Breaking The Chains: Baby Kamble\u27s Struggle Against Poverty, Untouchability, And Dalit Patriarchy In The Prisons We Broke

    No full text
Dalit Literature has emerged as a prominent genre within the literary landscape of India. The hard reality faced by the marginalised and "voiceless" Dalit population is examined and internalised. The objective of this study is to provide a contextual analysis of the physical and psychological violence experienced by Dalit women, examining its occurrence in both public and private domains. Baby Kamble is recognised as a prominent figure among Dalit writers, and her autobiography titled "The Prison We Broke" gained significant recognition and acceptance within academic circles. This paper additionally addresses the concerns surrounding the marginalisation experienced by Dalit women, as exemplified in the autobiography of Baby Kamble. The work produced by the individual in question is a manifestation of the concept of double consciousness, which explores the manner in which Dalit women have been subjected to mistreatment and the roles they have assumed within their respective social contexts. The focus of Baby Kamble\u27s engagement lies within the historical context of Dalit persecution. The author does not romanticise the existence of the Dalit community; instead, she explicitly expresses her objective to subject the circumstances of her community to meticulous examination. Her aim is to illustrate how the dominance of the Brahmanical system had reduced the Mahars to a state of servitude, compelling them to endure living conditions that were even more deplorable than those of animals. This essay undertakes an analysis of the author\u27s portrayal of the visual documentation depicting the lives of the Mahars throughout the course of the last five decades in Western Maharashtra

    No full text
Today, the world is continuously looking forward towards sustainable solutions for building construction, thus the interest and the need for sustainability is continuously growing. With growing issues related to the environment and sustainability, Bamboo being one of the answers is one such sustainable material that has a lot of potentials to be used as a building material. This graduation research is a little step towards uplifting the material, improvising and changing the current perception of bamboo in the building construction sector by evaluating possibilities of using an engineered form of bamboo in a structural application. Today, bamboo is developed up to a level where it is structurally modified for improved strength, durability and performance. This research focuses on using this advanced form of Bamboo to develop a method of construction to build a housing prototype and investigate into connection techniques to construct the same using these materials. The connection design is inspired by Japanese interlocking joinery, with an aim to avoid the use of external fasteners to connect the joinery. This semi-permanent prefabricated interlocking approach allows for future flexibility. The research also establishes and evaluates criteria as a design rule for efficient joinery connections. The joinery design is validated by physical prototyping, testing and software validation of the proposed joinery design configuration. The project strives to gain validation for the potential of using bamboo is a structural application.Architecture, Urbanism and Building Sciences | Building Technology | Sustainable Desig

This research thesis has explored the main and the basic factors behind trust development in value chain of the logistics firm DHL that works together with the partner firm on trust factor and their process of work in the value chain. Michael Porter (1985) provided a very clear definition to the concept of value chain. To provide a better understanding of the concept the author emphasised the two dimensions of value chain: Primary and secondary activities. The performance of these activities requires the intervention of many different actors both internal and external to the company. Therefore, there must be a certain level of trust between the company and other actors playing a role in its value chain

Factors affecting the purchase intentions of the consumer towards Private Labels: A role of National Brands in shaping the consumers’ buying intentions.

