Search Engine Optimization e suas contribuições para a Ciência da Informação
Objective: Demonstrate how Search Engine Optimization techniques can assist in information retrieval. Methodology: The investigation has an exploratory descriptive character, and documentary research was also carried out as a complementary step. Results: By applying the techniques, better information retrieval can be obtained, as it is necessary to apply a representation through keywords and attributes (Headings Tags, internal links and metatags, among others), which are elements of Search Engine Optimization. Conclusions: Therefore, the use of these techniques contributes to restore and represent an environment, as they provide a certain structure and organization that helps to obtain a better retrieval of documents.Objetivo: Demostrar cómo las técnicas de optimización de motores de búsqueda pueden ayudar en la recuperación de información. Metodología: La investigación tiene un carácter exploratorio descriptivo, además se realizó una investigación documental como paso complementario. Resultados: Mediante la aplicación de las técnicas se puede obtener una mejor recuperación de la información, ya que es necesario aplicar una representación a través de palabras clave y atributos (Headings Tags, enlaces internos y metatags, entre otros), que son elementos de Search Engine Optimization. Conclusiones: Por lo tanto, el uso de estas técnicas contribuye a restaurar y representar un entorno, ya que proporcionan cierta estructura y organización que ayuda a obtener una mejor recuperación de los documentos.Objetivo: Demonstrar como as técnicas de Search Engine Optimization podem auxiliar na recuperação da informação. Metodologia: A investigação possui caráter descritivo exploratório, tendo sido também realizada, como etapa complementar, uma pesquisa documental. Resultados: Ao se utilizar tais técnicas, pode-se obter uma melhor recuperação da informação, pois se faz necessário aplicar uma representação, por meio de palavras-chave e de atributos (Headings Tags, links internos e Meta Tags, entre outros), que são elementos de Search Engine Optimization. Conclusão: Portanto, o uso dessas técnicas contribui para restaurar e representar um ambiente, pois elas fornecem uma certa estrutura e organização, a qual ajuda a obter uma melhor recuperação de documentos

Introduction: In the digital era, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) techniques are essential to ensure the visibility and relevance of online content. With the exponential increase in data shared on the internet, managing the Data Life Cycle has become crucial. This study explores how each stage of the Data Life Cycle – from collection, through storage and retrieval, to data disposal – can impact the practices and effectiveness of SEO techniques. Objective: The objective is to investigate the relationship between the Data Life Cycle and SEO techniques and practices, aiming to understand how each stage of this cycle, along with the associated cross-cutting factors, allows for the analysis of the effectiveness and efficiency of search engine optimization strategies. Methodology: The study adopts a descriptive methodological approach focused on SEO, discussing data access by optimization experts within the context of search engines. Results: The results present the connections between the phases of collection, storage, retrieval, and disposal through the cross-cutting factors present in all phases of the Data Life Cycle with SEO techniques. Conclusion: Finally, the strategic integration of the Data Life Cycle and SEO techniques is essential for successfully navigating the digital environment. By considering each phase of the Data Life Cycle through the lens of Search Engine Optimization, organizations can not only improve their online presence but also ensure that their content is valuable, accessible, and compliant with ethical and legal expectations.Introdução: Na era digital, as técnicas de Search Engine Optimization são fundamentais para garantir a visibilidade e a relevância do conteúdo online. Com o aumento exponencial de dados e compartilhados na internet, a gestão do Ciclo de Vida dos Dados torna-se crucial. Este estudo explora como cada etapa do Ciclo de Vida dos Dados – desde a coleta, passando pelo armazenamento e recuperação, até o descarte dos dados – pode impactar as práticas e a eficácia das técnicas de SEO. Objetivo: Investigar a relação do Ciclo de Vida dos Dados com as técnicas e práticas de SEO, visando compreender como cada etapa desse ciclo, bem como os fatores transversais associados, permitem analisar a eficácia e eficiência das estratégias de otimização para mecanismos de busca. Metodologia: Possui uma abordagem metodológica descritiva centrada em SEO, discutindo o acesso a dados por especialistas de otimização no cenário dos mecanismos de busca. Resultados: Como resultado apresentam-se as conexões das fases de coleta, armazenamento, recuperação e descarte, por meio dos fatores transversais presentes em todas as fases do Ciclo de vida dos dados com as técnicas de Search Engine Optimization. Conclusão: Por fim, a união estratégica do CVD e das técnicas de SEO é essencial para navegar com sucesso no ambiente digital. Ao considerar cada fase do Ciclo de Vida dos Dados através da lente do Search Engine Optimization, as organizações podem não apenas melhorar sua presença online, mas também assegurar que seu conteúdo seja valioso, acessível e em conformidade com as expectativas éticas e legais
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
Metadados estruturados e search engine optimization: contribuições para a encontrabilidade da informação e a experiência dos usuários
The growing prominence of digital information drives the relevance of content organization, visibility, and accessibility. This article aims to discuss how structured metadata influences information findability and user experience in digital environments optimized by Search Engine Optimization techniques, based on the fundamentals of Information Science. To this end, a theoretical and exploratory approach was adopted, based on a literature review and snowballing techniques. The results, analyzed through thematic categorization, reveal that structured metadata acts as a mediator between content, search engines, and users. Its strategic application, aligned with Search Engine Optimization techniques, optimizes algorithmic readability and the efficiency of information retrieval, enriching the user experience. The research highlights the interdisciplinary nature of the topic and the importance of approaches that combine the principles of Information Science with the technical requirements of the web, highlighting the role of these metadata as sociotechnical devices that contribute to a more accessible and relevant digital environment.A crescente proeminência da informação digital impulsiona a relevância da organização, visibilidade e acessibilidade de conteúdo. Este artigo tem como objetivo geral discutir como os metadados estruturados influenciam a encontrabilidade da informação e a experiência do usuário em ambientes digitais otimizados por técnicas de Search Engine Optimization, à luz dos fundamentos da Ciência da Informação. Para tal, adotou-se uma abordagem teórica e exploratória, baseada em revisão bibliográfica e técnica de snowballing. Os resultados, analisados por meio de categorização temática, revelam que os metadados estruturados atuam como elementos na mediação entre conteúdo, mecanismos de busca e usuários. Observa-se que sua aplicação estratégica, alinhada às técnicas de Search Engine Optimization, otimiza a legibilidade algorítmica e a eficiência da recuperação informacional, enriquecendo a experiência do usuário. A pesquisa destaca a natureza interdisciplinar do tema e a importância de abordagens que conjuguem os princípios da Ciência da Informação com os requisitos técnicos da web, ressaltando o papel desses metadados como dispositivos sociotécnicos que contribuem para um ambiente digital mais acessíveis e relevantes
