Diagnostic analysis of RO desalting treated waste water
Diagnostic analysis of reverse osmosis membranes that were fed with Western treatment plant (WTP) recycled
water was investigated by both thermodynamic calculations and laboratory experiments in order to predict the
feasibility of RO desalting for WTP. The thermodynamic calculations suggested that RO recoveries of 80–85% were
feasible with careful control of feed water pH and the use of chemical additives such as antiscalants and chelating
agents, it also predicted the major minerals of concern to be silica, calcium fluoride, calcium carbonate, and calcium
phosphate. Following the thermodynamic simulations, diagnostic laboratory experiments were undertaken. The
experiments showed that the major contributor to scale formation was indeed calcium phosphate and possibly another
calcium based compound, which was strongly suspected to be calcium carbonate. Based on previously published
literature that indicated anti-scalants did not substantially decrease the scaling effect of calcium phosphate and laboratory tests that indicated controlling the pH to 6.4 in the feed water dramatically reduced scaling formation, it was suggested that the feed water could be controlled by pH adjustments only. Inter-stage pH correction was suggested as an optional technique to enhance the overall water recovery to above 95%
RO-Crate Metadata Specification 1.1.1
This document specifies a method, known as RO-Crate (Research Object Crate), of aggregating and describing research data with associated metadata. RO-Crates can aggregate and describe any resource including files, URI-addressable resources, or use other addressing schemes to locate digital or physical data. RO-Crates can describe data in aggregate and at the individual resource level, with metadata to aid in discovery, re-use and long term management of data. Metadata includes the ability to describe the context of data and the entities involved in its production, use and reuse. For example: who created it, using which equipment, software and workflows, under what licenses can it be re-used, where was it collected, and/or where is it about.RO-Crate uses JSON-LD to to express this metadata using linked data, describing data resources as well as contextual entities such as people, organizations, software and equipment as a series of linked JSON-LD objects - using common published vocabularies, chiefly schema.org.The core of RO-Crate is a JSON-LD file, the RO-Crate Metadata File, named ro-crate-metadata.json. This file contains structured metadata about the dataset as a whole (the Root Data Entity) and, optionally, about some or all of its files. В статті досліджено вплив хімічного складу та структури модельних стекол в системі R₂O–RO–RO₂–R₂O₃–P₂O₅–SiO₂ на їх водостійкість. Визначено, що найвищою водостійкістю характеризуються опалесцентні та склокристалічні модельні стекла, при втраті маси зразку від 0,08-0,1 %, найнижчою – гомогенні стекла, при втраті маси зразку 0,2 %.In article influence of a chemical composition and structure of modelling glasses in system R₂O–RO–RO₂–R₂O₃–P₂O₅–SiO₂ on their water resistance is investigated. It is defined, that by the highest water resistance are characterised opacity and galss ceramic modelling glasses, at loss of weight of the sample of 0,08-0,1 %. CO ro-vibrational lines in HD 100546 A search for disc asymmetries and the role of fluorescence

We have studied the emission of CO ro-vibrational lines in the disc around the Herbig Be star HD 100546 to determine physical properties, disc asymmetries, the CO excitation mechanism, and the spatial extent of the emission, with the final goal of using the CO ro-vibrational lines as a diagnostic to understand inner disc structure in the context of planet formation. Methods. High-spectral-resolution infrared spectra of CO ro-vibrational emission at eight different position angles were taken with the CRyogenic high-resolution InfraRed Echelle Spectrograph (CRIRES) at the Very Large Telescope (VLT). From these spectra flux tables, line profiles for individual CO ro-vibrational transitions, co-added line profiles, and population diagrams were produced. We have investigated variations in the line profile shapes and line strengths as a function of slit position angle. We used the thermo-chemical disc modelling code ProDiMo based on the chemistry, radiation field, and temperature structure of a previously published model for HD 100546. We calculated line fluxes and profiles for the whole set of observed CO ro-vibrational transitions using a large CO model molecule that includes the lowest two electronic states, each with 7 vibrational levels and within them 60 rotational levels. Comparing observations and the model, we investigated the possibility of disc asymmetries, the excitation mechanism (UV fluorescence), the geometry, and physical conditions of the inner disc. Results. The observed CO ro-vibrational lines are largely emitted from the inner rim of the outer disc at 10-13 AU. The line shapes are similar for all v levels and line fluxes from all vibrational levels vary only within one order of magnitude. All line profile asymmetries and variations can be explained with a symmetric disc model to which a slit correction and pointing offset is applied. Because the angular size of the CO emitting region (10-13 AU) and the slit width are comparable the line profiles are very sensitive to the placing of the slit. The model reproduces the line shapes and the fluxes of the v = 1-0 lines as well as the spatial extent of the CO ro-vibrational emission. It does not reproduce the observed band ratios of 0.5-0.2 with higher vibrational bands. We find that lower gas volume densities at the surface of the inner rim of the outer disc can make the fluorescence pumping more efficient and reproduce the observed band ratios.Peer reviewe
Produção e custos de produção de arroz de sequeiro para o sistema integração Lavoura-Pecuária-Floresta em Vilhena-RO.
RESUMO: Este trabalho teve o objetivo de avaliar a produção e custos de produção de arroz de sequeiro, no sistema Integração Lavoura-Pecuária-Floresta (ILPF), para a região de cerrado de Rondônia, especificamente para o município de Vilhena-RO. Foi utilizada a cultivar de arroz BRS Sertaneja, em sequeiro, no Campo Experimental da Embrapa Rondônia, em Vilhena, na safra 2008/09. A produtividade obtida foi de 3.216 kg.ha-1 e as estimativas dos custos de produção foram de R 1.527,38 para o custo variável e de R 569.29 for the fixed cost, R2,096.68 for the total cost. This yield is higher than the state average, but still insufficient to cover the total production cost. The yield to cover the production costs of rice in the rondonian savanna was 923 kg.ha-1 for the fixed cost, 2,477 kg.ha-1 to the variable cost, and 3,400 kg.ha-1 for the total cost. As the threshold level (3,400 kg.ha-1) is greater than the yield obtained, the activity shows no return, because it doesn’t pay all the production factors

A produtividade para cobrir os custos de produção de arroz, no cerrado rondoniense, foi 923 kg.ha¹ para o custo fixo, 2.477 kg.ha¹ para o custo variável e 3.400 kg.ha¹ para o custo total. Como o ponto de equilíbrio (3.400 kg.ha¹l) foi maior que a produtividade obtida, a atividade não remunerou todos os fatores de produção não apresentando lucro

Produção e custo de produção de soja no sistema Integração Lavoura-Pecuária-Floresta em Vilhena-RO.
RESUMO: Este trabalho teve o objetivo de avaliar a produção e os custos de produção de soja, no sistema Integração Lavoura-Pecuária-Floresta (ILPF), para a região de cerrado de Rondônia, especificamente para o município de Vilhena. Foi utilizada a cultivar de soja BRS Valiosa RR, semeada no Campo Experimental da Embrapa Rondônia, em Vilhena, na safra 2008/09. A produtividade obtida foi de 3.666 kg.ha-1, superior à média estadual, e as estimativas dos custos de produção foram de R1.419,40 para o custo variável e de R580.09 for the fixed cost, R1,999.49 for the total cost in Vilhena. The yield to cover the production costs of soybean in the rondonian savanna is 954 kg.ha-1 for the fixed cost, 2,333 kg.ha-1 to the variable cost, and 3,287 kg.ha-1 for the total cost. As the threshold level (3,287 kg.ha-1) was lower than the yield obtained, the soy production paid all the production factors and generated profit