    No full text
Private labels have been competing national brands which already are successful in creating an image for themselves. These brands knowingly or unknowingly may have the authority to overshadow the Private Labels in terms of price, consumer loyalty and providing adequate knowledge about the brand to the consumers. Private Labels have been known for their quality, durability and their reduced prices and yet do not have the necessary exposure. With the competition intensifying, the private labels have still made up a world for their own and survived on the store marketing strategies. Private Labels are the brands owned by the retailers and distributed only at store level. Due to the lack in advertising, these private labels do not reach the consumers outside the store and are stuck with selective distribution channels. And with the growing competition, the national brands are an easy option for the consumers. How the already successful companies have taken branding to a level where the quality or reliability is questioned but the sales do not change because of the successful brand creation. The main barrier faced by the Private labels is the low level of advertising as compared to the heavy advertising of the National Brands and the selective distribution channel due to lack of consumer knowledge about the brand and whether spanning out their distribution would be beneficial for the Private Labels as they are only advertised in the retailer’s store. The author will present data about companies who produce their own private labels but do not receive any recognition. This research will concentrate on how the private labels have been working their way up in the past and how the future of the world will be the Private labels which will be a cutthroat competition to the brands. This research will further explain what is necessary for the private labels to survive in this competition with the brands (Majorly marketing usage and word-of-mouth). A literature review is carried out for the purpose of establishing the proposed results and analysing consumer behaviour in both theory and in practice, the selection of preferences by the masses. A literature review will be crucial in finding out proof for the said hypothesis. This study sheds light on the factors which influence why the consumers choose private labels and which of those factors are a boon or bane for the said private labels. In order to attain a clear perspective, the author has used secondary data to grasp the literature and after obtaining further insights has created a survey questionnaire to prove the hypothesis. The author has tried understanding the private labels, its importance to the retailers, the factors which might influence the purchase intentions of Private labels. There will be a set of research questions which the thesis will aim to answer, and the preferred methodology is a quantitative research to understand the consumers perceptions of Private Labels and how marketing strategies have affected their buying behaviour. This survey will showcase what the Private Labels lack to reach the masses. Primary as well as Secondary data collection methods will be used. Primary will include surveys to understand the consumer perceptions of the Private Labels and Secondary will include research papers and Statistics. A detailed Methodology structure is mentioned in the Methodology Section of this paper

Uncovering and recovering the popular romance novel

University of Minnesota Ph.D. dissertation. December 2008. Major: English. Advisor: Dr. Timothy Brennan. 1 computer file (PDF); v, 373 pages, appendix.Popular romance novels are a twentieth- and twenty-first century literary form defined by a material association with pulp publishing, a conceptual one with courtship narrative, and a brand association with particular author-publisher combinations. The theme of romantic love in romance novels forms the basis of a drama involving the extra-private worlds of the protagonists (financial, civic, and familial). The framework of the romantic relationship allows the genre to study the challenges these spheres face over the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. A comprehensive look at the genre's history and diversity, as well as its reception in different readership communities, undergirds this analysis of three tropes involving the romance hero--capitalist, soldier, and heterosexual. The analysis proves the genre's struggle with an economic, political, and social ideology that has gathered force over the last hundred years. Though popular as well as academic critiques of the genre disparage its formulaic sexual content or its attachment to the ideology of middle class morality, its very nature as "commodity literature" helps challenge conservative thought on capitalism, national defense strategies, and sexual orientation. The dissertation also considers the impact of the dust jackets and paperback covers of romance novels on non-romance readers. A survey of this material history suggests that it has contributed to derogatory opinions on the genre; in particular, the genre has been indicted because of the "bodice-ripper" covers that adorn many romance novels rather than for the actual content. A look at reader and author discussions on the genre, alongside textual analysis of selected works, proves that romance fiction is not fixated on a clichéd plot and descriptions of sexual intercourse; it involves complex themes that are disguised as stereotypical genre elements. Readers' online debates demonstrate how this romance "formula," albeit a function of the genre's commodification, engages them in addressing quandaries related to societal preoccupations. The concluding study of romance reading in India further supports the possibility of multiple, even liberating, readings that can empower romance readers.Kamble, Jayashree. (2008). Use of Dual-Task Balance Training among Athletes for Better Performance

    Get PDF
Dual tasking refers to the process of performing more than two tasks at the same time. Dual task training among athletes provides an opportunity to develop the ability to do more than one thing simultaneously. The risk of failure can also be avoided by following this process. However, dual-task assessments can be frequently completed for determining cognitive performance in relation to musculoskeletal injury and concussion risks. Many athletes went through dual task balance training to enhance their performance. Thus, embracing the performance of an individual is possible through adopting the strategy of dual task balance training sessions. For completing this study, secondary qualitative data has been collected by the researcher. Data that are already available in online books, articles and journals are accessed by the researcher in order to complete this study effectively. Ethical norms are followed properly while including data and completing this study. Moreover, the findings of this study represent that DT (Dual Task) develops the coordination between 2 or multiple tasks. Hence, performance in various settings can be improved through taking proper training sessions. Individual tasks can be improved by attending this training session. DT helps in developing the functional capacity as well as cognition capability of an individual. The findings of this study concluded that dual task balancing training is crucial for improving the performance of an athlete. Hence, training sessions are important to be taken by young athletes in order to manage more than one task at a time
