This dissertation aims at showing how criticis found in newspapers treated Clarice Lispector's literary work, from 1943 up to the nineties, in order to identify some of the elements that consitituted such a criticism, indicate some possible ways to understand it and propose adequate parameters to insert it in the collection of Clarice Lispector's criticism fortune. Based on the supposition that criticism found in newspapers can be an important tool in the process of reception, especially when it proposes criteria to the interpretation of literary production, answers given by Clarice Lispector's critics to the so called challenge of reading and introducing her to readers are analysed.MestradoMestre em Teoria Literari

Poetic workshops with young people, adults and the elderly: crossings (s)

Poetic workshops with young people, adults and the elderly: crossings (s) explores the process of reception of poetry by young students, adults and elderly in workshops in which the abilities of reading, writing and listening to students had the poetic dimension as their main focus. The workshops were conducted from 2012 to 2015 at ESEBA – Escola de Educação Básica da Universidade Federal de Uberlândia. The study discussed the fact that there is evidence, at the present time, that Literature and, consequently, its teaching, is being overlooked in research, official guidelines and schools. Having in mind such problematization, the guiding hypothesis of the research was that in the workshops students and the teacher could produce a process of living reception, (re) discovering the strength of the poetic word that would, therefore, offer alternatives of learning, openings for the diversity of forms of perception and expression of the world through the poetic language. Thus, with the aim of reflecting on the possibilities and effects of poetry in Basic Literature classes, research was theoretically and methodologically based on the contributions of the aesthetics of reception and effect, particularly from authors such as Wolfgang Iser, and Karheinz Stierle, Paulo Freire, Maria Helena S. Patto, Antonio Candido, Plato, Élie Bajard, Paul Zumthor, Gaston Bachelard, Jorge Luis Borges, and Gilles Deleuze. These authors allowed the intersection between Literature and teaching, which, in turn, enabled a dialogue with the fields of Education, Philosophy and Psychology. The analyzes of the poems written by the students, in the workshops, showed, in the midst of the typical difficulties of such productions, practically of all order, that the students knew the "deviltries" that they are able to do with words. They have, thus, somehow, experienced the magic of the word. The results obtained with this research, therefore, point to the urgency for literary studies to radicalize the dispute for advisory and deliberative spaces in the reading, writing, vocalization and listening policies, as they result from the guidelines curricula, content, choice of titles and methodologies of teaching Literature. Such a dimension seems to be of little prestige, but it is actually of fundamental and decisive value to favor or not the literary experience.

This dissertation is the result of research developed within the scope of the Professional Master's Program in Letters (PROFLETRAS), from the Federal University of Uberlandia, whose general objective is to develop and apply a didactic intervention proposal, centered on the reading and critical analysis of Cora's poems Coralina and the dialogue of these poems with life experiences of students of Youth and Adult Education. To achieve the objective, we rely on theoretical-methodological assumptions of Critical Discourse Analysis (CHOULIARAKI; FAIRCLOUGH, 1999; FAIRCLOUGH, 1989, 2001, 2003), in studies on multiliteracies (COPE; KALANTZIS, 2000; ROJO 2009; ROJO 2012; ROJO 2012; ROJO 2012; ROJO; BARBOSA, 2015), literacy (KLEIMAN, 1995; SOARES, 2004), literary literacy (COSSON, 2012, 2014 a, b), about the genre poem (PERFEITO, VEDOFATO, 2011). And in literary work (CORALINA, 1987). We developed a qualitative research, of an applied nature and in line with the assumptions of action research. The proposal, which makes up a supplementary booklet accompanying this dissertation, was applied at a public school in Goiás, in Santa Rita do Araguaia, and the data were generated through a questionnaire, field diary, guided reading diary, from recording of classes and the production of different texts by the participants. The results showed that this research provided students who study at EJA with the opportunity to participate in practices systematic reading, speaking and critical analysis of Cora Coralina's poems, which contributed to: bringing students closer to the literary text; the development of the capacity for critical analysis of poems, paying attention to the specifics of the genre, to the linguistic-discursive choices and to the different representations of the world and identifications that they build; the establishment of relationships, by the participants, between what they read and what they live; reflection on how they represent the world, how they represent and identify themselves. In addition, this study provides didactic-pedagogical material to Portuguese language teachers, working at different levels of education, especially in YAE which may provide them with subsidies for the work of reading and analyzing genres in the artistic-literary field. Reinventions and reconfigurations: Symbolic displacements in Little Red Riding Hood adaptations

    No full text
This work objectives to research the fairy tale Little Red Riding Hood, to analyze the Braziliam children’s literature books Chapeuzinho Amarelo, by Chico Buarque e Fita verde no cabelo, by Guimarães Rosa; for comparing them to classic versions by Charles Perrault and by the Brothers Grimm, based on theories of Studies of Imaginary. Proceeding a comparative reading of these literary texts, we verified differences and displacements that point to a remarkable transposition of symbols. Using a descriptive-analytical methodology, we have intended to analyze the changes in the adaptations of the classic tale, as well making a reflection about the relevance of a Pedagogy of Imagination for the reading education and for the literary reading, especially in the elementary school. Our considerations are based on theorists such as Bettelheim (2020), Coelho (2008), Darnton (1986), Durand (2012), Hutcheon (1991), Jung (2011), Wunenburger (2006), among others.

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis

Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods
