate that a native CNN model developed through TensorFlow presents comparable performances with respect to the corresponding CNN model converted into the ONNX format, paving the way towards the development of VR applications running in headsets controlled through the user’s voice
Faced with the general objective established in the present work, it can be considered that the testimony before notary, as advance evidence, can not be applied, in the understanding that in seeking the truth of the facts and the factual impossibility that a judge can practice it , it is not plausible that it could be practiced, since this would imply crossing the borders of the notarial function and invading, as a consequence, the jurisdictional orbit. Although the scenario put by the State Council was in another context, the study fails to firmly contemplate the applicability before notaries, since they would not have the legal powers and technical conditions to attest to what is said in the testimony so that, later, it is the judge who, under his jurisdictional function, determines if it is simply an indication, a summary test or full proof. Now, the anticipated testimonial evidence for judicial purposes also allows us to understand that there are criteria, rules and principles that must be kept as an integral part of the right to due process. In this sense, it is concluded that the testimony as a means of proof, must comply with all the legal and jurisprudential criteria analyzed in this work, among which it is identified that they must be carried out under the seriousness of an oath; that the application of the principles of immediacy, concentration and contradiction be guaranteed; that if the testimony is not ratified in the courtroom during the process, it is understood only as summary evidence or as evidence; that the witness must necessarily be a third party alien to the process, that is, that it does not represent interests for the parties and can be crossed out; that in the testimony the circumstance of time, manner and place of the events subject to further demand or denunciation must be clearly stated; and that can be practiced in those cases in which people are seriously ill. Finally, it can be concluded that the anticipated testimonial evidence for judicial purposes is a constitutional right that the parties have, but that it must be contemplated under specific premises and events that, exceptionally (as proposed in the previous section), should be contemplate for its application before notaries, always under constitutional and legal criteria that favor due process within the framework of administrative law
This dissertation is an ethnography on the political experiences among students of the University of San Carlos de Guatemala. In her holidays, strikes, walks, elective procedures and other events where students vying for power within the university and beyond are addressed as critical events that dramatically express the main elements that form their "world politics" and at the same time, contribute in shaping college students sancarlistas as political subjects. The view from where they are analyzed the experiences focuses the notion of social drama, as developed by the anthropologist Victor Turner. The work aims on the one hand, contribute to a deeper understanding of political activity from university student as the subjects themselves understand and experience their social world, the meanings attributed to it and the ways they interact in it, while, furthermore, analytical arouse interest on these subjects that have historically been identified as key actors in the political life of Guatemala
