Offline signature verification system: a novel technique of fusion of GLCM and geometric features using SVM
In the area of digital biometric systems, the handwritten signature plays a key role in the authentication of a person based on their original samples. In offline signature verification (OSV), several problems exist that are challenging for verification of authentic or forgery signature by the digital system. Correct signature verification improves the security of people, systems, and services. It is applied to uniquely identify an individual based on the motion of pen as up and down, signature speed, and shape of a loop. In this work, the multi-level features fusion and optimal features selection based automatic technique is proposed for OSV. For this purpose, twenty-two Gray Level Co-occurrences Matrix (GLCM) and eight geometric features are calculated from pre-processing signature samples. These features are fused by a new parallel approach which is based on a high-priority index feature (HPFI). A skewness-kurtosis based features selection approach is also proposed name skewness-kurtosis controlled PCA (SKcPCA) and selects the optimal features for final classification into forged and genuine signatures. MCYT, GPDS synthetic, and CEDAR datasets are utilized for validation of the proposed system and show enhancement in terms of Far and FRR as compared to existing methods
Isolation and Characterization of Limonoids from Kigelia africana
Two new limonoids, 1-O-deacetyl-2α-methoxykhayanolide (1) and kigelianolide (2), together with deacetylkhayanolide E (3), 1-O-deacetyl- 2α-hydroxykhayanolide E (4) and khayanolide B (5) were isolated from the ethyl acetate-soluble fraction of the methanolic extract of Kigelia africana. The structures of these limonoids (1-5) were elucidated by the combination of 1D (1H and 13C NMR) and 2D (HMQC, HMBC and COSY) NMR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry (EIMS, HREIMS), and in comparison with literature data of related compounds. The structure of compound 1 was further confirmed by X-ray crystallography, and the absolute stereochemistry of compounds 1 and 2 was determined by electronic circular dichroism (ECD) spectroscopy. Limonoids 1-5 showed weak inhibitory activities against the enzymes acetylcholinesterase (AChE), butyrycholinesterase (BChE) and lipoxygenase (LOX) in a concentration-dependent manner with IC50 values in the ranges 137.5 -225.2 μM for AChE, 185.4 -241.5 μM for BChE and 281.2 -189.6 μM for LOX

Crude Protein Degradation Kinetics of Selected Tropical Forages in Buffalo Using NorFor In Situ Standards
This study aimed to evaluate the crude protein (CP) degradation kinetics and
degradability (CPD) of cereal and legume fodder species grown at two geographically
distant locations. Ten forage species, comprising six cereals (barley, maize, millet, oats,
sorghum, and wheat) and four legumes (berseem, jantar, lucerne, and mustard), were
evaluated to determine the effects of forage family, species, and location of growth on CP
degradation fractions and effective CPD. The forage crops were cultivated under uniform
agronomic practices at two distinct agro-ecological locations and were harvested at the
booting stage (cereals) and 50% flowering stage (legumes). Dried and ground samples
were incubated in the rumen of four Nili-Ravi buffalo fitted with rumen cannula. The
incubation periods utilized in the experiment were 0, 4, 8, 16, 24, and 48 h, and a 4 × 2 × 2
split-plot design was employed. The results showed that the CP degradation fractions
and CPD were significantly affected by forage family, species, and location of growth.
Wide variations in degradation kinetics and degradability existed among and within the
cereal and legume fodders, with wheat and jantar ranked at the top. Legume forages had larger soluble fractions, smaller potentially degradable fractions, and rapid rates and extent
of degradation of dietary proteins than cereal forages. The cooler climatic conditions at
location 2 increased the rapidly degradable protein fraction and overall CPD, whereas
the warmer climatic conditions enhanced the slowly degradable protein fractions, thereby
reducing the overall protein degradability in tropical forages. It was quite evident that
some fodder species, such as maize among the cereal fodders and mustard among the
legume fodders, remained quite non-responsive to the effects of the climatic conditions.
Amoderately positive and linear relationship between the rate of degradation and CPD
was established for cereals, whereas a strongly positive and quadratic relationship was
established for legume fodders. In conclusion, forage species, family, and location of growth
significantly affected the degradation fractions and degradability of tropical cereal and
legume fodders
Writer Identification Using Microblogging Texts for Social Media Forensics
Establishing authorship of online texts is fundamental to combat cybercrimes. Unfortunately, text length is limited on some platforms, making the challenge harder. We aim at identifying the authorship of Twitter messages limited to 140 characters. We evaluate popular stylometric features, widely used in literary analysis, and specific Twitter features like URLs, hashtags, replies or quotes. We use two databases with 93 and 3957 authors, respectively. We test varying sized author sets and varying amounts of training/test texts per author. Performance is further improved by feature combination via automatic selection. With a large amount of training Tweets (>500), a good accuracy (Rank-5>80%) is achievable with only a few dozens of test Tweets, even with several thousands of authors. With smaller sample sizes (10-20 training Tweets), the search space can be diminished by 9-15% while keeping a high chance that the correct author is retrieved among the candidates. In such cases, automatic attribution can provide significant time savings to experts in suspect search. For completeness, we report verification results. With few training/test Tweets, the EER is above 20-25%, which is reduced to < 15% if hundreds of training Tweets are available. Transformational, Transactional Leadership and Rational Decision Making in Services Providing Organizations: Moderating Role of Knowledge Management Processes
The study is based on moderating role of knowledge management processes in the relationship between transformational, transactional leadership and rational decision making in services providing organizations. The study also examined the effect of transformational leadership and knowledge management processes on the predication of rational decision making. Information from services providing organizations including banks, hospitals, and universities is collected through Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire, Knowledge Management Process Scale and General Decision Making Styles Questionnaire. A purposive sample of 1200 employees participated in the present study. Moderated Regression analysis confirmed that transformational, transactional leadership and knowledge management processes positively predicted rational decision making. Finally, knowledge management processes moderated between transformational, transactional leadership and rational decision making
