Ross-Ade
No full textDave Ross (1871-1943) and George Ade (1866-1944) were trustees, distinguished alumni and benefactors of Purdue University. Their friendship began in 1922 and led to their giving land and money for the 1924 construction of Ross-Ade Stadium, now a 70,000 seat athletic landmark on the West Lafayette campus. Their life stories date to 1883 Purdue and involve their separate student experiences and eventual fame. Their lives crossed paths with U.S. First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt, Henry Ford, Amelia Earhart, and Will Rogers among others. Gifts or ideas from Ross or Ade led to creation of the Purdue Research Foundation, Purdue Airport, Ross Hills Park, and Ross Engineering Camp. They helped Purdue Theater, the Harlequin Club and more. Ade, renowned author and playwright, did butt heads with Purdue administrators at times long ago, but remains a revered figure. Ross's ingenious mechanical inventions of gears still steer millions of motorized vehicles, boats, tractors, even golf carts the world over

Previously he served in a similar role at Willowcreek Church and prior to that was a finance manager for GE for 27 years. He has developed numerous financial seminars and classes and regularly speaks at churches and conferences around the country. Dave and his wife Debbie had two sons attend Taylor and served for three years on the Taylor Parents’ Cabinet.
J.R. Briggs wears a variety of ministry hats. On a local level, he serves as one of the pastors of The Renew Community. He is also the Founder and Director of Kairos Partnerships and Director of Leadership and Congregation Formation for the Ecclesia Network. He is a life coach, consultant, frequent speaker, and author of seven books. He and his wife Megan, along with their two sons Carter and Bennett, live in the Philadelphia area

No full textIt has been fifty-one years since the last Lambert, Hendricks & Ross studio recording. Since then Dave Lambert was tragically killed on the Connecticut Turnpike, Jon Hendricks has become a University of Toledo professor, and Annie Ross is still performing frequently worldwide. Few jazz vocalists are accepted into the scholastic canon. Fewer are filed in the annals of music history. But, if any vocalists should be regarded important to the story of jazz music it is LHR. Their impact on the art of vocalese has yet to be fully felt. In exploring the motivation behind the group’s dense, meticulous, trailblazing recordings, this study attempts to be a supplement for what was too much for liner notes in the late 50’s and 60’s, while simultaneously giving a brief encompassing historical outline.
