Hydrological behaviour of the granitic Strengbach catchment (Vosges massif, Eastern France) during a flood event
A field campaign combining monitoring devices and determination of isotopes and chemical elements has been performed during a summer thunderstorm in the small granitic Strengbach catchment (Vosges, France). The collected ground data were used in a hydrological modelling exercise including two conceptual rainfallrunoff models (GR4, TOPMODEL). The predominant role in flood generation of pre-event water coming from the superficial layers of the water saturated area has been shown and a conceptual scheme has been proposed derived from the field observations. The two tested modelling structures and assumptions are not able to take into account fully the complexity of the physical processes involved in flood generation

A functional variant of the serotonin transporter gene (SLC6A4) moderates impulsive choice in attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder boys and siblings
Background: impulsive drive for immediate reward (IDIR) and delay aversion are dissociable elements of the preference for immediate over delayed rewards seen in attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). We hypothesized that IDIR would be associated with dopamine regulating genes and delay aversion would be associated with serotonin-regulating genes. Methods: impulsive drive for immediate reward and delay aversion were measured in 459 male children and adolescents (328 ADHD and 131 unaffected siblings) with a laboratory choice task. The sample was genotyped for the 5HTT (SLC6A4) promoter serotonin-transporter-linked polymorphic region polymorphism and a DAT1 (SLC6A3) 40-base pair variable number tandem repeat located in the 3?-untranslated region of the gene. Results: there was no effect of dopamine transporter (DAT)1 on IDIR. As predicted, serotonin-transporter-linked polymorphic region s-allele carriers were more delay averse. This effect was driven by the s/l genotype in the ADHD group. These results were not altered by taking account of the rs25531 A/G single nucleotide polymorphism and were independent of age, IQ, and oppositional defiant disorder symptoms. Conclusions: the results support the genetic distinctiveness of IDIR and delay aversion in ADHD and implicate serotonin function in delay aversion. Possible explanations of the heterosis effect in the ADHD cases are presente

The effectiveness of emergency remote learning and teaching during the covid-19 epidemic: The case of secondary vocational and technical schools in the Primorska region
Emergency remote learning and teaching (ERLT) was implemented in Slovenia to mitigate the impact of the covid-19 epidemic. The implementation of practical learning, which is specific to secondary vocational and technical schools, proved to be particularly challenging in ERLT. Because ERLT requires a rapid response to execute the adjusted learning content, it does not allow the implementation of the curriculum in the intended form. This master\u27s thesis explores the elements of successful ERLT based on the interviews with secondary vocational and technical school teachers in the Primorska region. It investigates how the teachers assess the success of ERLT and what shortcomings and opportunities they perceived during ERLT. The empirical study is based on semi-structured interviews. The sample included five teachers and a principal at secondary vocational and technical schools in the Primorska region. The data obtained from the interviews were analyzed with the qualitative thematic analysis. We found that the interviewees identified the adjustment of teaching content and knowledge assessment and the implementation of classes according to a combined model as elements of successful ERLT. With reference to the success of ERLT during the covid-19 epidemic, the interviewees reported that the transfer of knowledge was satisfactory, whereas the success of the integrated development of students was evaluated as unsatisfactory. The key problem identified by the interviewees was related to creating and maintaining the contact with students during ERLT. As an opportunity of ERLT, they mostly mentioned logistic advantages

Elektronik Danışma Hizmetleri
This paper is mainly related to digital reference services. Evaluation of these services, their difference from the traditional reference services, factors which cause their emergence, related technical and quantitative standards are presented. Additionaly, projects which are developed in this area, the importance of cooperation activities, application problems and how librarians approach to these issues are examined
Minimaxity and Admissibility of Predictive Density Estimators Under S-Hellinger Distances
In this paper, we consider the study of the efficiency of predictive density estimators of multivariate observables measured by the frequentist risk corresponding to S-Hellinger distances as a set of loss functions (for every α ∈ [0, 1]). The main themes, revolve around the inefficiency of minimum risk equivariant (MRE) predictors in high enough dimensions and about the inefficiency of plug-in estimators. We improve the plug-in for a dual point estimation loss with or without expanding the scale. A link between the S-Hellinger distances risk of plug-in type estimators and the risk under reflected normal loss for point estimation is established, bringing into play all the established literature on Stein type dominators. Further, we suggest dominant estimators with or without the presence of restrictions on the unknown mean parameter. Ultimately we prove under the new measure of goodness-of-fit dominance results under a restricted parameter space (multivariate and univariate).Key words: S-Hellinger Distances, Minimaxity, Admissibility, Stein estimation, concave loss, Predictive density estimatio
