Musical instruments have undergone numerous changes and adaptations throughout history with the aim of achieving optimal form and functionality. The tambura has followed a similar developmental path, evolving through four tuning systems, with its modern form preserved in the latest four-string A-E system. Although the tambura has found its place in the world of classical music over time, a significant challenge remains the lack of original literature dedicated to the intepretative and technical development od musicians. In order for compositions to embody musical complexity, which is a combination of interpretation and virtuosity, it is important that they are created by an author with a deep understanding of the instrument. To achieve a level of virtuosity, a musician must first develop certain technical skills. Technical exercises are designed to develop the mechanical aspects of playing, whereas etudes integrate technical development with interpretative skills. The aim of this work is to provide practical guidelines and exercises that will assist performers in developing their technical abilities

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis

Amateur tamburitza ensembles are a common choice for those interested in preserving the tradition of our region and developing the tamburitza as an instrument. As with any other musical ensemble, it is crucial that the ensemble leaders possess a wide range of competencies necessary for successful work and student development. When it comes to amateur tamburitza ensembles, it is important that the leader successfully organizes the work of their ensemble, which involves fulfilling a variety of tasks and goals. Leading an amateur tamburitza ensemble requires a combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities that help a good leader teach students primarily how to play the tamburitza, read music, and nurture cultural heritage, while also fostering good interpersonal relationships, confidence, motivation, and the importance of preserving cultural identity in the students

Traditional music is an integral part of every nation and describes various life, cultural values that have been passed down through generations through various forms of song, dance and musical instruments. From the very beginning, traditional music develops the musical abilities of individuals and groups on a daily basis, presenting the culture, heritage and customs of a nation. In this paper, the representation of Croatian traditional music according to the current Curriculum for primary school (2006) was studied. The paper discusses the very definition of traditional, folk music and its main characteristic region, each of which brings some new curiosities and each is special in its own way. With this paper we want to raise awareness of the importance of traditional music and the role of teachers to encourage the idea of using traditional music for the purpose of intercultural competencies and to create their own curriculum in the context of traditional music culture

Teacher Competencies for Implementing Individual Music Education

This work shows what competencies are, their divison and basic features. According to one of its divisions, competencies are generally devided into generic or universal and area-specific or professional. The middle part of this work is devoted to pedagogical competencies in the implementation of individual music lessons, as well as their importance and characteristics. For teacher's successful work, pedagogical competence is required in the following fields: the field of teaching curriculum construction methodology, the field of organization and managment of the educational process, the field of shaping the classroom atmosphere, the field of determining student achievements in school, and the field of building a model of educational partnership with parents. Additionally, the work also deals with social forms of teaching, with an emphasis on individual teaching of an instrument. On the example of the plan and program of teaching an instrument, specifically tambura, which is carried out individually during six years of elementary music school, the emphasis is placed on the importance of pedagogical competencies that every teacher who conducts lessons like these should have (in this case individual music teaching of an instrument

This master's thesis explores the creative process of collaboration between a tamburitza ensemble and classical music through the interpretation of Edvard Grieg's "Peer Gynt Suite No. 1". The suite, originally composed as an accompaniment to Henrik Ibsen's drama "Peer Gynt", represents a masterpiece of Romantic music from the 19th century, comprising four characteristic musical movements that convey diverse emotions and atmospheres. The study focuses on the interpretation of "Peer Gynt Suite No. 1" and the collaboration with the tamburitza ensemble, while also discussing the biography of Edvard Grieg and Ibsen's drama "Peer Gynt". Through the analysis of musical elements, technical challenges, and interpretive approaches, we explore how the tamburitza ensemble can reinterpret and enrich Grieg's work while respecting the authenticity of the original compositional concept. By concentrating on the specifics of interpretation with the tamburitza ensemble, the study provides insights into the possibilities and challenges of collaboration between traditional musical forms and classical repertoire
