    design is polarising. not only in style, but in ways of doing business. the big companies are getting bigger, and have taken on the corporate culture of their clients – the language, the mentality and even the suits. at the same time, another phenomenon has taken place in design. this is a smaller, quieter phenomenon, and its impact is only just starting to be felt. this is where santamaria fits in. companies like Santamaria have intentionally stayed independent so that they can focus on giving a personal and innovative approach to design. these companies are often founded by people who are not driven by business but by the challenge of constantly pushing the boundaries. they are companies which are willing to defy convention in order to solve clients’ problems. their language is of imagination, innovation, creativity and passion. but while Santamaria is part of this phenomenon, in terms of location, specialisms and business relations, it is also in a world of its own. for a start it has three centres: the London base is run by husband-and-wife team Laura and Damian, with his brothers Fabio in milan and Felipe in madrid. each studio, which was set up in the 1990s, has specific strengths – identity and branding in the uk, product design in italy, fashion and architecture in spain. and as italian-argentines who trained in buenos aires, they bring fresh ideas to european design, rather than being immersed in its cultural heritage. they are able to experience and interpret cultural and social mores across the continent. Santamaria has the issue of identity at its heart. it is their belief in the strength of identity – however it is manifested – that underlies the Santamaria ideal. their driving force is to discover and express the essence of each project’s uniqueness. this book is a profound exploration of the meaning of identity. while offering no formulaic solutions, it gives an original perspective on the relationship between personal and corporate identity. at a time when individuals as well as organisations are questioning their existence and place in the world, Santamaria finds that the issues around personal identity are closely related to the issues that define a corporate brand. for Santamaria believe that identity runs deeper than a company manual. its cultural and consumer impact is more personal than that. and this is true, as well, of their own approach. the strength of their identity is forged through the collective force of these designers as individuals. prepare to be stimulated

    Oscar Wilde : a Victorian sage in a modern age

    This paper assesses Oscar Wilde’s reaction to the fin de siècle and argues against his widely-accepted position as a main figure in the English avant-garde movement, a view which major literary critics such as Peter Gay, Sos Eltis and S. I. Salamensky promote today. Based on Foucault’s definition of modernity as ‘a break with tradition' rather than a specific time, I argue that Wilde was not the modernist author he is widely perceived as, but a conventional Victorian sage who cleverly adopted, and tailored, the fashion of his time to deliver his thoroughly traditional teachings. The paper is split into five sections. The first of deals with Wilde’s creation of his dandy self and the influences of Carlyle, Arnold and Christ over him; the second section examines Ruskin’s influence over Wilde’s theory of art, and Wilde’s self-perception; the third section continues to examine the influence of the Victorian sages on Wilde by exploring his criticism of contemporary modernity in some of his works; the fourth and fifth sections deal with Wilde’s views on the roles of the sexes and his homosexuality respectively, and weigh these views, through further close analysis of his works, against the argument of his modernity. The research ends by asserting that Oscar Wilde was thoroughly Victorian in his views and themes, and that he perceived himself as a sage for his modern age.peer-reviewe

    La información de esta miniguía se basa en los trabajos de los arqueólogos Otto Schondube Baumbach, Jesús Teja Andrade, Wanda Tomassi de Magrelli y Estela Peña DelgadoEl asentamiento formaba parte de la frontera oriente del señorío tarasco. Se desconoce el nombre prehispánico del lugar; en la época colonial se llamó San Felipe Calvario, y en 1895, éste último se le cambió por el apellido Los Alzati, en honor de los hermanos José María, Marcos y Darío, héroes locales de la época de la intervención francesa. Las exploraciones arqueológicas llevadas a cabo en el sitio han sido escasas, por lo que sólo se ha descubierto una pequeña parte que corresponde a la zona ceremonial, ésta es, el área visitable.</p

