Recep Peker in the term of Atatürk (1920 - 1938)
TEZ ADI : ATATÜRK DÖNEM NDE RECEP PEKER ( 1920-1938 ) YAZAR ADI : OSMAN KIDIŞ Recep Peker, Cumhuriyet'in ilk yıllarından itibaren devletin çeşitli kademelerinde oldukça önemli görevler almıştır. Bununla birlikte yalnızca devlet yönetiminde değil aynı zamanda devletin tek siyasi partisi olan Halk Fırkası daha sonraki adıyla Cumhuriyet Halk Partisi'nde genel sekreterlik yapmış, bu görevleriyle genç cumhuriyetin kurum ve yenilik kararlarının alınmasında önemli rolü olan bir kişi olmuştur. Recep Peker ile ilgili farklı konularda farklı görüşler öne sürülmüştür. Kimine göre o, faşist rejimi savunmuş ve bu rejimin Türkiye'de de yaşaması için çaba harcamış bir siyasetçi, bir diğer görüşe göre ise Recep Peker'in Atatürk ilkelerine bağlı, Atatürk milliyetçiliğini savunan bir siyasetçi olduğu görüşündedirler. Bu çalışma üç bölüme ayrılır: I. Bölüm olan Recep Peker'in Hayatı ana başlığında; şahsiyeti ve ailesi, eğitimi, askeri görevleri ve milli mücadeleye katıldıktan sonraki dönemde yaptığı siyasal görevleri. II. Bölüm olan Atatürk dönemi Recep Peker'in siyasi hayatı ana başlığında; 1920- 1938 dönemi siyasi hayatının başlangıcı, cumhuriyetin ilanı sonrası siyasi oluşumlarda üstlendiği görevler, siyasi hayatındaki çekişmeler ve Atatürk ile olan ilişkilerini analizi. III. Bölüm olan Recep Peker'in Türk inkılabına bakış ve düşünceleri ana başlığında ise Recep Peker'in Cumhuriyetin temel ilkelerine ilişkin görüşlerini ve ideolojilere bakışı. Recep Peker hakkında farklı görüş ve değerlendirmelerin olduğu ortadadır. Bu sebeple Recep Peker'in temel görüşlerini ortaya çıkarabilmek için böyle bir araştırma yapma gereği duyulmuştur. According some views, he was a politician who has defended fascist idea and struggled to make it live in Turkey.On the other hand , Recep PEKER was a politician who believe the Atatürk?s principle and Atatürk nationalism. This work is seperated for 3 parts: First part, under the topic of Recep PEKER?s life; Recep PEKER?s identity and family, education, military missions and political duties after joining national war. Second part, under the topic of Recep PEKER?s political life in term of Atatürk; begining of his political life in 1920-1938, his duties in political constitution after the declaration of republic, evolution of his political life and analysis of his communication with Atatürk. Third part, under the topic of Recep PEKER?s view at Turkish nkılap; after Recep PEKER?s views against main principals of republic. It?s clear that there are many different views and critics about Recep PEKER. For this reason making this search is necessary to show basic ideas of Recep PEKER. It?s thought that by the help of these analysis, clearing prejudiced ideas about Recep PEKER and being a resource for the next researches
Effects of age and anxiety on learning and memory
This study aims to investigate the effects of age and anxiety on behavior, learning and memory in rats. Before and after the anxiety and learning tests, locomotor activity, exploratory activity and autonomic functions of the rats were tested in open field area. At the beginning and at the end of behavior tests, urines were collected so as to determine 5-hydroxyrindolaceticacid (5-HIAA) levels. After anxiety, except for defecation, all parameters in open field such as line crossing, rearing, sitting and number of grooming were decreased in both young and aged animals. 5-Hydroxyindolaceticacid levels were decreased and serum CORT levels were increased, it is supported that especially the aged rats were much more affected from anxiety compared to the young ones. Elevated T-maze results show that emotional learning did not change while conditioned performance was tested in the closed arm and unconditioned performance was tested in the open arm. Nevertheless, it is observed that aging leaded to extensions in avoidance responses and thus caused difficulty in learning. In water maze test, rats showed higher performance in reaching the platform in repetitive trials; this demonstrates that they have learned by environmental cues. Experimental group had not better performance in reaching the platform according to control group, so this supports that anxiety affects spatial learning. As a conclusion, it could be stated that especially in aged rats, anxiety that is created by elevated T-maze and cat odor and supported with 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid and serum corticosterone, causes difficulty in emotional and spatial learning. </p

PhDThe objective of this thesis is to be the first systematic study of the
political instrumentalization of football in Francoist Spain from 1939
to 1975.
Seven separate and contrasting aspects of this political
instrumentalization may be isolated, and, accordingly, this thesis will
consist of a chapter examining each one of these seven aspects in turn.
After a first introductory chapter, Chapter Two will examine the
application of Fascist concepts to Spanish football. In the third
chapter, the questions of whether and to what extent football was used
by the Franco regime as a political soporific will be discussed. The
theme of Chapter Four is the lack of democracy within the structures of
the game, a situation that is alleged to have been deliberately imposed
by the regime in order to not create an uncomfortable comparison for
itself with the lack of national and local political democracy. The
poor working conditions of the footballers, which mirrored those of the
great majority of Spanish workers during the Franco period, are the
subject of Chapter Five. In the sixth Chapter, the political
significance of the presence in Francoist Spain of a group of refugee
players and coaches from Europe will be examined. The diplomatic
and ambassadorial significance of football, in particular of the
spectacular international triumphs of the Real Madrid club, will be
discussed in Chapter Seven. The political significance of football as a
focus for Basque and Catalan nationalist sentiment, in opposition to the
centralist Madrid regime, is the subject of Chapter Eight

The former is a mainstream Leftist party while the latter is a center-right political party. Brasil and Turkey have achieved a significant level of socio-economic development, while their influence in the internaltional political arena has increased considerably in the 21st century. This study aims to make a comparative analysis of the domestic and international policies of these two political parties by specifically focusing on the significance of Lula da Silva's and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's political leadership characteristics in the process of transformation in Brasil and in Turkey respectively. This thesis covers the periods of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's PT government (2002-2010) for Brasil, and Recep Tayyip Erdogan's Ak Parti government (2002-...) for Turkey. Although these two political leaders define their political ideologies as leftist/socialist and conservative democrat which are completely opposite political perspectives, their neo-liberal economic policies and pragmatic social doctrines, and their rhetoric and practices demonstrate considerable similarities. In this respect, this study will discuss this puzzle in the context of triangular analysis method (individual-state-international system) which is one of the most common comparative foreign policy analysis tools. The study is conducted as a field work and an observation, complemented with a literature review, all of which are completed in Brasil. This research also includes statistical data, and primary and secondary sources gathered in Brasil and Turkey. The significance of this study comes from the fact that it is the first scientific research which comparatively analyses Lula da Silva and Recep Tayyip Erdogan as significant political leaders in Brasil and Turkey. This study is also the first literary work in Turkey focusing on the political history and the social structure of Brasil. The author believes that this research will contribute to the future studies of students and researchers who are interested in this subject.
