Sixty Years of Community: St. Olaf Catholic Parish in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, 1952-2012
This paper will explore how the parish community of St. Olaf in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, established in 1952, reflects the Roman Catholic Church, specifically at the local, state, and national levels in the United States. It will also discuss the various changes that have occurred in the past 60 years of its history in terms of the various locations of worship for the members, the growth of the community outreach programs, and the effects of the Second Vatican Council. This ecumenical council was a meeting of Catholic bishops from around the whole that brought reform to the Catholic Church and affected the relationship of the Catholic Church to the world. The parish at St. Olaf has grown from having only 125 families in 1952 to over 1,000 families in 2012
Northern Rover: The Life Story of Olaf Hanson
From 1919 to 1970, Olaf Hanson was a trapper, fur trader, prospector, game guardian, fisherman, and road blasting expert in northeastern Saskatchewan. He told his life story to popular Saskatchewan author A. L. Karras, who wrote this historical memoir in the 1980s. In an uncompromising, straightforward style, Karras and Hanson reveal the geography, wildlife, natural history of the region as well as the business and social interactions between people. Their book offers a look at the vanished subsistence and commercial economy of the boreal forest, wound around a fascinating personal story of courage and physical stamina

Analysing the performance of the OLAF framework in the context of identifying music in movies
This paper presents the findings of a benchmark performed on the audio fingerprinting framework OLAF in the context of movie music. The goal is to find a music identification framework suitable for automatically identifying a song from a movie clip. This research aims to find how well OLAF performs in this context with regard to the criteria determined in the benchmark and to see if the performance can be increased. The OLAF framework makes use of parameters, which are individually tweaked and benchmarked with synthesised data. These findings are then combined to find a set of parameters that is used to perform this same benchmark on real clips from movies. The found parameter setup slightly increased the performance, going from 1 true positive and 133 false negatives in the original setup to 5 true positives, 3 false positives and 126 false negatives.CSE3000 Research ProjectComputer Science and Engineerin
Erwin Olaf is an author dedicated to photography, videos and advertising. Through a study of this controversial photographer, we can know his life, work and technique.

The location of OLAF in the multi-level governance system
W badaniach wykorzystano dwa narzędzia teoretyczno-metodologiczne: Principal/Agent
Theory oraz Principal/Supervisor/Agent Theory. The author of the study aims to investigate the location of OLAF in the multi-level governance
system (MLG) of the European Union with specific interinstitutional consequences of
such location, assuming that OLAF is not a classical supranational institution. If OLAF as an
agent and supervisor has control powers over supranational institutions, including its principal,
a supranational European Commission, it is unlikely that it would also be a supranational institution.
Two theoretical and methodological tools were used in this research: Principal/Agent Theory
and Principal/Supervisor/Agent Theory
The German Copyright Law grants an absolute right to authors, i.e., any use of protected works requires the author's prior consent. This concept is known as opt-in. In this doctoral thesis the author examines five models which turn this concept upside down as they provide for the permission for certain beneficiaries to use protected works without the author's prior consent until the author objects to such use. This concept is known as opt-out. Also, the examined models contain elements of collectivization and, in particular, involve collecting societies. The author examines and compares these models and answers the question whether the underlying opt-out concept together with collectivization may be generalized so that it could replace opt-in
A Mixed-Method Approach for Quantifying Illegal Fishing and Its Impact on an Endangered Fish Species
Illegal harvest is recognized as a widespread problem in natural resource management. The use of multiple methods for quantifying illegal harvest has been widely recommended yet infrequently applied. We used a mixed-method approach to evaluate the extent, charac- ter, and motivations of illegal gillnet fishing in Lake Hovsgol National Park, Mongolia and its impact on the lake’s fish populations, especially that of the endangered endemic Hovsgol grayling (Thymallus nigrescens). Surveys for derelict fishing gear indicate that gillnet fishing is widespread and increasing and that fishers generally use 3–4 cm mesh gillnet. Interviews with resident herders and park rangers suggest that many residents fish for subsistence during the spring grayling spawning migration and that some residents fish commercially year-round. Interviewed herders and rangers generally agree that fish population sizes are decreasing but are divided on the causes and solutions. Biological monitoring indicates that the gillnet mesh sizes used by fishers efficiently target Hovsgol grayling. Of the five species sampled in the monitoring program, only burbot (Lota lota) showed a significant decrease in population abundance from 2009–2013. However, grayling, burbot, and roach (Rutilus ruti- lus) all showed significant declines in average body size, suggesting a negative fishing impact. Data-poor stock assessment methods suggest that the fishing effort equivalent to each resident family fishing 50-m of gillnet 11–15 nights per year would be sufficient to over- exploit the grayling population. Results from the derelict fishing gear survey and interviews suggest that this level of effort is not implausible. Overall, we demonstrate the ability for a mixed-method approach to effectively describe an illegal fishery and suggest that these methods be used to assess illegal fishing and its impacts in other protected areas.Peer reviewe
Relationship between OLAF, the future EPPO, the other European Bodies and the national judicial authorities
After having highlighted the heterogeneity still present in the various national legal systems in the field of criminal procedure, the author focuses on the relationship between OLAF, the future European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO), other European offices (Eurojust, Europol) and national judicial authorities, taking into account the pertinent articles of the Treaty of Lisbon
