Vulva-genda: Exploration of brand opportunity spaces and concept product for Yoni for The Young
For an incredibly long time, what exactly happens between the legs of female-sex people has been a great mystery. It‘s not common to talk about our vulvas and how we feel about them in detailed and specific terms - and yes it‘s vulva and not vagina, the vulva is the entire external genital area, the vagina is merely the internal muscle canal. It‘s so unusual that many women lack the vocabulary to describe their genitals and the education that‘s practised in the school system is sporadic and often only focused on reproduction. And the vagina is by no means the star of the show and definitely not the female equivalent of the penis. This is the clitoris, which is by no means just a little (apparently difficult to find) knob above the vaginal opening, but is a large and complex organ located beneath the skin‘s surface. A more or less fun fact, for example, is that it was not until 1998 that the complete anatomy of the clitoris was revealed in a study by the Australian urologist Helen O‘Connell (Fyfe, 2018). In fact, most anatomical books don‘t even show the clitoris and therefore not depicting the vulva correctly. Let that sink in.Conversations about sexuality, well-being or pleasure find no place and lead to misconceptions, rumours and often leave people wondering „Am I normal?“. This thesis aims to answer the question “How might a concept car look like for Yoni” as means of process and deliverable exploration for The Young. In essence this thesis is about the world and future of vulvas and which role Yoni could play to ultimately facilitate positive change in people’s lives. To explore this notion the method of developing a “concept car” was used to deliver a tangible representation of this future brand scenario. And because the social climate is changing and brands are increasingly acting as amplifiers of cultural trends and the introduction of questions and topics into the mainstream of society. At this point Yoni joins the conversation. Yoni has been offering organic 100% cotton period products since 2015 after the founder found that the products recommended to her by her gynaecologist were not only unavailable to the majority of consumers but regular period products did not list their ingredients and were full of synthetic fibres. That‘s why Yoni made it its mission to offer better products, products one would trust to touch their most intimate body part. Yoni wanted to change the market for more transparency and a higher standard of menstrual products and has achieved this, especially in recent years. Big brands are now also offering organic alternatives, explaining the ingredients of their products on the packaging or at least online and other brands have followed Yoni‘s lead. But with the constant fulfilment of the initial mission, it is time to find a new drive, a new vision. And the time is ripe to do so, people are excited and ready to overcome their inhibitions and have meaningful conversations about their vulvas, and are eager for opportunities to learn. And the market is not yet oversaturated with offerings. To answer the question of what exactly happens in the world of the vulva, this work started with in-depth research both in an interview study and in extensive literature and media research. It was about exploring the behaviour, feelings, culture, history and economy regarding vulvas and menstruation. The market, consumer and context research resulted in four distinct directions Yoni could follow in the future to have a positive impact on their users‘ lives. These directions were about pushing the menstruation conversation in society further, for more social justice, to build strong communities of people with vulvas to overcome gaps of knowledge and wisdom, to unlock knowledge about hormonal cycles beyond the binary view of period on-period off and finally to discover how to bring vulva care to the forefront of people’s attention to share knowledge, facilitate experiences and overcome bodily shame. In close collaboration with Yoni one direction was chosen as the means for Yoni to facilitate meaningful positive impact in the lives of their users and subsequently use this direction as a vehicle for organisational transformation and future vision. This direction is called “vulva care” and targets the redefinition of what true vulva care might mean on a time axis of 1 to 5 years. At the end of this axis stands the concept product of vulvovaginal microbiome testing and personalised vulvar care products which acts as a beacon for creative brand development. To make this concept product more accessible from an organisational point of view, the product was contextualised in a three step roadmap showcasing three distinct steps on how the company might develop for their current offering and structure towards a focus on vulvovaginal care using digital and care products infused with science and technology to ultimately future-proof a brand with incredible potential. At the final pages of the report you will find the translation of this concept product into a website and digital product prototype illustrating how Yoni’s brand future might look like.Strategic Product Desig
¿Memoria oficial o literatura testimonial? El libro “Comuna 13 de Medellín, El Drama del Conflicto Armado” del policía Yoni Alexander Rendón Rendón
The article analyzes the book "Comuna 13 de Medellín. El Drama del Conflicto Armado" published by Yoni Alexander Rendón Rendón Rendón, in 2007 when the author was a patrolman of the National Police, in one of the most violent areas of Colombia: the popular neighborhoods of Medellín. The book was analyzed in its textual and extratextual dimensions, which allowed it to be classified in the testimonial genre and in some of the discursive universes on the urban conflict, which explains its successful insertion in the disputes about the truth of what happened in Comuna 13 in October 2002 in the Orion Operation.El artículo analiza el libro “Comuna 13 de Medellín. Cellular processes under mechanical stress: Designing an in vitro model for testing burn splinting strategies
