    The current scenario of open access journal initiatives in India

    Purpose: The overall aim of the research was to gather the data related to open access journal initiatives in India with respect to its type, funding agency/host organisation, full text availability, article charges etc. Methodology: Various sources of information were consulted such as literature, search engines, directories etc. Finidings: Results shows that all 178 open access journals were peer reviewed, indexed and abstracted in various indexing and abstracting services, listed with DOAR and O-Jgate. Limitations: Open access journals which were available on Internet were included but not those which were available on Intranet. Originality: In the earlier literature it was mentioned only about 100 to 110 open access journals as well as nothing was mentioned about author paid journals. But the present study discovered existence of 178 open access journals with 3 author paid journal

Shell surface smooth, glossy, with very fine growth lines or rarely with radial grooves. Whorls 6–8, increasing regularly, flat to slightly convex. Last whorl well-rounded to slightly shouldered. Aperture crescentic with simple lip. Animal with right and left mantle-lobes, flaps, blackish or grayish (rarely with bright colour). Genitalia with long penial appendage; penial retractor muscle large and attached to head of penial appendage. Spermatophore long with no spine on tail filament.     Explosive synchronization in interlayer phase-shifted Kuramoto oscillators on multiplex networks

    © 2021 Author(s).Different methods have been proposed in the past few years to incite explosive synchronization (ES) in Kuramoto phase oscillators. In this work, we show that the introduction of a phase shift α in interlayer coupling terms of a two-layer multiplex network of Kuramoto oscillators can also instigate ES in the layers. As α → π / 2, ES emerges along with hysteresis. The width of hysteresis depends on the phase shift α, interlayer coupling strength, and natural frequency mismatch between mirror nodes. A mean-field analysis is performed to justify the numerical results. Similar to earlier works, the suppression of synchronization is accountable for the occurrence of ES. The robustness of ES against changes in network topology and natural frequency distribution is tested. Finally, taking a suggestion from the synchronized state of the multiplex networks, we extend the results to classical single networks where some specific links are assigned phase-shifted interactions.11Nsciescopu

    Sosiaalisen median strategia PK-yritykselle : Case: Jooga Galleria

    Opinnäytteen aiheena on sosiaalisen median strategia. Työssä tarkastellaan sosiaalisen median kanavista Facebookia ja Instagramia. Sosiaalisen median strategia luodaan kouvolalaiselle PK-yritykselle Jooga Gallerialle. Toimeksiantajayritys on perustettu vuonna 2015, ja se on Kouvolan ensimmäinen joogastudio. Teoriaosuudessa tarkastellaan monipuolisesti sosiaalista mediaa ja some-markkinointia. Tarkastelussa on myös, mitä on sosiaalinen media Suomessa vuonna 2020 ja miten kotimaiset yritykset käyttivät sosiaalista mediaa vuonna 2019. Teoreettisessa viitekehyksessä perehdytään myös joogaan ja sen harjoitusmuotoihin.´ Opinnäytetyön tavoitteena on luoda helposti lähestyttävä ja toteutettava some-strategia toimeksiantajayritykselle. Tavoitteena on myös saada lisää asiakkaita some-näkyvyyden kautta Jooga Gallerialle. Tutkimuskysymyksinä ovat: Millainen on hyvä some-strategia Jooga Gallerialle, jotta se olisi yritykselle realistinen toteuttaa? Miten some-strategialla voitaisiin lisätä yrityksen some-näkyvyyttä? Opinnäytteellä voidaan auttaa myös muita PKyrityksiä luomaan heille realistisesti toteutettava some-strategia. Tutkimus toteutettiin kvalitatiivisena eli laadullisena tutkimuksena teemahaastattelun muodossa. Tämän lisäksi käytettiin benchmarking-menetelmää, jossa tutkittiin kolmea toimeksiantajayritystä paremmin sosiaalisessa mediassa menestynyttä jooga-alan yritystä. Benchmarking-yritysten ja toimeksiantajayrityksen Facebook- ja Instagramkanavia tarkasteltiin lähes neljän kuukauden ajalta. Menetelmän avulla perehdyttiin kyseisten yritysten some-kanavien sisältöön, visuaalisuuteen, julkaisutahtiin ja seuraajien lukumäärään. Yrityksen sisällä tutkittiin myös eroavaisuuksia Facebookin ja Instagramin välillä. Teemahaastattelun tuloksina ja johtopäätöksinä luotiin toimeksiantajayritykselle vuodeksi some-strategia ja vuosikello. Some-strategia sisältää kohderyhmän, käytettävät resurssit, julkaisutahdin, käytettävät ohjelmat, visuaalisuuden, maksullisen mainonnan, tavoitteet, seurannan ja mittauksen suunnittelun. Specific measures are percent of zip code area flooded and the mean and maximum duration of flooding in flooded pixels within the zip code.     Taxonomic work on the land snail genus Sarika Godwin-Austen, 1907 in Cambodia is scarce. A total of three species were recognized from Cambodia prior to this study. However, their taxonomic descriptions were based mainly on shell morphology, with limited genital data. To address this knowledge gap, we opportunistically surveyed for land snails in Cambodia. Our inventory yielded four species of Sarika – one recognized species, Sarika bocourti (Morelet, 1875), from Battambang Province and three new species, Sarika khmeriana Pholyotha & Panha sp. nov., Sarika lactoconcha Pholyotha & Panha sp. nov. and Sarika nana Pholyotha & Panha sp. nov. from Kampot and Takeo Provinces in southern Cambodia. Our discovery involves the first species of Sarika to be described from Cambodia in more than a century highlights the extent to which the diversity of Cambodian land snails remains to be discovered. The status of two species, Sarika benoiti (Crosse & Fischer, 1863) and Sarika resplendens (Philippi, 1846), is at present ambiguous because no material identifiable as these species was found in recent extensive surveys. Although S. bocourti was recently collected from Cambodia, its taxonomic position remained unclear due to a lack of living specimens. Detailed descriptions and illustrations of living animals, shell morphology and reproductive anatomy are provided, and a map showing their distributions is given

