Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Educação política: uma discussão necessária na busca por uma educação formal
No full textDevido a atual conjuntura brasileira, a prática escolar tem destinado pouco espaço para a discussão de temas políticos, assunto tão importante para o desenvolvimento do senso de cidadania de nossos(as) jovens. Uma vez que a pauta pela defesa de uma educação integral está bastante em evidência, este estudo se propõe a discutir e contextualizar a abordagem política em espaços escolares, ao entender que os futuros egressos do secundário precisam estar aptos a pensar e conviver em sociedade, de forma crítica e autônoma. Ao levantar a bandeira da escola neutra, o discurso dominante tenta passar uma imagem negativa da reflexão política em sala de aula e, implicitamente, busca tornar regra suas concepções ao relegar tais discussões. Por isto, disseminam-se manifestações de ódio, preconceitos e dogmas políticos, muitas vezes causados por mera falta de conhecimento quanto às propostas apresentadas por cada ideologia ou partido político. Este estudo, neste sentido, propõe uma análise das legislações educacionais vigentes, do discurso de movimentos como o Escola sem Partido e de pesquisas correlatas, com o objetivo de fornecer estratégias didáticas para que docentes possam trabalhar a educação política em espaços escolares, contribuindo para uma formação integral dos(as) educandos(as). A metodologia empregada foi a qualitativa, utilizando análise documental e revisão bibliográfica com relação às fontes pesquisadas, além da pesquisa participante como forma de condução da pesquisa. O produto educacional vinculado ao estudo trata, justamente, de levar à sala de aula o conhecimento político ligado à práxis social e em linha com o modelo de educação atual ? contextualizada e em vistas a uma formação voltada ao preparo para o exercício da cidadania. Como resultados encontrados, pôde-se verificar que o discurso dos movimentos que pregam uma educação neutra não encontra bases legais em nossa norma jurídica. Ao mesmo tempo, concluiu-se que os(as) estudantes desejam que a escola lhes apresente a temáticas contextualizadas com a rotina social, de forma a lhes preparar para uma correta inserção na sociedade. Assim, é esperado que esta pesquisa possa auxiliar a todos(as) que busquem por uma sistematização para o trato da reflexão política em sala de aula, pensando sempre em uma educação realmente integral, que não exclua a formação cultural em detrimento da técnica.Due to the current Brazilian situation, the school practice has given little space to the discussion of political issues, a subject so important for the development of the sense of citizenship of our youth. Since the agenda for the defense of a comprehensive education is well in evidence, this study proposes to discuss and contextualize the political approach in school spaces, understanding that the future high school egress need to be able to think and live in society, in a critical and autonomous way. In raising the flag of the neutral school, the dominant discourse attempts to pass a negative image of political reflection in the classroom and, implicitly, seeks to rule its conceptions by relegating such discussions. This is why there are widespread expressions of hatred, prejudice and political dogmas, often caused by a lack of knowledge about the proposals presented by each ideology or political party. This study, in this sense, proposes an analysis of the current educational legislation, of the discourse of movements as the School without Party and related researches, with the objective of providing didactic strategies so that teachers can work the political education in school spaces, contributing to a the integral education of the students. The methodology used was qualitative, using documentary analysis and bibliographical review in relation to the sources researched, besides the participant research as a way of conducting the research. The educational product linked to the study is precisely to bring to the classroom the political knowledge linked to social praxis and in line with the current education model – contextualized and in view to an education aimed at the preparation for the exercise of citizenship. As results found, it could be verified that the discourse of the movements that preach a neutral education does not find legal grounds in our legal norm. At the same time, it was concluded that the students want the school to present them with contextualized themes with the
social routine, in order to prepare them for a correct insertion in the society. Thus, it is hoped that this research can help all those who seek a systematization for the treatment of political reflection in the classroom, always thinking of a truly integral education, which does not exclude cultural formation at the expense of technique