Introduction. To prevent burns from scar formation and contraction, the use of splinting therapy in the early phase of wound healing is considered as an effective non-surgical method. Splinting entails the application of a mechanical load in the opposite direction of the contractile force within the wound, based on the assumption that wound- or scar contraction will be prevented or reduced. However, clinical research provides conflicting evidence on its effectiveness and optimal treatment method. Therefore, the aim of this study was to design an in vitro model to investigate the mechanoresponsive cellular effects of stress on specifically Human Eschar Fibroblasts and their extracellular matrix, in order to confirm or disprove effects of burn splinting. Methods. The two major players of the burn wound model include (1) the fibroblasts, and (2) the novel extracellular matrix they produce. Outcome measures were chosen that directly relate to matrix organization, fibroblast functioning and matrix functioning. Three chronological sub-goals were defined to achieve the goal of designing a burn wound splinting model: (1) Formulating a suitable mechanical stress protocol; (2) Select a system that enables the selected mechanical stress of extensible substrates that facilitate the growth of fibroblasts and their derived extracellular matrix; (3) Create and optimize conditions to culture fibroblasts on an extensible substrate. To successfully reach these goals, the current literature on this subject was evaluated and comparative experiments were executed. Feasibility of the model was tested in a pilot study. Results. The MCB1 stretching apparatus was provided by Association of Dutch Burn Centre as a suitable device, which was modified to fulfill all predefined requirements. Human Eschar fibroblasts and dermal fibroblasts were cultured on custom made silicone culture wells. Cross-linked gelatin-A coating and vitamin C-supplemented culture medium were selected for optimal cell culturing results. A clinically relevant stretching regimen was chosen, given the paucity of available evidence in literature. A pilot study to test the feasibility of the model indicated that both dynamic and static stretching of eschar fibroblasts show a trend towards thicker, denser collagen matrices compared to unstretched conditions. These collagen fibers also showed a greater degree of alignment. However, no definitive conclusions can be drawn since sample size is limited. Conclusion. The model presented in this work constitutes a practical framework to test mechanotransducive processes in burn scars on a cellular and molecular level. A pilot study using this model showed excellent feasibilityBiomedical Engineerin
A Mongol Princess Makinghajj: The Biography of El Qutlugh Daughter of Abagha Ilkhan (r. 1265–82)
AbstractThis study examines in detail the biographical entry of an Ilkhanid (the Mongol state centred in Iran) princess, El Qutlugh Khatun daughter of Abagha Ilkhan (r. 1265–82), in the biographical dictionaries of the Mamluk author Khalīl ibn Aybeg al-Ṣafadī (d. 1363). Al-Ṣafadī‘s biography of the lady provides a rare glance into the life of women of the Mongol royal household during the transitional period which followed the Ilkhanid conversion to Islam. It sheds light on issues such as the relations between the Mamluks and the Ilkhans in light of the latter's conversion to Islam and the influence of the process of Islamization on traditional Mongolian gender related practices. This paper also discusses the motivation of the Mamluk author in including El Qutlugh's unusual story in his biographical dictionaries showing how his choices might have been influenced not only by his own interests but also by what appealed to his readers.</jats:p

Tofu is made of soybean. Tofu is one of the protein sources needed by our body. During the process of making tofu is produced waste materials (waste) both with a solid texture or liquid. Solid texture waste is usually sell very cheap for livestock feed, whereas liquid waste is thrown away with other domestic wastes every day. The liquid waste volume was increasing daily. People was produce tofu everyday so it is definitely waste formed daily that is dis-charged to the environment. It is feared can further pollute the environment. The purpose of this community service is to utilize the tofu waste as the raw material for soy sauce in an effort to overcome environmental pollution by tofu industry waste and increase the family income. The methods used in this community service were counseling, training and skills practices of targeted community groups on the mastery of processed waste technologies in the form of soy sauce. Also to facilitate some tools to support tofu production process. The result of community service shows that the target community has been able to master the processing of tofu waste into soy sauce from the beginning of processing until the production, soy sauce produced has been marketed and generated a profit of 4.5%. And the profit that can be obtained in soy sauce production is 4.5%. Key words : Tofu waste, Soy sauce, Environment pollution, incom
Pengaruh Pemberian Ekstrak Pare (Momordica charantia L) terhadap Motilitas dan Morfologi Sperma Mencit
The role of man in Family Planning extend o the birth space is rare. Therefore, improvement efforts to create the family planning tools that have characteristic safe and reversible for man ’s reproductive system are needed. It is wellknown that pare (Momordica charantia,L) showed the effect of spermatogenesis inhibition. The aim of this study is to reveal the influence of bitter melon extract on mice sperm activity. This experimental study used male mice which were given bitter melon extract by oral intubations. Twenty mice were divided into 2 groups. Group A was treated with bitter melon extract for 4 weeks and group B for 6 weeks. Each group were further divided into 5 subgroups which were treated with different dose 500, 600, 700, 800 mg/kg body weight/day and control subgroups were treated with aquadest. After this, mice were decapitated, and the left and right terminals of the epididymis were sectioned. Then the motility and morphology of the sperms cells were examined cupically. The results showed that there was a correlation between dose of extract, motility and morphology of sperms. The ANOVA analysis showed that there were significants differenced, at motility A(r = - 0,583), B(R = - 0,839) p = 0,27, normal morphology A(r = - 0,946), B(r = - 0,962) p = 0,000, abnormal morphology A(r = 0,930), B(r = 0,962) p = 0,000. It is concluded that the decreasing of motility and normal morphology of sperms were liniar with the increasing of dose and duration of extract treatment for sperm motility. The most minimally effective dosage were : 500 mg/weight/day during 4 weeks.Peran pria dalam mengikuti program Keluarga Berencana (KB) untuk menjaga jarak kelahiran anak masih sangat sedikit. Sehingga perlu usaha untuk menciptakan alat KB yang aman dan bersifat sementara bagi pria. Pare (Momordica charantiaL) diketahui memiliki efek penghambatan spermatogenesis.