Escuela de Administración de Empresas, 2021.Como parte del trabajo final de graduación para optar por el bachillerato Administración de Empresas del Instituto Tecnológico de Costa Rica, se lleva a cabo la elaboración de una propuesta con el fin de apoyar el proceso de transformación que tendrá la división Américas Hub Costa Rica de la empresa GlaxoSmithKline Costa Rica, la cual desea posicionar su marca dentro de los nuevos mercados donde operará. Américas Hub Costa Rica es un centro especializado de servicios dedicados al procesamiento de procesos administrativos relacionados con el capital humano de la compañía a nivel de América. Con el fin de desarrollar esta propuesta, se debe evaluar, en primer lugar, a todos aquellos sujetos que fungen dentro de la operación diaria de la división. Se propone la evaluación de los servicios de la división mediante el método SERVQUAL el cual se encuentra detallado en la presente investigación. Los datos para poder utilizar esta metodología fueron recolectados mediante cuestionarios realizados a los funcionarios de la división y la recolección de los datos de satisfacción del cliente que posee el equipo. Además, se detallan los diferentes mecanismos y sistemas que utiliza la división para monitorear esos aspectos. La metodología SERVQUAL se aplicó durante esta investigación de acuerdo con los lineamientos fundamentados en el estado del arte, y los insumos recolectados durante el análisis de resultados y situación actual. En base a estos fundamentos, se identificó que la división está en un escenario donde está preparado en cuanto al reconocimiento y posicionamiento de la marca en los nuevos mercados de operación. Por lo tanto, se establecen propuestas que apoyen este proceso de branding mediante las herramientas con las que ya cuenta la organización. Finalmente se detallan las conclusiones y recomendaciones que permiten apoyar los objetivos de la división.As part of the final graduation work to opt for the Business Administration baccalaureate of the Technological Institute of Costa Rica, a proposal is carried out in order to support the transformation process that the Americas Hub Costa Rica division of the GlaxoSmithKline Costa Rica company, which wants to position its brand within the new markets where it will operate. Americas Hub Costa Rica is a specialized service center dedicated to the processing of administrative processes related to the company's human capital at the American level. In order to develop this proposal, it is found that, in the first place, all those subjects who function within the daily operation of the division must be evaluated. The evaluation of the division's services is proposed using the SERVQUAL method, which is detailed in this research. The data to be able to use this methodology are collected through questionnaires made to the division officials and the collection of customer satisfaction data that the team has. In addition, the different mechanisms and systems used by the division to monitor these aspects are detailed. The SERVQUAL methodology is applied during this research in accordance with the guidelines based on the state of the art, and the inputs collected during the analysis of results and current situation. Based on these fundamentals, it is identified that the division is in a scenario where it is prepared in terms of brand recognition and positioning in the new operating markets. Therefore, proposals are established that support this branding process through the tools that the organization already has. As entrevistas temáticas procuram investigar os agentes, os recursos, as formas de constituição dos acervos, as condições infraestruturais e os enfoques documentais dessas iniciativas. Programa de Pós-graduação em Estudos da TraduçãoEste estudo analisa duas traduções do conto de fadas The Happy Prince (1888), de Oscar Wilde, com base nos pressupostos teóricos da análise da tradução, de Antoine Berman. Entre as traduções feitas para o leitor brasileiro, optou-se por analisar o processo tradutório realizado por Bárbara Heliodora (1992), e outro por Luciana Salgado (2004). O critério adotado para a seleção das respectivas traduções leva em conta o fato de a primeira ser elaborada por uma tradutora e crítica de literatura nacionalmente reconhecida, e de a segunda ser a tradução mais recente no Brasil. Buscam-se analisar os textos traduzidos quanto aos traços estilísticos do autor, às características do gênero literário do conto e às possíveis deformações que os textos traduzidos de maneira etnocêntrica podem apresentar. Para isso, divide-se o trabalho em três capítulos: o primeiro apresenta uma breve biografia de Oscar Wilde e um panorama da literatura inglesa no século XIX; o segundo capítulo aborda as características do conto como gênero literário, as características da literatura do fim do século XIX e os traços estilísticos do autor; no terceiro capítulo analisam-se os trabalhos das tradutoras mencionadas, com base nos critérios acima citados. Em seguida, tecem-se as considerações finais. Por fim, nos anexos, encontram-se transcritos os textos do conto original e as duas traduções. This research analyzes two translations about the tale The Happy Prince (1888) written by Oscar Wilde, based on the theoretical postulation of the translation investigation made by Antoine Berman. Among some translations of this tale to Brazilian reader, it was chosen to be analysed the translation process made by Bárbara Heliodora (1992), and another one made by Luciana Salgado (2004). The criterion chosen to select these translation works considers the fact that the first oneis done by a well-known translator and theater critic in Brazil, and the second translation is the most recent one done in Brazil. The study of them is focused on the stylistic peculiarities of the author, the characteristics of the tale as a literarian sort, and the disfigurations that usually occur in translated texts done by as the ethnocentric manner. In order to do the research, the work is divided into three chapters: the first one presents a brief biography of Oscar Wilde, the English literature on XIX century; the second chapter broaches the characteristics of the tale as a literarian sort, the characteristics of the literature in the end of XIX century and Wilde#s stylistic peculiarities; and in the third chapter the translation works made by the above mentioned translators are analysed based on the criterions referred. After that, the final considerations are made about the study. In the appendage, there is the original English text written, as well as the translated ones