No full textTCC (graduação) - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Centro de Ciências Jurídicas, Direito.Desde a Revolução Industrial experimenta-se um processo de mudanças tecnológicas, económicas e sociais que vêm aumentando o seu ritmo a cada ano e que por conseguinte fazem tomar-se necessárias respostas rápidas aos novos desafios que se apresentam a cada sociedade ou a cada nação, região ou "bloco econômico". Este novo cenário que se vislumbra num horizonte próximo, traz consigo novas formas de se pensar o Direito, principalmente no tangente aos direitos sociais e trabalhistas. A tendência contemporânea é a flexibilização do Direito do Trabalho, fator este decorrente da interação lógica das novas tecnologias e da globalização de mercado, globalização esta, que se faz sentir forte hoje em nosso país, e que especificamente se aproxima a passos largos com a efetivação plena do chamado Mercosul, que virá a estabelecer regras comuns entre os países que vierem a fazer parte deste mercado comum, e que de uma forma ou de outra terão que adaptar suas leis trabalhistas, de forma a permitir o trabalho do estrangeiro e diminuir a diferenças existentes entre os países membros. Sem com isso menosprezar os princípios norteadores e fundamentais do Direito do Trabalho, reforçando o papel de asseguradores de garantias mínimas aos trabalhadores, estabelecendo valores que devem ser respeitados e tutelando os interesses coletivos da classe trabalhadora. O contrato de trabalho temporário se torna, neste contexto, um instituto de extrema importância, a crise que se agiganta à nossa frente impõe uma mudança de atitude que, em sua abrangência, abarca governos, empresários e sindicatos. É neste sentido que se supõe ser o contrato de trabalho temporário, uma das formas de se preencher estas frentes de trabalho que poderiam surgir com a flexibilização do contrato de trabalho temporário, como já ocorre em outros países, e particularmente nos Estados Unidos, onde a importância dos trabalhadores temporadas na economia americana cresce, a olhos vistos. Mas não nos moldes estabelecidos pela legislação brasileira, mas sim, dentro de moldes muito mais flexíveis e que permitem ao empregador e ao trabalhador uma convivência muita mais pacífica e próspera.Observações: Digitalização realizada a partir do TCC impresso. Efeito do elemento de liga nióbio na condutividade térmica, microestrutura e propriedades mecânicas de uma liga de ferro fundido cinzento
Get PDFEste trabalho teve como principal objetivo o estudo da microestrutura, propriedades mecânicas e condutividade térmica da liga de ferro fundido cinzento GG 25. A proposta consiste na análise comparativa, verificando as alterações microestruturais provocadas pela adição de 0,36 % de nióbio nesta liga e seu reflexo nas propriedades mecânicas e condutividade térmica. Também foram estudadas as alterações microestruturais provocadas pelo aquecimento do material até 900°C com posterior resfriamento ao ar e, diferentes condições de resfriamento. O estudo foi realizado através de investigações metalográficas, análises de dureza, resistência mecânica e análise da condutividade térmica. Observou-se que a adição de nióbio na liga de ferro fundido cinzento alterou a morfologia das lamelas de grafita, aumentou as propriedades mecânicas e reduziu a condutividade térmica do material. Também foi observado que condições de resfriamento mais bruscas afetam a microestrutura do ferro fundido cinzento, elevando também sua dureza. Quanto ao aquecimento até 900°C com posterior resfriamento ao ar, não foi observado a formação de martensita ou cementita.The main objective of this work was to study the microstructure, echanical properties and termal conductivity of the gray cast iron alloy GG 25. The proposal consists in the comparative analysis, checking the icrostructural changes caused by the addition of 0,36% of niobium in this alloy and it’s effect on mechanical properties and thermal conductivity. cooling and different cooling conditions were also studied. The study was carried out by metallographic investigations, hardness analyzes, mechanical strength and thermal conductivity analysis. It was observed that the addition of niobium in the gray cast iron alloy changed the morphology of the graphite lamellar, increased the mechanical properties and reduced the thermal conductivity of the material. It was also observed that more abrupt cooling conditions affect the gray iron microstructure, also raising its hardness. As for heating up to 900 ° C with subsequent air cooling, the formation of martensite or cementite wasn’t observed

Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases.