    Characterization of proteorhodopsin 2D crystals by electron microscopy and solid state nuclear magnetic resonance

    Proteorhodopsin (PR) originally isolated from uncultivated γ-Proteobacterium as a result of biodiversity screens, is highly abundant ocean wide. PR, a Type I retinal binding protein with 26% sequence identity, is a bacterial homologue of Bacteriorhodopsin (BR). The members within this family share about 78% of sequence identity and display a 40 nm difference in the absorption spectra. This property of the PR family members provides an excellent model system for understanding the mechanism of spectral tuning. Functionally PR is a photoactive proton pump and is suggested to exhibit a pH dependent vectorality of proton transfer. This raises questions about its potential role as pH dependent regulator. The abundance of PR in huge numbers within the cell, its widespread distribution ocean wide at different depths hints towards the involvement of PR in utilization of solar energy, energy metabolism and carbon recycling in the Sea. Contrary to BR, which is known to be a natural 2D crystal, no such information is available for PR til date. Neither its functional mechanism nor its 3D structure has been resolved so far. This PhD project is an attempt to gain a deeper insight so as to understand structural and functional characterization of PR. The approach combines the potentials of 2D crystallography, Atomic Force Microscopy and Solid State NMR techniques for characterization of this protein. Wide range of crystalline conditions was obtained as a result of 2D crystallization screens. This hints towards dominant protein protein interactions. Considering the high number of PR molecules reported per cell, it is likely that driven by such interactions, the protein has a native dense packing in the environment. The projection map represented low resolution of these crystals but suggested a donut shape oligomeric arrangement of protein in a hexagonal lattice with unit cell size of 87Å*87Å. Preliminary FTIR measurements indicated that the crystalline environment does not obstruct the photocycle of PR and K as well as M intermediate states could be identified. Single molecule force spectroscopy and atomic force microscopy on these 2D crystals was used to probe further information about the oligomeric state and nature of unfolding. The data revealed that protein predominantly exists as hexamers in crystalline as well as densely reconstituted regions but a small percentage of pentamers is also observed. The unfolding mechanism was similar to the other relatively well-characterized members of rhodopsin family. A good correlation of the atomic force microscopy and the electron microscopy data was achieved. Solid State NMR of the isotopically labeled 2D crystalline preparations using uniformly and selectively labeling schemes, allowed to obtain high quality SSNMR spectra with typical 15N line width in the range of 0.6-1.2 ppm. The measured 15N chemical shift value of the Schiff base in the 2D crystalline form was observed to be similar to the Schiff base chemical shift values for the functionally active reconstituted samples. This provides an indirect evidence for the active functionality of the protein and hence the folding. The first 15N assignment has been achieved for the Tryptophan with the help of Rotational Echo Double Resonance experiments. The 2D Cross Polarization Lee Goldberg measurements reflect the dynamic state of the protein inspite of restricted mobility in the crystalline state. The behavior of lipids as measured by 31P from the lipid head group showed that the lipids are not tightly bound to the protein but behave more like the lipid bilayer. The 13C-13C homonulear correlation experiments with optimized mixing time based on build up curve analysis, suggest that it is possible to observe individual resonances as seen in case of glutamic acid. The signal to noise was good enough to record a decent spectrum in a feasible period. The selective unlabeling is an efficient method for reduction in the spectral overlap. However, more efficient labeling schemes are required