Abstract : The Geographical Indications confirm attributes of products and services found in their original territory, granting them reputation and alongside boosting their visibility and international acknowledgment. In this process, they stimulate economical development as well as the preservation, when not the recovery of cultures and traditions of the involved communities. From this perspective, the Geographical Indication (GI) corroborates with sustainability, through the local characteristics, organization and commitment inherent to the procedure of obtaining the Geographical Indication. To confirm this hypothesis, we performed a study focused on the cachaça of Salinas, which achieved Geographical Indication in 2012 for the region's artisanal cachaça. The procedure included four steps: a) bibliographical review; b) research on the portal of the National Industrial Property Institute, which is the entity responsible for the Geographical Indication in Brazil; c) identification of the main parts; d) data survey with consultants and representatives of the classes that support the initiative. As a result, it became possible to identify the mobilization of producers, public administration, support entities and education and research institutions in order to obtain the Geographic Indication. The case study shows the lack of indications and the emergent stage of the Geographic Indications in Brazil, which still doesn?t provide sufficient aid for the accomplishment of its goals, making it necessary to create indicators and perform benchmarking in order to verify success and issues to be improved, always respecting locals' wishes and pace
Audiomobiles, Sculptures and Conundrums
Roberto Gerhard was a pioneer of electronic music in England creating a number of substantial concert, theatre and radio works from as early as 1954. Gerhard’s electronic music is one of the richest repositories for understanding the development of the composer’s late compositional technique. Apart from the Symphony no.3, ‘Collages’, none of Gerhard’s electronic music is published. This paper will discuss aspects of Gerhard’s electronic music, focusing on Audiomobiles (1958-59) and Sculptures (1963)
Roberto Gerhard’s Sound Compositions: A Historical-Philological Perspective. Archive, Process, Intent and reenactment
This research advances the current state of knowledge in the field of early tape music both empirically and methodologically. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the impact that the electronic medium exerted in the musical thinking of Roberto Gerhard, one of the most outspoken, prolific and influential composers in the Spanish diaspora whose musical legacy, for the most part unknown, is a major landmark in the early history of electroacoustic music. Gerhard’s personal tape collection, one of the largest historical archives of its kind reported in the literature, is exceptional for both its antiquity (50+-year-old tapes) and its abundance of production materials. Through the digitisation and analysis of the composer’s tape collection this research argues that the empirical study of audio documents sets out a basis for a broader understanding of textual processes. More specifically, the research demonstrates that the reconstruction of works based on magnetic tape sketches is a powerful method to advance the understanding of early tape music. This research also examines Gerhard’s sound compositions in relation to the post-war context in which they were composed. Finally, this research presents performance documentation that proposes an approach to the electroacoustic music repertoire in which creativity is not at odds with rigor and critical discernment demonstrating that archival study can be closely aligned to the concept of re-enactment
Luiz Roberto Salinas Forte’s “retrato calado” as political action
The abject torture inflicted on professor Luiz Roberto Salinas Fortes by the last Brazilian dictatorship meant to him a barbaric effort to snatch something specifically human from him; a word. To stand against this undignified word pulled out of him in the darkness of the prison cell, Salinas artistically created a speech meant to bring the gloom in which he was absorbed to the light of the public sphere. The outcome is Retrato calado, (literally "Mute portrait", but a wordplay out of "Retrato falado" Portuguese for "facial composite"), a book containing a noble speech about ignoble acts and sketching a portrait that unveils a person who is broken into pieces but is struggling to keep his integrity. Transcending the almost inevitable paths of allegation and grievance, Salinasappears rather as someone who fulfills his duty to bring into the light of public sphere what was done to him; a duty out of the love for the world, where one can find his integrity. In this authentic political action, the philosophy professor embodies and exemplifies the dignity of the public speech by speaking about its opposite

This contribution deals with a central theme of the training of Leon Battista Alberti: studies, as hypothesized by G. Mancini (1882, 1887 and 1911), at the school of Gasparino Barzizza in Padua, made between 1415 and 1421. Are reviewed data corroborating this discipleship: two letters of Barzizza in ms. Riccardi 779; some acts which show links of the family of Alberti to rapresentative members of Paduan Academy; an act of 1422, published in the appendix, moreover, attests that Leonardo, the son of Coluccio Salutati, frequented to Padua the circle of Alberti, legitimizing the hypothesis that for this track Leon Battista has known the 'De laboribus Herculis' of Coluccio: the herculean theme, central for Salutati and for Civil Humanism, is made object of parody by Alberti in the 'Vita Sancti Potiti', in 'Momus', and also in 'Canis' and 'Musca' (R. Rinaldi, 2002)
Political Discourse and Neoliberal Reform in Mexico 1988-1994.
PhDThis thesis examines the impact of economic liberalism on the dominant source of
legitimation in Mexico - nationalism - during the presidency of Carlos Salinas de
Gortari (1988-94). It asks whether national ideology remained of value as a
legitimising force given the ways in which neoliberalism challenged its social rationale
and looks at the search for a new basis of consensus. The thesis argues that salinismo
continued to find nationalism valuable to maintaining consensus by providing a
formula which could mediate rival individual and social claims. It analyses
nationalism through the content attributed to the individual and the social in political
discourse of the period.
Chapter 1 argues that a relationship has existed between political economy and
national ideology since Mexico's independence. This has been determined by elites
seeking to establish a state sufficiently stable to enable economic development. In the
20th century, conceptions of nationality provided criteria for "nation-building", the
creation of an integrated citizenry free of divisions which threatened stability. Chapter
2 argues that Salinas continued to find nationalism of legitimising value to his own
state reforms, but adapted it to neoliberal priorities.
Chapters 3 and 4 focus on how Salinas dealt in two instances - landholding and
free trade - with conflicts generated by rival conceptions within nationalism and
neoliberalism of the individual and sovereignty. Chapter 5 examines how intellectuals
reassessed nationalist ideology, and how the new models of community they imagined
reflected the search for a legitimising formula functional to the new political economy.
Chapters 6 and 7 argue that opposition parties on Left and Right also sought such a
formula and assessedth e need to mediate individual and social claims.
The thesis contributes to an understanding of the role nationalism has played in
Mexico's capitalist development, shedding light upon its fate within accelerated
modernisation
