A Triple Band Bow Tie Array Antenna Using Both-sided MIC Technology
A single-fed linearly polarized 2x2 microstrip bow tie array antenna is proposed. The feed network has microstrip line and slot line where microstrip-slot branch circuit is connected in parallel. The feed network of the array is designed using both-sided MIC Technology to overcome the impedance matching problem of conventional feed networks. The 2x2 half bow tie array antenna is also truncated with spur lines for optimization of antenna performance. The array antenna unit can be realized in very simple and compact structure, as all the antenna elements and the feeding circuit is arranged on a Teflon glass fiber substrate without requiring any external network. The design frequency of the proposed antenna is 5 to 8 GHz (C-Band) and the obtained peak gain is 12.41 dBi. The resultant axial ratio indicates that linear polarization is achieved
Analisa Kekuatan Haluan Tongkang Terhadap Penambahan Konstruksi
In the current era of globalization, transportation is a very important part in the development of a country or region, the problem that often occurs at this time is that the bow of the ship at its base will often collide when it will lean into the port (jeti), when the impact occurs over time the bow and the inside will not be able to withstand the impact which will cause dents or deformation. The purpose of adding this construction is to increase the strength of the bow of the barge because the bow is often docked to the jeti (dock) and is easily deformed. The purpose of the author in this case uses a solution using the Ansys application. ANSYS is one of the software used to analyze various kinds of structures, fluid flow, and heat transfer from several other analysis software, namely Nastran, Catia, Fluent, and others. The stages of solving the problem to get the stress and strain distribution on the bow due to static loads using the finite element method (FEM) are considered symmetrical in shape and loading so that the modeling is made ¼ part).ANSYS is a product of the ANSYS Inc. company, ANSYS is a product of ANSYS Inc. which is used for Simulation and Engineering Design of 3D products. the result of this study is the impact force due to collisions received by the ship of = 8.528 tons
The Plastic Bakery: A Case of Material Driven Design
A growing number of scholars argue that understanding how people experience materials in products, i.e. Materials Experience, is essential indesigning meaningful material applications. Material Driven Design (MDD) has been developed as the method to understand these experiential traitsof materials and embed them in the design process. However, the MDD method is yet to find its way as a mainstream design practice acrossdiverse projects. This paper presents one of these projects, in which a designer followed the MDD method to design (1) a service system forcollection and recycling of plastic wastes, and (2) a product that brings forward the unique qualities of recycled plastics and make people cherishre-cycled plastics as personal Do-It-Yourself souvenirs.Emerging MaterialsApplied Ergonomics and Desig
Impact of skin temperature on sensory nerve conductivity in the median nerve
Understanding the effect of temperature on the peripheral nervous system helps to have a better knowledge of the physiological mechanisms and functionality of the neuromuscular system. This study aimed to analyze the effect of temperature change, from 26 to 33°C at the dorsal side of the hand, on the sensory conduction velocity, distal latency, and amplitude of the median nerve. The study consists of 19 individuals between 20–40 years. The measurement was carried out at three temperature ranges: cold (26–27°C), intermediate (28–29°C), and warm (32–33°C). Sensory conduction velocity and distal latency were significantly correlated to temperature with a p-value <0.001. Sensory nerve conduction velocity and distal latency changes by 1,61 m/s and 0.1 ms with a temperature change of 1°C, respectively. In this study, the author did not observe a significant correlation (p-value of 0.82) between temperature and amplitude due to the large variability of amplitude in the temperature range used in this study. It is important to perform electroneurographic diagnosis at a temperature of over 31-34°C, otherwise, a correction factor must be used for a reliable diagnosis
Automated Traffic Detection System Based on Image Processing
This paper proposes a low-cost automated traffic detection system based on image processing. Dhaka is one of the crowded cities in the world with highly challenging traffic system. There is substantial lack of awareness among the drivers of transport system. As a result, citizens do not follow the rules and regulation while driving in Dhaka city. The tendency of violating the traffic regulation is noticeable throughout the country. As a result, the whole traffic system collapses very often and sometimes it ends-up with severe accidents. In recent days, the government has taken different initiatives including enlargement of pedestrian walkways, building new flyovers and foot-over bridges, expansion of existing roads. But, violation still the outcome of all these initiatives could not improve the situation significantly. The proposed system will automatically detect the traffic through live streaming video so that the detected images can be used to detect traffic violation. Later on, the law enforcement agency will be able to take necessary legal steps based on the stored information on the database
Repurposing waste pozzolans for cleaner mortar production: Mechanical and durability properties with microstructural behavior
This study explores three waste-derived supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs)—volcanic ash (VA), egg shell (ES), and rice husk ash (RHA)—as partial replacements for ordinary Portland cement (OPC) in the mortar at 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20% replacement levels. Thirteen mortar mixes were evaluated based on physical, chemical, fresh, mechanical, and durability properties, as well as high-temperature performance, failure modes, microstructural, and cost analyses. The results showed compressive strength improvements of 8.2% with VA and 7% with RHA at 5% replacement, while ES achieved a 16% increase at 10%. Elevated temperatures reduced compressive strength by up to 87%. Flexural strength increased by 15% for VA, 43% for ES, and 21% for RHA. All SCMs met ASTM C618-22 criteria for natural pozzolans. Optimal replacement levels were 5% for VA, 10% for ES, and 5% for RHA. Overall, ES at 10% demonstrated superior strength despite higher water absorption, highlighting their eco-friendly potential. The presentation of the authors' names and (or) special characters in the title of the pdf file of the accepted manuscript may differ slightly from what is displayed on the item page. Multilayer regulation underlies the functional precision and evolutionary potential of the olfactory system
Sensory neurons must be reproducibly specified to permit accurate neural representation of external signals but also able to change during evolution. We studied this paradox in the Drosophila olfactory system by establishing a single-cell transcriptomic atlas of all developing antennal sensory lineages, including latent neural populations that normally undergo programmed cell death (PCD). This atlas reveals that transcriptional control is robust, but imperfect, in defining selective sensory receptor expression. A second layer of precision is afforded by the intersection of expression of functionally-interacting receptor subunits. A third layer is defined by stereotyped PCD patterning, which masks promiscuous receptor expression in neurons fated to die and removes "empty" neurons lacking receptors. Like receptor choice, PCD is under lineage-specific transcriptional control; promiscuity in this regulation leads to previously-unappreciated heterogeneity in neuronal numbers. Thus, functional precision in the mature olfactory system belies developmental imprecision that might facilitate the evolution of sensory pathways.
