No full textIn all the plays of Hanoch Levin, the names the author gives his characters combine a meaning, which may be hidden or obvious, with a particularly wrought form. They immediately set the tone of what is to follow and are at once a real challenge to the translator and a tool of primary importance for all those seeking to make these texts their own. Solutions are found on a case-by-case basis and I have sought to shed light on this aspect of my theatrical work through a series of concrete examples.Dans toutes les pièces de Hanokh Levin, les noms dont l’auteur affuble ses personnages combinent un sens – évident ou caché – et une forme particulièrement travaillée. Para tal, serão consideradas a oscilação entre o sentimental e o humor e a fronteira sutil que os separa ao longo do romance, a ironia, a paródia, bem como as estratégias adotadas na tradução proposta e em outras já publicadas no Brasil This study will look at the translation of Laurence Sterne's A Sentimental Journey and examine certain translational issues arising from the narrative. These include the oscillation between sentimental and humorous elements and the fine line that separates them throughout the novel, use of irony, parody, and also translational strategies adopted by the author, and by others in previous translations of the work in Brazil

No full textInternational audienceLaurence Sendrowicz est incontournable lorsqu'il s'agit de parler de traduction (de pièces de théâtre notamment) de l'hébreu vers le français. Née à Paris, L. Sendrowicz quitte la France après son baccalauréat pour s'installer en Israël, où elle reste 13 ans. C'est là qu'elle fait ses armes de comédienne et se met rapidement à écrire pour le théâtre. Une fois de retour en France, elle devient traductrice à la fois de théâtre et de littérature hébraïque contemporaine, tout en poursuivant parallèlement son travail d'écriture dramatique. Elle a traduit entre autres Batya Gour, Yoram Kaniuk, Shifra Zorn, Zeruya Shalev et surtout Hanokh Levin (1943-1999), le plus célèbre dramaturge israélien moderne, qu'elle a largement contribué à faire connaître et à diffuser dans les pays francophones depuis les années 1990 par la qualité de ses traductions, publiées aux éditions THÉÂTRALES (Maison Antoine Vitez). En 2012, à l'occasion de la publication de 1948 de Yoram Kaniuk, elle reçoit le Grand Prix de traduction de la Société des gens de lettres, distinction qui vient couronner l'ensemble de sa carrière de traductrice
