Transcultural religious communication in the age of artificial intelligence: Ethical challenges and opportunities for global harmony
Background: The development of Artificial Intelligence has fundamentally transformed human communication patterns, including the practice of religious communication that is now taking place in a transcultural digital space. This research aims to critically examine the ethical challenges and opportunities arising from AI's involvement in cross-cultural religious communication. Previous studies have shown that AI is increasingly playing a role in facilitating interfaith dialogue and cross-border spiritual interaction, despite concerns about algorithmic bias, homogenization of spiritual meaning, and commodification of religious values. Methods: This study used a reflective qualitative method with a literature study and critical analysis approach. Data is systematically collected from the latest scientific publications, then analyzed thematically and hermeneutically to capture the complexity of transcultural religious interactions in the digital age. Finding: The results of the study show that AI, on the one hand, opens up opportunities to create spaces for inclusive, participatory, and reflective intercultural dialogue, but on the other hand poses significant ethical risks. These risks include narrowing religious interpretations due to algorithmic bias, loss of richness of local cultural meaning, and manipulation of religious narratives for the benefit of certain markets or ideologies. However, AI has great potential to become a strategic instrument in strengthening global religious harmony if developed and used based on the principles of communication ethics and transcultural awareness. This article recommends implementing strategies such as the development of algorithms that are accountable and adaptive to cultural diversity, strengthening community-based religious digital literacy, and implementing ethical audits of AI-based content. Conclusion: This study concludes that the use of AI in religious communication must be accompanied by close collaboration between technology developers, religious leaders, and academics to ensure that AI becomes a bridge of spiritual solidarity between cultures, not a source of polarization or cultural reduction. Novelty/Originality of this article: The novelty of this article lies in its comprehensive approach, which combines critical reflection on the ethical implications of AI with proposed practical strategies to encourage sustainable transcultural religious communication. This article contributes to enriching the discourse on digital ethics, cross-cultural communication, and the transformation of religiosity in an increasingly digitized global society

Konstruksi Opini Publik Terhadap Pemberitaan Covid-19 Di Amerika Serikat
This research is done with the purpose of analyzing the framing used by Fox News and CNN to frame the issue of the U.S. President, Donald Trump’s, interview with politics journalist, Bob Woodward, for his new book, “Rage, which discusses the president’s downplay on the COVID-19 pandemic. The theory used in this research are Agenda Setting theory from Maxwell McCombs-Donald Shaw, and Propaganda theory from Harold Lasswell. This research will also use the study of hermeneutics as its research model. To collect data, Robert N. Entman’s framing analysis modelwill be used. As for the result of this research, it is discovered that FoxNewsdan CNNeach uses a different set off raming to frame President Donald Trump regarding news about COVID-19 in the United States. The frame used is especially heavier on news broadcasting of the downplay issue found in the Bob Woodward interview tapes. Fox News tend to defend President Donald Trump’s act of downplay, in order to protect his image. The media also constantly credits the president’s success on handling the COVID-19 pandemic. CNN on the other hand, is keen to expose the president’s carelessness and negligence in handling the pandemic, by bringing to light the false statements he made in the interview with Bob Woodward
EMPOWERING COMMUNITIES THROUGH HYDROPONIC FARMING AS A SUSTAINABLE APPROACH TO FOOD SECURITY IN URBAN INDONESIA
Food security has become a strategic issue in urban Indonesia as agricultural land continues to shrink due to housing, infrastructure, and development projects. This condition has led to the heavy dependence of major cities, such as Jakarta, on vegetable supplies from surrounding regions. At the same time, the demand for healthy, fresh, and pesticide-free vegetables is increasing, in line with government campaigns on balanced nutrition and efforts to reduce stunting. However, previous studies have mostly focused on the technical aspects of hydroponic farming or short-term economic impacts, while research connecting hydroponics with community empowerment strategies for urban food self-sufficiency remains limited. This study employed a participatory approach through training, mentoring, and demonstration of simple hydroponic installations. Respondents were recruited using snowball sampling, involving households, neighborhood communities, schools, and universities. The findings reveal that hydroponics not only produces fresher, longer-lasting, and pesticide-free vegetables but also functions as a tool for empowerment by enhancing skills, strengthening community solidarity, and creating economic opportunities through the sale of vegetables and hydroponic installations. The study implies that hydroponics can serve as a sustainable strategy to address urban food security challenges while fostering micro-level food resilience at the household, school, and community levels
Multimodality analysis of Jokowi's Social Exchange Theory and Political Marketing to Ma'ruf Amin's infidelity at the 2019 Presidential Election Contestation
In the constellation of the 2019 presidential election, there is something very interesting. Prabowo's camp quickly announced his vice-presidential candidate but Jokowi did not immediately announce his chosen vice-presidential candidate. Even until the last moment, Jokowi let the issue of the vice-presidential candidate rolling in the community. Unexpectedly, Jokowi chose a man who was never included in consideration of public. Jokowi's choice also made several names with the initials M as stated himself that his chosen vice-presidential candidate was M. Surprisingly, he announced that his chosen vice-presidential candidate was Ma'ruf Amin, a senior cleric and Chairman of the MUI (Majelis Ulama Indonesia). The issue of Ma'ruf Amin's selection in this study focuses on social exchange theory from Richard Emerson and the concept of political marketing from Jennifer Lees, especially the MOP (Market Oriented Product) model with a qualitative multimodality approach. Data were analysed using a visual text analysis to dig deeper into Jokowi's non-verbal meaning by deciding to choose Ma'ruf Amin as a vice-presidential candidate. The data were photos of the nomination of the presidential and vice-presidential. The findings of this study are that the election of Ma'ruf Amin is the most appropriate and accurate choice to defeat Prabowo. By choosing Ma'ruf Amin, Jokowi won before competing against Prabowo. Ma'ruf is a symbol, means, and source of Jokowi's victor
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
From social media to mainstream media: Rethinking news verification in the age of artificial intelligence
Background: In Indonesia, social media platforms such as YouTube, WhatsApp, and TikTok have become dominant news sources, surpassing traditional mainstream media. However, this shift has triggered a crisis of verification, further complicated by the rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI)-generated content, including deepfakes and AI-based news production, which blurs the boundary between fact and fabrication. Methods: This study employed a qualitative approach through library research and reflective theoretical analysis, supported by documentary observations of current phenomena involving viral social media content entering mainstream media channels. Analysis was conducted thematically, critically, and contextually, synthesizing previous scholarly findings with contemporary digital media practices. Findings: The results indicate that the flow of information from social media to mainstream media has dismantled traditional gatekeeping roles, replacing them with a decentralized and algorithm-driven ecosystem. AI technologies, while enhancing efficiency, introduce epistemological challenges by generating credible but potentially inaccurate content without ethical responsibility. Furthermore, the study highlights that traditional verification mechanisms are inadequate against the speed and complexity of digital information flows. Effective information verification today requires collaborative, technology-assisted, and participatory strategies, integrating innovations such as AI-supported fact-checking tools and blockchain verification. Simultaneously, media literacy must evolve to include algorithmic awareness and critical interpretation skills. Conclusion: The crisis of information verification is not merely technical but communicative, involving shifts in authority, credibility, and ethical responsibility in the digital era. Addressing this crisis demands a systemic overhaul of verification practices through multiparty collaboration and ethical frameworks for AI communication. Novelty/Originality of this article: It offers a novel synthesis between AI-mediated communication theories and real-world media practices, proposing a redefinition of public communication that incorporates non-human actors like AI as influential communicators within digital ecosystems
