IMPACT OF CURRENCY RE-DESIGN ON NIGERIA ECONOMY 2022-2023
Abstract: The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) announced the redesign of Nigeria currency in 2022, and the policy was implemented in February, 2023, with the objectives of improving the security features of the currency in order to reduce the rate of currency forgery, reduce the total amount of money in circulation to reduce inflation, increase the percentage of money availability in bank volts in order to increase the rate of financial inclusion. This policy has brought about hardship on Nigerians by forcing Nigerians into cashless phase economy by creating artificial cash scarcity. This paper seeks to review the impact of currency redesign on Nigeria Economy. Some factors contributed to the failure of the policy which are, politics, demographic and socio-ecological changes, banking superstructure and modernity, and the wages of illiteracy and poverty and the widening income divide. In conclusion, the paper provides possible solutions and recommendations that can guide monetary policy makers in making informed decisions on currency redesign in Nigeria.

Finnish medical devices market in Nigeria
This thesis is regarded to Global Service Finland Limited who has decided to enter Nigeria medical devices market by using its consulting services and business connections across the continent to help Finnish Health-Tech companies.
The main purpose of the thesis research is to find out the possibility of exporting Finish medical devices to the Nigeria market and to develop entry plan strategy for the case company in exporting medical devices to the targeted country.
In other to explain the health market in Nigeria, PESTEL analysis was applied to describe the business environment. However qualitative research method was applied to carry out the objectives of the thesis. The author conducted interview by sharing out questionnaire to the sole proprietors (owner) of the hospitals and diagnosing centers who are the major users of the medical devices.
At the end of the research, the author is able to make a recommendation to the case company about the suitable entry mode to adopt
Antimicrobial susceptibility profiles of bacteria commonly isolated from farmed salmonids in Atlantic Canada (2000–2021)
Bacterial infection and antimicrobial resistance are important constraints in the production and sustainability of farmed salmonids. This retrospective study aimed to describe the frequency of bacterial isolates and antimicrobial resistance profiles in salmonid aquaculture in Atlantic Canada. Bacterial isolates and antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) results assessed by disk diffusion testing were summarized for 18,776 Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) and rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) samples from 2291 unique cases submitted to the Atlantic Veterinary College, Aquatic Diagnostic Services Bacteriology Laboratory from 2000 to 2021. Kidney was the most commonly submitted tissue (60.29%, n = 11,320), and these specimens were mostly submitted as swabs (63.68%, n = 11,957). The most prevalent pathogens detected in these cases were Yersinia ruckeri type 1 (5.54%, n = 127), Renibacterium salmoninarum (2.10%, n = 48), Aeromonas salmonicida (atypical) (1.66%, n = 38), and Pseudomonas fluorescens (1.22%, n = 28). Most bacterial isolates tested (n = 918) showed resistance to florfenicol, oxytetracycline, ormetoprim-sulfadimethoxine, and trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole, but not to enrofloxacin. This report provides baseline data for antimicrobial surveillance programs that investigate emerging antimicrobial resistance trends in salmonid aquaculture in Atlantic Canada
Impact of illustrated educational booklets in adherence with preoperative instruction for patient undergoing elective cesarean delivery
Abstract
Purpose of Project: Poor adherence to preoperative instructions has been associated with surgical complications, cancellations, delays, and increased lengths of stay. A contributing factor to poor adherence is difficulty understanding preoperative instructions. The aim of this quality improvement project was to address gaps in health literacy for patients undergoing elective cesarean delivery at a major academic medical center.
Methodology: An illustrated patient education booklet (PEB) was developed for preoperative teaching and distribution to patients undergoing elective cesarean section. A retrospective chart review was done to assess adherence to preoperative instruction elements including use of preoperative special antibacterial wipes, drinking only clear liquids up to 2 hours before induction of anesthesia, and consumption of a calorie-rich pre-surgery drink.
Results: A total of 62 charts met the documentation criteria, 36 in the pre-implementation phase, and 26 in the post-implementation phase. There was a 23% increase in the use of preoperative disinfecting wipes. Adherence to consumption of clear liquids up to 2 hours before surgery increased by 61%, consumption of a calorie rich pre-surgery shake increased by 20%. An adherence score was created for each patient based on these elements. Preoperative adherence rates before the illustrated PEB were (M=61, SD=31.15) versus (M=84, SD=15.58) in the post-implementation phase. A t-test revealed no statistical differences (t (60) =1.48, p=0.088).
Implications for Practice: Although not statistically significant, use of an illustrated PEB did show a trend in improving adherence to some of the preoperative instruction categories. This project has the potential to bridge the gap in healthcare literacy and increase the understanding of preoperative instructions. Additional investigation is warranted.

ORAL NARRATIVE TECHNIQUES IN LES SOLEILS DES INDEPENDENCES AND ALLAH H’EST PAS OBLIGE
The study of oral narrative techniques is a stylistic exercise; a study of style. The usage of some narrative techniques whether oral or literary by an author in preference to other ones, is a stylistic choice. Each writer chooses devices from a set of alternatives. Style is according to Marouzeau (1963:9-10).” The attitude the writer adopts vis-à-vis the material that language supplies to him.... a preference given to this or that expression.

Calling the judiciary to account for the past : transitional justice and judicial accountability in Nigeria
Institutional and individual accountability is an important feature of societies in transition from conflict or authoritarian rule. The imperative of accountability has both normative and transformational underpinnings in the context of restoration of the rule of law and democracy. This article argues a case for extending the purview of truth-telling processes to the judiciary in postauthoritarian contexts. The driving force behind the inquiry is the proposition that the judiciary as the third arm of government at all times participates in governance. To contextualize the argument, I focus on judicial governance and accountability within the paradigm of Nigeria’s transition to democracy after decades of authoritarian military rule
Node: A Real Time Smartphone Big Data Application for Health Care Epidemiology
In this thesis the author outlines the development of a smartphone application
from design to deployment in order to facilitate a more comprehensive and real time
understanding of the spread of a disease in a population. Particular to this study
an application was developed which does not rely on users using a specific hardware
model of Android headset, but rather is only restricted to software (Jelly Bean or
higher). This presents a novel step forward over previous research done, which is
classically limited to a few smartphone users or key chained devices.
Furthermore, this thesis demonstrates the coupling of three vectors of data, in
this case survey, location specific and documented health cases. These three vectors
are then combined into one health profile referred to as the Node Network, which
presents a user's "health status" as a combination of these traits and includes active
risk analysis based on their projected path and movements throughout the day. By
analyzing a user's accelerometer data this study additionally allows for a medical
practitioner, policy maker, or academician to study and correlate a user's behavior
to their health state. Additional details provided via GPS location such as where a
user eats, the type of food a user is eating, etc. which have never been studied in
previous studies, are presented in this study. The successful coupling of these vectors
allows for an unprecedented insight into civilian lifestyles which has huge impacts
for health care providers and government officials in both developing and developed
countries. It is the intention of the author that this study serve as the beginning of
the development of a health forecasting system, which will allow interested parties to
forecast and predict and prevent biological attacks, epidemic outbreaks, and result in
better health policy initiatives specific society