for further characterization. The present spectral resolution is good for individual amino acid investigation but for uniformly labeled samples, further improvement is required.Proteorhodopsin (PR) wurde ursprünglich aus nicht kultivierten γ-Proteobakterium isoliert und ist in großen Mengen in den Ozeanen enthalten. Innerhalb der PR Familie haben die Mitglieder eine Sequenzhomologie zu ungefähr 78% und zeigen einen Unterschied von 40 nm im absorptions spektrum. Diese Eigenschaft bietet ein gutes Modelsystem um zu verstehen durch welchen Mechanismus das Absorptionsspektrum moduliert wird. PR ist ein photoaktive Protonenpumpe und es wird angenommen, dass die Richtung des Protonentransfers vom pH-wert abhängt, was auf eine Rolle als ein pH abhängiger Regulator hindeutet. Da PR sowohl in der Zelle in hoher Zahl, als auch in den Ozeanen in unterschiedlichen Tiefen weit verbreitet ist, wird angenommen, dass PR bei der Verwertung von Sonnenlicht, im Energiestoffwechsel und beim Kohlenstoffumsatz beteiligt ist. Im Gegensatz zu BR, welches bekannterweise 2D Kristalle bildet, ist etwas vergleichbares für PR bis heute nicht bekannt. Weder der Mechanismus von PR noch seine 3D Struktur sind bisher gelöst. Die vorliegende Doktorarbeit versucht offene Punkte zum Mechanismus und zur Struktur von PR zu klären. Für die Charakterisierung werden 2D Kristallographie, "Atomic Force Microscopy" und Festkörper NMR verwendet. Für die Bildung von 2D Kristallen konnte eine große Auswahl an Kristallisationbedingungen ermittelt werden, was auf deutliche Protein Protein Wechselwirkungen hindeutet. Zieht man die hohe Zahl an PR Molekülen pro zelle in betracht, ist es wahrscheinlich, dass durch diese Interaktionen auch in der natürlichen Membran eine dichte Packung der Proteine auftritt. Elektronenmikroskopische Aufnahmen mit geringer Auflösung deuten auf eine ringförmige Anordnung der Proteine in einem hexagonalen Gitter mit einer Einheitszelle von 87Å * 87Å. Vorläufige FTIR Messungen deuten darauf hin, dass diese Anordnung den Photozyklus nicht behindert und sowohl K als auch M Zustand konnten identifiziert werden. Um weitere Informationen über den Oligomerisierungszustand der 2D Kristalle zu gewinnen wurden Einzelmolekül - und Rasterkraft Mikroskopie durchgeführt. Hierbei zeigte sich, dass das Protein in kristallinen und dicht rekonstituierten Regionen überwiegend als Hexamer vorliegt. Daneben kann zu einem geringen Anteil auch ein pentamerer Zustand beobachtet werden. Der Mechanismus der Proteinentfaltung war vergleichbar zu anderen, besser untersuchten Mitgliedern der Rhodopsinfamilie. Zwischen den Daten aus der "Atomic Force Microscopy" und der Elektronenmikroskopie zeigt sich eine gute Korrelation. Festkörper NMR an vollständig und selektiv markierten 2D Kristallen ergaben Spektren mit einer typischen 15N Linienbreite von 0,6 bis 1,2 ppm. Die 15N chemische Verschiebung der Schiffschen Base hat im Kristall den gleichen Wert wie funktional aktiv rekonstitutierte Proben, was indirekt die Funktionalität und die korrekte Faltung bestätigt. Die Zuordnung der 15N Signale für Tryptophan wurde durch "Rotational Echo Double Resonance" Experimente vorgenommen. 2D kreuzpolarisation Lee Goldburg Messungen zeigen den dynamischen Zustand des Proteins trotz der eingeschränkten Mobilität im kristallinen Zustand. Das Verhalten der Lipide wurde mit 31P messungen der Lipidkopfgruppe untersucht und zeigt, dass diese nicht fest gebunden sind, sondern sich mehr wie in einer Lipiddoppelschicht verhalten. Für 13C-13C homonukleare korrelations Experimente wurde die Mischzeit durch die Analyse von Aufbaukurven optimiert. Diese Versuche deuten darauf hin, dass es möglich ist einzelne Resonanzen aufzulösen, wie im Fall des Glutamat gezeigt mit einem gutem Signal zu Rauschen Verhältnis. Selektives "unlabeling" ist eine effizente Methode um die Ueberlappung der Signal zu reduzieren. Darüberhinaus sind für eine weitere Chrakterisisierung effizentere Markierungsschemata notwendig. Die bisherige spektrale Auflösung ist gut genug für die Untersuchung einzelner Aminosäuren, für vollständig markierte Proben sind weitere Verbesserungen notwendig

