Insel-Bücherei Nr. 272
This Insel-book from 1980 offers an opportunity for comparison with the Insel Verlag publication of the same number from the 1930's or just earlier. I have it listed under 1933?. I note the following changes. The covers are still patterned boards, but the geometric pattern has changed, as has the color-combination from maroon and blue to yellow and brown. The earlier version claimed forty-nine woodcuts. This version correctly claims fifty-one. That volume numbered its fables and gave their titles and texts in Gothic script. This version has the fables unnumbered and their texts in Roman script. The texts remain Victor Zobel's reworking of Steinhöwel. A T of C is added at the end. The printing of the Solis woodcuts is darker and sometimes clearer here. The original copyright listed in both versions is 1914. As I mentioned there, this is a lovely thin book. It is especially valuable for the many good Solis illustrations. Maybe among the best are the illustrations for Vom dem Pferd und Hirsch (32) and Vom Fuchs und dem Bock (48). This is an unusual fable book in that it has almost nothing besides the fables and their illustrations. The only addition consists in a few sentences on 56 about Steinhöwel and Solis. This is a hardbound book (hard cover)Language note: GermanFünfte AuflageNach Steinhöwels Erneuertem Esopus ausgewählt und bearbeitet von Victor Zobe

The electronic structure calculations were done using the M062X hybrid exchange-correlation functional in conjunction with the 6-31G** basis sets for oxygen and hydrogen. For the iodine and samarium atoms the Stuttgart Koln relativistic effective core potentials were utilized with their associated valence basis sets. Starting from the optimized geometry of SmI2 embeded in the microsolvation environment, we find a swift substitution of the iodine ions by eight tightly bound water molecules around Sm(II). Through the Sm-O radial distribution function and the evolution of the Sm-O distances, the present study predicts a first rigid Sm(II) solvation shell from 2.6,to 3.4 (A) over circle, whose integration leads to a coordination number of 8.4 water molecules, and a second softer solvation sphere from 3.5 to ca. 6 (A) over circle. The Sm(II)-O radial distribution function is in excellent agreement with that reported for Sr2+ from:EXATS studies, a fact that can be explained because Sr2+ and Sm2+ have almost identical ionic radii (ca. 1.26 (A) over circle) and coordination numbers: 8 for Sr2+ and 8.4 for Sm2+. The theoretical EXAFS spectrum was obtained from the BOMD trajectory and is discussed in the light ofthe experimental spectra for Sm(III). Once microsolvation is achieved, no water exchange events were found to occur around Sm2+, in agreement with the experimental data for Eu2+ (which has a nearly identical charge-to-ionic radius relation as Sm2+),-where the mean residence time of a water molecule in [Eu(H2O)(8)](2+) is known to be ca. 230 ps

Modeling of sorption enhanced steam methane reforming in an adiabatic packed bed reactor using various CO₂ sorbents
A 1-D heterogeneous model of sorption-enhanced steam methane reforming (SE-SMR) process in a packed bed reactor consisting of nickel catalyst well mixed with CO₂ sorbent particles is investigated for three types of common sorbents. The performance of SE-SMR process is studied under low medium pressure conditions (3 – 11 bar) to find the optimum operating conditions. Optimal CaO sorption corresponding to 82% CH₄ conversion and 85% H₂ purity is found at 900 K, 3 bar, 3.5 kgm⁻²s⁻¹ and S/C of 3.0. In contrast, lithium zirconate (LZC) and hydrotalcite (HTC) sorbents exhibited best sorptions under the operating conditions of 773 K, 5 bar and S/C of 3 with CH₄ conversion of 91.3% and 55.2%, and H₂ purity of 94.1% and 77.8% respectively. In these conditions, the CH₄ conversion increased by 114%, 111% and 67% compared to the conventional SMR for the processes enhanced by HTC, LZC and CaO sorption respectively
