Programa de Pós-Graduação em Antropologia Social.Este é um estudo sobre os discursos contemporâneos a respeito de João Maria em Santa Catarina, sul do Brasil. Partindo da noção de discurso como ação humana significativa (Ricoeur), afirmo que os discursos a respeito de João Maria são construídos pelos joaninos a partir de sua cultura histórica (formada por valores, símbolos, imagens, personagens, eventos contextuais e um catolicismo difuso), possuem temporalidade, expressam algo e são disponibilizados para outras leituras e interpretações. É o próprio discurso dos joaninos que serve como mecanismo de legitimação de João Maria, dos discursos atribuídos a ele, dos próprios discursantes (joaninos) e de sua cultura histórica. João Maria é visto, neste trabalho, como evento fundante, em torno do qual gravitam muitos sentidos, e como entidade multivalente, identificado como Deus, Jesus Cristo, Profeta, Santo ou símbolo da luta pela terra. Legitimados, os discursos a respeito de João Maria apresentam-se como adequados na interpretação do mundo dos joaninos, no controle da indeterminação do mundo, para anunciar e acabar com o mal, reagir contra aquilo que não está de acordo com sua cultura, estimular a luta política ou anunciar o mundo desejado

A partir desses questionamentos surgiu esta pesquisa que para obter respostas a essas perguntas fez antes uma leitura do trajeto trilhado pelas conquistas femininas no século XX, principalmente dentro da academia, até esse momento atual, ressaltando, entre outros aspectos, a necessidade da junção de gênero a discussões sobre raça, classe . Pesquisa cuja maior proposta é identificar a representação de gênero e raça nas obras Úrsula e do conto #A escrava# (2004), de Maria Firmina dos Reis (século XIX)); Quarto de despejo: memórias de uma favelada (1960), de Carolina Maria de Jesus; Ponciá Vicêncio (2003) e Becos da memória (2006), de Conceiçao Evaristo; e As mulheres de Tijucopapo (1982), O lago encantado de Grongonzo (1992) e Obsceno Abandono: amor e perda (2002), de Marilene Felinto. Busco com isso uma melhor compreensão da condição social e literária da mulher negra na sociedade brasileira do século XIX até o XXI. Além do objetivo maior desta pesquisa, ela também tem o intuito de refletir sobre a condição social e literária da mulher negra na literatura e sociedade, a partir da presença das mesmas como sujeito e objeto de suas escrituras.Who, where and how is the Black woman in Brazilian literature and society? This search arose from such questions. To answer them, I have completed a comprehensive study of women's achievements in the twentieth century, particularly in academia, through which I have noted, among other things, the need for gender to join discussions on race, class, and/or ethnicity. The main purpose of this work is to identify the representation of gender and race in the books Úrsula and of shortstory "A escrava" (2004), by Maria Firmina dos Reis (nineteenth century); Quarto de despejo: mémorias de uma favelada (1960), by Carolina Maria de Jesus; Ponciá Vicêncio (2003) and Becos da memória (2006), by Conceição Evaristo; and As mulheres de Tijucopapo (1982), O lago encantado de Grongonzo (1992) and Obsceno abandono: amor e perda (2002), by Marilene Felinto. Search for a better understanding of the social and literary condition of the Black woman in Brazilian society in the nineteenth through the twenty-first centuries. And also to reflect on the condition of Black women in literature and society, studying their presence as subjects and objects of their writing

Variations on the Author
No full text“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