Shell</i> (fig. 3A, B). Shell depressed, large (width up to 32.5 mm, height up to 17.3 mm) and rather thin to slightly solid. Shell colour yellowish brown to brownish. Whorls 6–6½, increasing regularly. Embryonic shell nearly smooth with very weak radial wrinkles. Spire dome-shaped; apex slightly protruding; suture impressed. Body whorl large and slightly shouldered to obtusely angulated. Upper shell surface sculptured with distinct radial ribs, crossed by spiral lines and with series of irregular-sized dash-shaped nodules arranged on radial ribs, and then radial ribs gradually disappearing below periphery towards umbilicus. Aperture crescent-shaped, little descending, well oblique, and with simple margin. Columellar margin simple and slightly reflected near umbilicus. Umbilicus narrowly opened.</p> <p> <i>Genital organs</i> (fig. 4A, B). Atrium (at) enlarged and very short. Penis (p) cylindrical, elongate, and with thin penial sheath covering penis near atrium. Inner surface sculptured, finely folded from atrium to middle of penis and then transformed to cuboidal penial pilasters (pp). Epiphallus (e) cylindrical, and slightly shorter than penis. Epiphallic caecum (ec) straight, smaller diameter than proximal epiphallus, and located at middle of epiphallus. Penial retractor muscle (prm) large, thickened and attached at tip of epiphallic caecum. Flagellum (fl) large, irregular slender, enlarged at the tip, and same length as epiphallus. Vas deferens (vd) thin tube.</p> <p>Vagina (v) short cylindrical and about half of penis length. Dart apparatus (da) enlarged, cylindrical and joined to atrium at vaginapenis junction. Gametolytic sac (gs) elongate bulbous (containing one spermatophore inside); gametolytic duct (gd) enlarged cylindrical. Free oviduct (fo) enlarged cylindrical, slightly longer than vagina, and proximally encircled with brownish tissue. Oviduct large lobules; prostate gland running alongside oviduct.</p> <p> <i>Spermatophore</i> (fig. 5). Spermatophore long and needle-shaped (fig. 5A). Sperm sac (ss) enlarged and elongate oval. Head filament (hf) elongate with smooth longitudinal folds (fig. 5B). Tail filament (tf) very long tube, and region close to sperm sac bearing three spines: spine I simple and very short; spine II longer than spine I with branching into small spinules; spine III longest with complicated branching into small spinules (fig. 5C). Region furthest away without spine; terminal part ca. two-thirds of its length with series of branching spines arranged in single row (fig. 5D, E).</p> <p> <i>Radula</i> (fig. 11A). Teeth arranged straight and with half row formula: 1–(16–17)–54. Central tooth symmetrical tricuspid with large mesocone and small ectocones. Lateral teeth asymmetrical tricuspid with large mesocone, and nearly absent to very small endocone and ectocone. Marginal teeth started around tooth number 16 or 17; inner teeth elongate bicuspid with lanceolate endocone and small ectocone; and outermost teeth gradually reduced in size.</p> <p> <i>External features</i> (fig. 2). Living snails with reticulated skin, dark grey to black eye stalks, and pale to dark grey body. Four well-developed mantle edges with pale creamy-grey to dark grey colour. Right shell lobe short and left shell lobe wanting. Dorsal lobes large and broad: anterior and posterior left dorsal lobes smaller than right dorsal lobe. Caudal fossa and caudal horn present.</p> <p> <i>Distribution</i> (fig. 1). Based on our survey, this species has a narrow distribution with two populations being found on isolated limestone hills near Attaran River in Mawlamyine city, Mon State, Myanmar. According to the literature, this species was recorded from the top of Muleyit, Attaran Valley, and Mergui, Yanglaw, Tenasserim Valley (Blanford & Godwin-Austen, 1908).</p> <p> <i>Remarks.</i> <i>Helix theodori</i> Philippi, 1846 was previously classified in the genus <i>Hemiplecta</i> because the shell morphology has strong radial striae on the dorsal shell surface; however, its taxonomic position has been uncertain since the first examination of the genitalia was done by Godwin-Austen (1907) based on two specimens from the Attaran [Mon State] (Godwin-Austen, 1907, 1918; Blanford & Godwin-Austen, 1908). Godwin-Austen (1907) reported that the genitalia of this species were similar to those of <i>Sarika</i>, but its genitalia have no epiphallic caecum near the penial retractor muscle. In this study, however, we discovered that the genitalia of this species have a straight epiphallic caecum with thickened penial retractor muscle in which the diameter of penial retractor muscle is slightly smaller than the diameter of epiphallic caecum (yellow arrow in fig. 4A).
